Still able to sing in the original key-props to him. Most singers of his era couldn't come close to singing in the same key that they originally recorded it in.
Simply amazing to see Mark Farner belting one of my fave songs from 75 when GFR was one of the great underrated rock bands of the era. The man just doesn't get enough cred.. As for his voice..must be the envy of his peers.. he is an absolute legend.. Outstanding...
yeah.... struggling a little in places but having a good go at it..... love singers like this who ain't afraid to go for them notes..... that use to come so easy....... a lot these days would just lip sync..
It's taken me nearly 50 years to realize how much Mark Farner's lead vocal on this song from 1975 sounds like Mickey Thomas singing the Elvin Bishop tune "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" from 1976. Two of the best male lead vocals of that decade.
Don't know if that makes him or anyone else a true artist or not (you've just called Elton John and hundreds of others non-artists btw which is ridiculous) but kudos for Mark for enjoying great genetics and personal habits to still be able to sing as well as he did in his 20s.
@@davidkyle2073 Perhaps talent would been better to use than artist, but don't think he was trashing anyone else. Almost all singers loose the singing voice over time and he's giving this guy credit for still having some left.
Grand Funk have always been an incredibly underrated band and Mark Farner has written some outstanding songs, "Bad Time" is one of the many. GREAT to see Godfrey Townshend (most notably of John Entwistle Band fame) on rhythm guitar.
I haven't heard this song in a long, long, time. Great to hear it again. Grand Funk was one of my favorite bands ever. Especially loved this tune!!!!! Mark, you still sound great!!!!!!!!
Just hear this song on Sirius in the last week. Haven't heard it in ages. I love the song now I can't stop listening to it. Had to check out this video. Mark still sounded great here.
good to him again after so much time. good rendition too. this was the sound of the spring of 1975, I was in high school and remember exactly where I was the first time I heard this. you knew instantly it would be a hit. reached #4 on Billboard. Thank you, Mr. Farner.
mark is an underrated musician and song writer....he trusted his band and they stuck it where the sun doesn't shine..He 's a Great song writer and plays the guitar effortlessly but it speaks to you..great vocals 2..
Would love to see GFRR with Mark play live. Would be a dream come true. I grew up listening to this band. I am 50 now. I still have the heart of a ten yrs old. this music never dies, that is why my heart is still young, it pumps this music in my blood.
Mark Farner said "My lifestyle was not conducive to happy home and marriage. I was divorced in 1975 and wrote a song called Bad Time. The song was written in some real turmoil!"
Sounds amazing....not like that wanna be band pretending to be Grand Funk Railroad. You can change just about anything in a band and still have "The Band", but when you remove the energy and the lead "sounds", you get a wanna be. Rock on Mark..you're still bad ass !!!!
As A young man in Mzantsi(South Africa), I grew up listening to, in the diet of my musical playlist(LPs at that time), to Grfand Funk Railroad.. I will add to the list of accolades about his voice and guitar dexterity and playing, that I am glad he's still around and has not aged musically and or otherwise.. I'm talking merely from a standpoint of being a music lover and appreciator. For me, Grand Funk Railroad were Bad Ass Kickers then and now-seemingly into the viral Soup age-We dubbed this genre here in the Township of Soweto, South Africa, "SOUNDS HEAVY!"(Sounds That Are Heavy-Heavy as used in a Jazz Sense)-but for us for the Music of GFR)), me and my friends.. Thanks for posting this gem, "sakatchawan".. Much appreciated...
You still got the voice and range. We used to do a lot of Grand Funk and James Gang material in the early 70’s as a trio. Never could find a guy with a B-3 with the Leslie speakers. Believe or not Mr. Farner I’m 70yrs old and tonight at rehearsal we talked about your band material and “ Bad Time “ “ American Band “ and “ Loco-Motion “ are now in the works. Thank you and your band for some really great Rock n Roll
Incredible! How old is he now? Damn good, and I think it ran only 2 seconds more than the original hit recording! One of my favorite songs of all time.
Marks such a great guy & bad ass at the same time. I know Mark wrote this about his divorce but you can hear Todd Rundgrens influence on it as Todd was working with them at the time. What a great era of rock & roll !
During all the years Mark was solo, he played at practically every dive that would hire him. He's a true musician that loves what he does. Very friendly down to earth guy also.
Hi, happy to bring it to you, I believe because of his political views and also being a strong second amendment believer ( notice the T shirt ) might have something to do why the music industry passed him by. Mark is one of the all time great talents. Someday I hope he makes it in, I bought his albums when they were current hits. And thank you for watching my videos!
I was debating on whether to go and see GFR in concert tonight when they came to Oklahoma. After watching a current live performance of them from a couple of years ago on UA-cam, and the comments saying that the band isn't the same without Mark Farner, I said no way. This is my favorite of their songs and if it can't sound like this, I would be disappointed. People were commenting that this guy was the best part of the band and that he wanted to be back in it, but was denied the chance to be back in it.
So sad to see Mark by himself. Hopefully one day the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame gets the original band inducted. Although they don't get along you can never take away the great years of music they did.
sings like an ace,and plays guitar, writes and produces, and they don't think he is HALL OF FAME MATERIAL,you are too good for them MARK,ALL OF THEM, DON AND MEL TOO a group is the original, all three or no magic
Bom! Pra quem não conhece a versão original os arranjos e vocal estão iguais! Queria estar nesse show! Essa banda é foda! Exemplo de amor à música! Divino! Thanks
Here's what brought me here: I shop at the new Piggly Wiggly down the road and the manager plays 1970's music all day! I'm so glad I was shopping when this was on in the store!
Yea, it's really amazing how Mark can still STILL sing high and clear like he did when he was 20. Most people can't (like Rod Stewart and many others). It's really too bad that GFR broke up and never had a long run like the Stones still have. I wonder how the Stones do it. They must have signed legal contracts to each other saying that they could NEVER break up - or ELSE.
Great song and still sounds good live after all these years.I first heard this by the Jayhawks on their faithful cover version. Saw them do it live during their English tour last year.
Mark your on my bucket list please come play in my area Youngstown Ohio I'd love to see you in concert the voice is better than ever he made that band and took them to the top I hope I get the honor to see him someday soon. Geno
Mark Farner needs to be in the hall of fame, with or without the garage band. He is rock royalty!!!
Mr Lloyd you are absolutely Correct, I saw him a few years ago in St Charles Illinois Mr Farner still has it 👏😉

Real musicians never lose their spark, no matter how many years pass. Nicely done!!
If only that were true. Many great musicians have flamed out for many good reasons. You clearly are not one.
loved this song 40 years ago... still love it and he's still singing it well... very well actually
Same key!
yeah.... struggling a little in places but having a good go at it..... love singers like this who ain't afraid to go for them notes..... that use to come so easy....... a lot these days would just lip sync..

This was my favorite song in 1975 for the entire year. Great tune!!!
STILL one of my faves!
I always loved Grand Funk so many great songs. But this one really gets to me. ❤🔥
I am from Guatemala, loving your music forever my bro.

I agree, so much talent. Went to many Grand Funk concerts!
I'm a Thai man 33 years old. I like this song a lot
Mark Farner still rocks! Listening to this brought back so many awesome memories from my wild youth. Love it!
Grand Funk have always been an incredibly underrated band and Mark Farner has written some outstanding songs, "Bad Time" is one of the many.
GREAT to see Godfrey Townshend (most notably of John Entwistle Band fame) on rhythm guitar.
Thanks for uploading. Mark Farner still sounds good after 36 years from the original studio recording.
I always loved this song. I had every GFR album. They were a stone's throw always from where I grew up. Marks voice is still so good!
I'm in love with Mark Farner! I have always loved this song. Thanks for sharing .
Wow. My favorite GFR song of all time. And Farner is still belting it out! Rock on man!
Great song! One the most important influence for us (I'm talking for me and my band mates)! Tks for all!
Saw Mark last year and he still sounded great. His voice has held up over all these years. Hope he comes back my way again.
I haven't heard this song in a long, long, time. Great to hear it again. Grand Funk was one of my favorite bands ever. Especially loved this tune!!!!! Mark, you still sound great!!!!!!!!
Blessed with such a great voice and musical talent.

David - Well said man
Been waiting close to forty years to see this video. It was worth it. And as someone else said - why isn't GFR in the R&R Hall Of Fame?
Great performance! Sorry I never saw GFR back in the day, but have seen Farner several times and always enjoy his playing.

Great 70's vibe in this tune (though a difficult time of life for the singer).
