Thank you. Justine & Michael 💚
There comes a time in life when we realise that holding on to pain only deepens the scars we carry. The hurt we’ve endured, whether through betrayal, neglect, or misunderstanding, can weigh heavily on our hearts, tethering us to the past. But in the gentle act of letting go, we begin to free ourselves from the chains that bind us.
When we choose to forgive those who have hurt us, not as an acceptance of their actions but as a release from the burden, we discover an unexpected gift - healing. As the bitterness dissolves, we feel lighter, as though the soul breathes again, untangling from the web of resentment. In that moment, healing blossoms within us, like a garden after the rain, nourished by the waters of understanding and grace. We step forward, no longer shackled to the pain of the past, but open, whole, and at peace with ourselves and the world around us.
Featuring Robyn Simmons (Instagram - @robz.photographer)
Filmed in Betty's Bay, South Africa.
The quote read towards the end of this film is by Khalil Gibran:
"The river needs to take the risk of entering the ocean because only then will fear disappear, because that’s where the river will know it’s not about disappearing into the ocean, but of becoming the ocean.”

Who is Reflections of Life? We are Justine and Michael (previously known as Green Renaissance). We use our passion for filmmaking and our love of storytelling, to remind our audience of one simple truth - that we are all human. The more that we understand and believe in this interconnectedness, the more we will treat ourselves, one another, and planet earth with a greater sense of compassion.
In collaboration with iNous, we recently released a beautiful deck of 52 cards - each card containing a quote from one of our films, paired with the activating visual muses of Lanon Prigge. The aim of this deck is to rekindle child-like curiosity and creativity, helping to navigate the shared waters of our human experience with grace and joy. I made my first poetry watching your video and I want to share my gratitude with this poetry
“You are a perfect , single flower.
No flower stays closed because it’s scared of the world.
No flower gives up and refuses to bloom because life is short.
    Every flower is perfect.
We can’t imagine how hard it is for a flower to bloom.
It faces pain, loneliness, and struggles alone.
But once it blooms, it sees others just like it.
They look at each other and smile.
Even if no one notices, they are perfect as they are.
    We are all perfect flowers.”

Dearest Robyn (I hope I got your name right). Your mom coming into your dream telling you that she loves you after she died, is her soul reaching out to you. Not because she wants to be forgiven, but because she wants you to heal and feel loved. You can talk to your mom, start a new relationship with her, and experience her loving you, because on the other side ...where pain & trauma seize to exist.. all she has for you is deepest love.

Crying, for you, for that kid that you were and for that kid that I was. I went through similar things. And had that moment of awakening when my mother acted to my daughter as she acted towards me, I got so angry! And I send her away. She had no right to speak to my daughter in that way, nor to me, when I was little.
And still, I find myself sometimes, so insecure, cause I just want to be enough and be enough to be loved. And I try to say to the kid inside me, that it was not my fault, that I'm enough and worthy of love and that I do not have to earn it with being perfect or negating myself.

Letting go of the pressures to constantly prove ourselves, meet unrealistic expectations, or chase external validation. The story of ‘letting go’ probably highlights the peace and freedom that come when we stop trying to be perfect and embrace our true selves. It’s a message of self-love, acceptance, and understanding that being enough isn’t about what we do but about who we are at our core

Beautiful words from a beautiful soul. She is right - when we recognise that we are nature and nature is us - there is no need to take on other people's expectations of perfection and "good enoughness" because as children of the universe - we are perfect - just as we are. Nature is our eternally loving mother and true home. I am forever so very grateful for that.

    I remember......
    My mother didn't love me.
    I was an " accident"😉
When I was born she was 17 years old!!!!
    Many years I hate her.
But later on......I realized that my mind only remember a Part of the Story.
And my mother told me never what took place with HER.
I know that she didn't love herself.......
I know about ME a long time I didn't love myself and because of that I truly had no love to give. Ans I did hurt many people many years.
A expartner asked me " why do you hurt people that love you most?"
I don't hate my mother anymore. Now I feel compassion. For me and for her.
I am very glad that I learned to love/fully accept myself. Now I can give love and compassion.

Bonne continuation. Armelle.

I respect Robyn's journey. I think letting go can manifest itself in different ways, without necessarily forgiving or recreating people or events in our minds. As I approach 80, I have simply let go of those who do not bring positivity. My mother was not suited to motherhood or marriage and gave me over to grandparents to raise. My accomplishments and intellect owe little to her. I harbor no bitterness. I have let go, much like clouds that were overhead, then drifted away.

I was blessed to find that love you described and it was through pain. I asked Jesus for a hug with tears streaming down my face. I was filled with the most pure concentrated feeling flowing into me - it was LOVE. Totally not judged, accepted for who I am. A peace I had never known. He healed my broken heart.

Honestly started crying listening to this beautiful woman's story. I am the oldest of 4,3 girls & a brother who my mom coddled & spoiled silly. The first thing she did was punish me for being left handed, after that l got punished alot, even for something like spilling juice or not eating enough. I'm 61, still working on myself but also feeling un deserving & because of this have been bullied all my life. By my ex, coworkers & fellow students. Her story is my story. God bless you dear lady & God bless this channel & it's makers for giving us all love & hope. So grateful.🙏❤️🙏

Another absolutely wonderful video, thank you dear sister for sharing your story 💗 your life is one that I have also had with an unloving and abusive mother, and it has taken me many years of loving myself and being loved and held by our Creator God, who is universal love 💜 to heal and allow a relationship with my mother, where I can honour her ❤️‍🩹 and God gave me the most amazing daughter, with whom I have a safe, nurturing, loving and joyous relationship with! 🙏🏻 Bless this community, we all love your channel, thank you again for making these films, they are priceless 💗

Mrs. Simmons expressed thoughts that free us from pain.....how good it was to have heard these thoughts!
We are unique beings and at the same time we are all that exists!
We are part of the ocean and at the same time we are the ocean!
Emotional pains come and few understand them, moving from a dark state full of bitterness, to a state of absolute consciousness and love! Thank you Mrs Simmons, Michael and Justine! Love to you all!

I resonate with this lady. She embodies what I see in myself. It’s taken me 51 years to realise I am a beautiful soul. There have been hard times, but they have led me to where I am now. If I had the opportunity to tell my younger self anything, it would be ride the storm because you will become someone with beauty and grace, who needed to go through tough times to appreciate who I am and what I have to offer the world . Thank you for taking the time to read my words.

I had the same when my mum died a very strong dream the day after. She hugged me and said goodbye. It was perfect timing. As I didn’t get there in time and when I got there I felt sorry she had passed without saying goodbye. x
