I love Pastor Jeff! I worshipped as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latrer day saints for 50 years, temple married , seminary teacher and lifelong desire to please my creator! I left the faith 3 years ago as I developed a very personal relationship with the grace of Christ 10 years ago and could no longer embrace temple covenant path or family sealing as the focus of my faith! I was born again through the merits and mercy of Jesus Christ and no other truth has ever been life changing to me. I love that Lds communities can know through pastor Jeff that faith in Christ outside of the lds church is as deeply personal and life changing as is their faith and devotion to a restored religion. I have never watched the cultural hall podcast and must say I am deeply impressed by the host! So much respect for this entire conversation!

Pastor Jeff, as I listen to you tell your conversion story, I felt like you were reading from my journal! I went from being a Christian believer, to a Catholic Christian, hanging on to what I felt and knew was true, to having a similar experience as you did... awakening, if you will, when I was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, and I have stayed true and faithful to its teachings ever since... that was 45 years ago! This confirms what I have always believed, when someone gains a testimony of our Savior, no matter what Church they are in, IF their hearts are totally turned to Jesus and want and desire and live for Him... we will recognize a true follower of our Savior. I don't know if you agree with my next statement, but I believe with that kind of conversion and desire to please and love Christ and our Heavenly Father in everything we do and say, doing as Jesus taught, "love one another" as He loves us, we will become one with Christ and our Heavenly Father, until we all come to a unity of the faith! Follower of Pastor Jeff on Hello Saints. So this I my first time watching The Cultural Hall. I watch HS because I was a new convert to LDS from Southern Baptist Convention. And it helped me take inventory of both denominations & decide as a Protestant where my processing was… if that makes sense. I appreciate the openness of his content.

Whether Jeff joins The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints or not, God can use his experience to bring people to his (God's) church, whichever church it is. I personally strongly believe in The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, but I leave conversions to God. He gives people the best chance in this life or the next, but it's up to each individual to make the choice. As for whether someone would be willing to give up a career as a paid clergy, many converts to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, as well as other religions, have done just that. I think it's a great idea to include your wife, for she can visit the Relief Society and give her opinion on it. I also recommend a visit to Welfare Square, be prepared to donate your time and labor for a proper experience.

My hopefully respectful response to @BradenWBarty. Soon after the start of Hello Saints the videos started to discount, critique, and correct, conference talks, the doctrine and the Book of Mormon. I did enjoy the earlier videos because they were such a breath of fresh air. However, 90% of his analysis of our scripture and doctrine is criticism. Followed by a pre-restoration understanding and teaching that plants a seed of doubt. Quoting Jeff: “I’m also having a lot of individuals who have been leaving the Latter-Day Saints Church who were pretty much resigned just to agnosticism or atheism who have by watching hello Saints realize that one can have a relationship with Jesus outside of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and that's critically important!” One viewer commented to Jeff: “If I was ever to decide to leave the church you would be the first spiritual leader I would look to to figure where I was going to because I know that you’re open and searching for truth.” Jeff replied with a heart emoji. After a livestream discussion with Cwic Media that was respectful and insightful, Jeff had a follow up video to correct Gregg from Cwic Media and to evangelize his perspective. While follow up if you are just seeking to build bridges and understand. In Jeff’s video title. “This is my honest reason for exploring Mormonism” Jeff said “Most importantly I will continue to drive an understanding and share what I understand driving an understanding of Jesus that is rooted in TRUTH that's the why behind hello Saints” He is driving his truth not the Prophets, not the Book of Mormon, not the restored gospel. That’s why almost every video has a section where kindly explains why we are wrong. The mist of darkness is already dark enough, the accusations against the truth claims of the church is already loud enough. I just can’t feel good about the precious little time I have to study known truth to search for nuggets of truth from someone who would like to make an off ramp for our saints. As we watch and comment it builds the channel to more and more exposure to those who might be vulnerable, who need faith not doubt right now. By the way, Jeff channel title Hello Saints is a little disingenuous since he does not consider us as saints in the biblical sense. We are not following the right Jesus. We are not saved. ...Absolutely agree. I think you are correct in the purest sense. A Christian is a follower of Christ. Initially, followers were called the people who were following the WAY, then later in Antioch they were called Christians. From this point on they were called Christians. My observation about Christianity today is this: The majority of Christians believe the Bible to be the word of God and their source for God's truth. They adhere to the Apostles Creed and they believe the Trinity best explains the triune nature of God. Secondary to this, is mode of baptism, the presence of Jesus in the Holy Communion (sacrament) and a faith vs. works salvation. Respectfully, LDS are on the outskirts of main stream Christianity in that Joseph Smith has claimed God told him that ALL the creeds are an abomination...Ouch! (Please read the Apostles Creed, you might be surprised how much you agree with it) and the long standing view that the LDS church is the ONLY true church of Jesus Christ. Honestly, how many times have you hear someone bear their testimony and say, "I"d like to bear my testimony, I know this church is true...." This has isolated the LDS church which was Jospeh Smith's intention, but since then, the LDS church is trying to show how truly "Christian" they are, thus the confusion. In order to believe the LDS style of Christianity, you have to also embrace the Pearl of Great Price, ie. the Book of Abraham, The Book of Moses, etc. The Book of Abraham has been proven by Egyptologists to be incorrectly translated. So, it is naturally difficult for the rest of the Christian community to believe it is scripture. There is no way to prove the Book of Mormon, unlike the Bible or the Book of Abraham, there are no manuscripts or parchment of papyri to examine, so we can't tell if it was translated correctly. You have to just pray, which can be very subjective. Just some of my thoughts as to why some say LDS aren't considered Christians among the general christian community. One last thought. Christians embrace the idea that we are "all members of the body of Christ through faith", would you agree with this?

@timwrightfamily - Just to be clear, if you watch Jeff's Hello Saints from the very first episode, you will see that his stated purpose of the channel is to compare and contrast how the Church is the same and different from Evangelical Christianity. I am sure there are Evangelicals who are afraid that by digging into our Church that we will try to lead him away, just as there are people who think that his intention is to lead us away. Jeff has made no secret of his belief that Christianity in a different religion is still an option for people leaving LDS Church instead of atheism. I am a devout member of the Church and Jeff's investigation has helped strengthen my testimony because when he investigates a topic I spend more time investigating it too.

Pastor Jeff, how could you read 2 Nephi 31, and not finally understood baptism and the plan of salvation. Your testimony you have could be viewed by you as a stepping stone to greater truth and expanded faith. Reread Acts 8 and Acts 19. Priesthood Authority is necessary.

Baptism is a sign that we are a part of the covenant people of Israel. It symbolizes our washing away of sin and birthed into a new live BUT it must be accompanied by the Holy Spirit, otherwise, it's not true baptism. Jesus instructed the Apostles to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Evangelical pastors do baptize, stating the authority and power of Jesus Christ and do it in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. I just re-read Acts 19. The disciples with whom Paul was talking to were baptized by John the Baptist, YET it didn't count. Why? because they had not been baptized with the Holy Spirit. Ironic how John the Baptist had baptised these disciples but yet Paul does't reacognize it. Did John not have the authority? Ironic how Joseph Smith gets the power to baptize by John the Baptist and not by Jesus Christ, the one who gave the authority to the Apostles to baptize.

I left the faith 3 years ago as I developed a very personal relationship with the grace of Christ 10 years ago and could no longer embrace temple covenant path or family sealing as the focus of my faith! I was born again through the merits and mercy of Jesus Christ and no other truth has ever been life changing to me. I love that Lds communities can know through pastor Jeff that faith in Christ outside of the lds church is as deeply personal and life changing as is their faith and devotion to a restored religion. I have never watched the cultural hall podcast and must say I am deeply impressed by the host! So much respect for this entire conversation!

I went from being a Christian believer, to a Catholic Christian, hanging on to what I felt and knew was true, to having a similar experience as you did... awakening, if you will, when I was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, and I have stayed true and faithful to its teachings ever since... that was 45 years ago! This confirms what I have always believed, when someone gains a testimony of our Savior, no matter what Church they are in, IF their hearts are totally turned to Jesus and want and desire and live for Him... we will recognize a true follower of our Savior. Whether Jeff joins The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints or not, God can use his experience to bring people to his (God's) church, whichever church it is. I personally strongly believe in The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, but I leave conversions to God. He gives people the best chance in this life or the next, but it's up to each individual to make the choice. As for whether someone would be willing to give up a career as a paid clergy, many converts to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, as well as other religions, have done just that. I think it's a great idea to include your wife, for she can visit the Relief Society and give her opinion on it. I also recommend a visit to Welfare Square, be prepared to donate your time and labor for a proper experience.

Soon after the start of Hello Saints the videos started to discount, critique, and correct, conference talks, the doctrine and the Book of Mormon. I did enjoy the earlier videos because they were such a breath of fresh air.
However, 90% of his analysis of our scripture and doctrine is criticism. Followed by a pre-restoration understanding and teaching that plants a seed of doubt.

I just can’t feel good about the precious little time I have to study known truth to search for nuggets of truth from someone who would like to make an off ramp for our saints.
As we watch and comment it builds the channel to more and more exposure to those who might be vulnerable, who need faith not doubt right now.

Im not very good at expressing my thoughts as kindly as Jeff so I apologize if this seems accusatory or snarky. This is a very sensitive topic for me as a father of 5. I think you are a great spiritual strength to the church, I just hate to see anyone loose faith from seeds of doubt. You are able to glean nuggets of truth and stay strong, but many are not in the dark and confusing world.
I appreciate your analysis. But there are plenty of UA-cam channels, Reddit websites, xx Mormon channels that anybody can go to receive real false hood, and lies, misconceptions, misinterpretations, and so forth.

Pastor Jeff is somewhat secure with his own beliefs, or is the vast majority of evangelicals and protestants absolutely are not, which is why they have to find comfort invalidation in bashing our church. Same could be said for ex Mormons, who leave the church and are uncomfortable with their selves that they sometimes spend the rest of their life having to bash the church and they find comfort in bringing others out of the church to join their fold which is no church.

...Absolutely agree. I think you are correct in the purest sense. A Christian is a follower of Christ. Initially, followers were called the people who were following the WAY, then later in Antioch they were called Christians. From this point on they were called Christians.
My observation about Christianity today is this: The majority of Christians believe the Bible to be the word of God and their source for God's truth. They adhere to the Apostles Creed and they believe the Trinity best explains the triune nature of God. Secondary to this, is mode of baptism, the presence of Jesus in the Holy Communion (sacrament) and a faith vs. works salvation.
Respectfully, LDS are on the outskirts of main stream Christianity in that Joseph Smith has claimed God told him that ALL the creeds are an abomination...Ouch! (Please read the Apostles Creed, you might be surprised how much you agree with it) and the long standing view that the LDS church is the ONLY true church of Jesus Christ. Honestly, how many times have you hear someone bear their testimony and say, "I"d like to bear my testimony, I know this church is true...." This has isolated the LDS church which was Jospeh Smith's intention, but since then, the LDS church is trying to show how truly "Christian" they are, thus the confusion.
In order to believe the LDS style of Christianity, you have to also embrace the Pearl of Great Price, ie. the Book of Abraham, The Book of Moses, etc. The Book of Abraham has been proven by Egyptologists to be incorrectly translated. So, it is naturally difficult for the rest of the Christian community to believe it is scripture.
There is no way to prove the Book of Mormon, unlike the Bible or the Book of Abraham, there are no manuscripts or parchment of papyri to examine, so we can't tell if it was translated correctly. You have to just pray, which can be very subjective.
Just some of my thoughts as to why some say LDS aren't considered Christians among the general christian community.
One last thought. Christians embrace the idea that we are "all members of the body of Christ through faith", would you agree with this?

Just to be clear. Jeff a nice guy who means well but he is not investigating the Church of Jesus Christ. He believes we worship a devil inspired false Jesus, the Book of Mormon leads us a way from the true Jesus and that the prophet is lying to us. His stated goal is to convince us to leave our church. That is his right, and he means well. My concern is that his kindness towards us is so rare we want to support him and thus support an anti-latter-day saint effort.

I am sure there are Evangelicals who are afraid that by digging into our Church that we will try to lead him away, just as there are people who think that his intention is to lead us away. Pastor Jeff, how could you read 2 Nephi 31, and not finally understood baptism and the plan of salvation. Your testimony you have could be viewed by you as a stepping stone to greater truth and expanded faith. Reread Acts 8 and Acts 19. Priesthood Authority is necessary.
There is no greater deception than the abomination of mormonism. Mormonism is the religion of the completely Biblically illiterate, of the totally willingly ignorant, of the spiritually dead and blind, and of the accursed of God. Repent, how long will you remain completely steeped in darkness and deception?
Perhaps because once we have found freedom in Jesus there is no way we would want to go back into the rule of law and performing ordinances. A living relationship with Jesus, led by the Spirit is all-consuming and fulfilling.
...Evangelicals do believe in the priesthood authority, you might not have been aware of that. They believe in the priesthood of all believes. Those who God has called and chosen. Peter addresses this in his letter to the congregation referring to them as a "Royal Priesthood" in 1 Peter 2:9.
...perhaps you are too focused on the ordinances? ordinances don't save, Jesus does! God want's our heart, not our ordinances.
There is, however, a roll for ordinances. As covenant Christians, we are no longer circumcised but are baptized, see Colossians 2:11-12. Baptism is a sign that we are a part of the covenant people of Israel. It symbolizes our washing away of sin and birthed into a new live BUT it must be accompanied by the Holy Spirit, otherwise, it's not true baptism. Jesus instructed the Apostles to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Evangelical pastors do baptize, stating the authority and power of Jesus Christ and do it in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
I just re-read Acts 19. The disciples with whom Paul was talking to were baptized by John the Baptist, YET it didn't count. Why? because they had not been baptized with the Holy Spirit. Ironic how John the Baptist had baptised these disciples but yet Paul does't reacognize it. Did John not have the authority? Ironic how Joseph Smith gets the power to baptize by John the Baptist and not by Jesus Christ, the one who gave the authority to the Apostles to baptize.

Thanks for making this critically important distinction. Joseph Smith said God told him all the sects Joseph was asking about were wrong, but God reserved the word “abomination” for their creeds.

Why do LDS platforms continue giving Pastor Jeff a chance to appear ? This 'pastor' is not a sincere seeker of Truth and is most likely only interested in building up his paid ministry there in Utah. Why can you not see this ? He has been around the Gospel for years now and if he were a sincere seeker of truth, he would have received his own witness...
Why didn't you ask him how he makes his living when he stated that he gave up his congregation ?? his aim is to establish a brand new congregation there in Utah among disaffected members, esp the youth.
