Mam, I have 4 doubts....1) In the script, how crucial are the shots and camera angle, is it possible to write a script without that....2)Do we need to mention the properties in the script or just any key props is enough to complete the script n let the art director to decide on that....3) How the industry consider giving the opportunity to a budding director when they don't have any experience in assisting someone or directed a short film with having a justifying script alone....4) Lastly, directors direct the movies in which the script is done by somebody, what's the role of director in those kind of movies....

I have lot of stories in my mind and I can run through them effectively as well in my mind like a movie. However, while trying to write it as a script I get confused due to lack of experience in splitting it into scene. How do I split a narration into scenes ? How do I say this is end of this scene ? Is it based on a location switching to next or is it anything else ? Example : A lot of incidents can happen in a single location . Suppose a thief enters a house and there are two children alone at home. Children fearing to open the door, trying to look out the window , hearing a noise upstairs, worried that the thief might have entered house, thief entering from upstairs, climbing down quickly only to see the children already hid themselves, the thief wander around the house , room by room , phone ringing, the children were shown to be hiding inside the closed shelf or somewhere, they wanted to pick the phone , the thief looks at the phone, trying to find valuables at home, unsuccessful, decides to climb up the stairs and leave the house , only to see the car entering the garage , maybe parents, shortly the calling bell ringing , the theif unable to jump down until the parents get inside , the children scared of getting out to open the door, a deadlock situation pretty much. Lets say this is how the story runs in my mind. My confusion here is how to split this in to scenes ? Is this a single scene ? or multiple scenes ? In general, how do we switch from one scene to another scene if the scene is happening in a same location or in a series of locations but the incident is the same continous one ? Please help.
Basically when you shift to another time or space (location), it becomes another scene. This is to help us breakdown the script and plan for the shoot according to locations and time (day or night). In your example, you can split up that scenes according to the rooms since everything happens inside the house. So, bedroom, bathroom, hallway, staircase etc will come as different scenes. If in same room, let's say the kids are hiding for a few mins, you will have a dissolve or cut or lighting change to show the passage of time, right? Then that becomes another scene. So whenever there is a change of location (even room, hall, staircase etc) or time (morning, afternoon, few minutes later), it's a different scene. All this is for your own shooting purpose. Another filmmaker may combine couple of rooms and write them as one scene. It's okay. Hope this explanation helps. Best wishes.
