    Nice clear non biased review, thank you! For the choke lever I have found a couple of O-rings give it a nice resistance to stay right where you place it but still move freely. A buddy had an issue where his choke lever was moving slightly while riding obviously causing overly rich condition and we solved it with the O-rings.

    I just found your channel the other day and subscribed. Holy smokes, where have I been? You really put out some great videos, and I thank you. You do an incredible job of making things simple and viewer friendly. Thanks for all of these videos and your honest reviews. I have an XPro Hawk and it has been incredible. I bought it for my young son and daughter to learn how to ride a motorcycle on and it has been fantastic. After both learn to ride a motorcycle on the hawk, they still argue about who’s going to get to ride it. Even after my son bought a KLR 650, he can’t wait to hop on the hawk and take it for a ride, because it has a great low end first gear, and he says no matter how much he beats it, it just begs for more. This year will be three years of owning the XPro Hawk with over 3000 miles on it and has yet to have any problems whatsoever. Not a single one. And I mentioned this again because my son and daughter have not taken it easy on that bike, it’s been dropped, crashed, ran into boulders and who knows what else they’re afraid to tell me happened. After all of this time, the only thing I’ve had to do is patch a tube, that’s it. Thanks again, keep up the great videos and hard work. It’s appreciated!

    Checking in on you Mike! It's been a while. Busy on this end.Thanks for the video and taking the time to make it. I'm down at the veterinarian right now, and this helped pass the time while one of my dogs received some stitches. Fun bike and affordable! The good old days of going down and picking up a new Japanese bike at the dealership for $3,000 are long gone and have been for a while. I remember the good old days of the Honda XR's, which most of these Chinese bikes are copied fom. The Chinese bikes keep getting better and better, and ard worth the price! Tons of fun!

      @Mikefestiva  Місяць тому

      I hope your dog is doing better and the bill wasn’t crazy expensive.
      I owned an XR 250 that had some aftermarket engine parts on it, it was a great bike, I also owned a XR 650L. My other X pro bike is the Templar 250 and it reminds me a lot of my XR 250 especially the engine, but the Templar has more modern geometry and a flatter seat that goes over the tank. It’s almost identical to my KTM XCW 200 frame and plastics. Honestly I road my Nephews XR 250 and I kind of prefer the Templar a little more. Take care Joe 😊👍

    Mike, that wire bundle under the rear fender could be protected even more by sleeving over with a bicycle inner tube, and zip tied in place. Literally disconnecting the wires, threading them through the inner tube. Reconnect wires then zip tied both ends closed.

    It's great that you emphasize what needs to be done with a brand new, fresh from the shipping crate bike. The temptation would be to tighten a few nuts and go ripping around the yard but your methodical approach will assure better value for dollar spent and give a better, longer use of the bike.

    watched the whole thing, of course it runs good its a crf 230 motor. closely related to engines that Honda built from the early 70,s. would suspect that the transmission would bolt in any crf or xr. have done this mod with a Zhongshan to Honda xr. if you have the two 5 speed transmissions on the bench you CAN'T tell the difference. the shift forks are compatible but are the only parts that look different.

I've wondered about getting a bike to ride areas when camping etc., and that looks perfect for parks and wilderness exploring. Who wants to be worn out when they get back to camp and can't do anything else for the rest of the day.?.The bikes light enough to put on a rack for travelling too. Ive rode the kellys pond loop in sam Houston national forest many times rode hard even after the hurricane. If you know the trail thats pretty impressive ive done 300 miles of that trail. I have 4 china bikes and this titan is so solid for 1600 delivered i trust that bike with my life. Its my therapy its my mule and its a great bike. I only wish it came with a luggage rack. I bolted a lock box with u bolts right to the rear frame. I used some plastic under the bolts to better protect the wiring. My horn bracket broke off so now i have no horn.

    Ive settled with age 64 now and 6'4" 230 lbs now and have ridden small trail bikes like this one - wow
    your using grease and blue loctite much like I do, yeah some dont. [ours last longer] :)
    great job on assembly and care!
    I was thinking about the Templar, but its heavy [Im old "64" now] and low n slow & being able to toss/put the bike "where" I want it to be is more important to me.
    I like your approach on this and other things in your vids -
    sure appreciate Im not the only "old school" type that actually enjoys puttering about on these projects. :)
    I have ebikes and considering one for trails, but this one will do much better than an ebike [thats out now]
    oh & Im North Idaho, live in the woods with miles of logging roads n trails, some on belly acres, more nearby -
    no need for a multipurpose bike here :)
    are the rims aluminum? [thats why I hold off on the 150] steel for rims on a bike might be a problem. (?)

    Another outstanding video Mike, thank you. In your next video on the Storm 250 would you please address the rear shock. It looks as though it does not have any linkage to make the suspension progressive. Perhaps this is accomplished with a progressive spring? Also, please compare and contrast the wheel sizes vs the standard Templar. I'm trying to find the best bike to reintroduce my wife to riding after a 2 year hiatus. We now have access to hundreds of miles of Forest Service roads near our home so instead of putting her back on a street bike I'm thinking a light enduro. We have a Templar 250X that I absolutely love but she is a bit intimidated by it's size. The storm 250 may be just the bike for her.
    Other questions: can the exhaust stinger be removed and a spark arrestor installed as you did on the Templar? To what extent is the engine vibration felt in the bars? If used on roads rather than trails would you install a smaller rear sprocket or is there room to install one tooth large countershaft sprocket?
    Again, thanks for another very informative video!

It's really surprising how decent these bikes are. just a few cheap mods and it would be pretty solid.

      @Mikefestiva  Місяць тому +1

      There’s a lot of differences
      More than I can list in the comment but I can make a video on that soon.
      The Templar is bigger and heavier. ( closer to a full size bike)
      The Templar has a true 249cc engine and makes about 4 more HP
      Templer has more travel on the suspension along with larger rims and tires. That’s just a few of the differences.
      Keep an eye out for a side by side comparison video soon.

    Hey Mike love your videos. Have a question not related to this video however wondered if you could recommend a tig welder that would be the easiest for a novice to use and learn.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  Місяць тому +1

      I would say it depends on your budget, the Harbor Freight Titanium welders are a good affordable and simple to use welder. The Flux 125 is good but if you decide to go from Flux wire to MIG with gas you would want to go with at least the MIG 140. There’s a lot of good welders available on Amazon as well.
      The Brand Arccaptain seems to make a good MIG welder, I have been running that welder at my work for the past 2 years without any issues. Hope this helps 👍

    Great stuff Mike. Very fun to see you cruise the trails on it. Maybe it's too early to ask but....which do you prefer....the Templar or the Storm? (I see they have the Templar in a 6-speed now)

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  Місяць тому

      Thanks for checking out my new video! It’s had to say because they cover different ranges for me. The Templar is a bit heavier so you feel the weight more on the trails but it’s got more HP and does better on the pavement. The Storm 250 if so light and more nimble on the trails but not as good on the pavement. If I had to pick just one bike for a main dual sport it would be the Templar. If I had to pick just one for tight trail riding it would be the Storm 250.

    Mike, after watching your videos on the Xpro Storm 250, I got one for Christmas. We finally got this thing all together and finally got it running. Took a while of cranking and charging the battery(yea, I know about chinese batteries). Anyway, it started and the idle is way too high. About 5000 rpms. I tried to lower the idle screw but it does nothing. Is there anything I'm missing. I'm in eastern Tennessee, about 2400 ft elevation. And I have not oiled the air filter yet. I just wanted to get it started first before I finish anything else up. But any advice you can provide on the idle of this bike, I would really appreciate it. I'm 68 yrs old, been riding off road since I was 14(1970) but I am not mechanically inclined. So, any help you can provide will greatly be appreciated. T'hank you and looking forward to riding the trails around here. :)

      Mine had a similar issue. It’s the throttle cable probably. Double check your routing of the throttle cable by the headset and behind the headlight. Make sure it’s not bent hard or pulled. Then check the adjuster at the hand throttle and back off the threaded adjuster up there.
      Make sure when you twist the throttle and let it go with the bike off that you can hear the throttle slide in the carb click when it drops down to the carb.

    It's honestly kind of frustrating, it was easy to dismiss the Chinese bikes when they were a cheap knockoff of a name brand bike, but no name brands offer a dual sport at that weight that's that compact. The price makes it pretty tempting as well. I think I can resist for now, but I'll be watching further reviews with interest.

If not its still a great deal.how much hp do you think it has?thankyou mike from lake havasu Arizona

      Right on man! Good to know about that Nibbi 24 carb. If you like the 150 you will not be disappointed with the Storm 250 (223cc)
      I’m still breaking in the engine and I need to re jet the carb and remove the CAT in the header but I bet it makes 15 or 16 HP it feels really similar to a Yamaha XT 225 or a DR 200 with the power, but the bike is a lot lighter and feels great on the trails 👍 I’m definitely going to change out the rear shock for something that’s adjustable.

    • @crackjack8320
      @crackjack8320 Місяць тому

      @drumtwo4seven there isn't a reckuse kit for this bike. However, most one armed riders prefer to use a thumb throttle like a ATV and 1-2 finger stunt clutches, a generic thumb throttle would work with this. I don't think they will ever make a auto clutch for this bike

    • @joez6798
      @joez6798 Місяць тому

      Unless something has changed a lot of people misunderstand how the rekluse works, it’s not an automatic it prevents stalling between idol and around 2000 rpms riding below that you’ll feel slippage, outside of that 2000 rpm range it’s intended to be used as a normal clutch. What you’re looking for is an auto transmission.

      The Templer is definitely more robust and is more of a full sized dual sport bike. The Storm is just a tiny bit small then a full sized dirt bike. If I was only going to own one dirt bike for street and offroad use it would be the Templar because it will easily do 60 MPH on the road.

    I will be interested in hearing what the actual weight it. Weight is your enemy!
    I’m not sure if you ever rode my old AJP (it is still bouncing around the area, an ‘Ultrapasser’) but I’m curious if similar power. Looks like could be very similar engine, but the AJP did not have much snap at all stock. After I put the ‘hot’ cam and carb and fabricated an exhuast it was quite a lot better. Sounds like it weighs more, it does handle superbly for what it is meant for.
    This sounds interesting for intended use I think. I will keep an eye out for it out in the hills.
