Beware of Audiophiliac scammers!!! Don’t fall for it!!
I didn’t head your warning as I didn’t see it. I was scammed out of $440.14 dollars by a fake Steve Guttenberg on a Telegram app. They guy sounded legit but he just kept pushing that I won this amp with 2 stickers. I should have known right off the bat but I’ve never won anything in my life before. I became a patron sub messaged you what happened but so far you haven’t responded either. I should have known if you were doing a giveaway it would be on patron. So here I sit with a case of Covid-19 an feeling the fool. You probably won’t answer this either I guess I’ll give up on honest people because there are none.
How can we know who they are?
I really enjoy your reviews and audio ideas but I enjoy your music recommendations even more. Thanks!
I just bought this amp after a couple of months of consideration; ended up doing a blind buy. I can tell you the AMP-23R has god-like authority over headphones and the spec sheet power ratings are drastically understated. Someone needs to do a power measurement on an APx555 to see what this thing can really push because it seems to be able to drive power hungry speakers with surprising ease. Clarity is amazing; since the amplifier gain stage is operating entirely in current mode, it seems to have an immense bandwidth, hence its speed i.e. ability to follow, highlight and delineate between every nuance in the input signal, with authority, is the best I've heard bar none, and I've heard quite a lot of amps.
I have this amp as the center of my music system, mainly driving headphones like the Susvara and some ZMFs but I'm definitely plugging it to speakers soon. I just auditioned the Devore Fidelity o/Baby and I think these will pair beautifully together
Wow I love this. I am not big on audio like this but this is art.
Not sure why all of you are so hung up on the price of this amplifier? If the price or the size, or the specs don’t work, don’t buy it!Steve didn’t make this video to sell you something. He’s taking his viewers on a musical journey. So relax, and enjoy the ride!
Thanks
I've had my Enleum 23R since mid December driving my Cornwall IVs. I love the sound of this amp. My system consists of an Aurender W20SE server/streamer, Holo May KTE DAC, Rega P10 turntable and Apheta 3 MC cartridge , Luxman EQ-500 phono stage and a Equi=Tech 2RQ power conditioner. Other amps that I've tried include an Audio By Van Alstine 600R (300 w/ch hybrid amp), McIntosh MC275 VI, Rogue Stereo 100 with Dark upgrades, and a Chinese 300B amp that's popular on Amazon. I'll take the Enleum over my own AVA 600R that is rated for 12 times the power of the 23R. The McIntosh MC275 v6 is a legendary amp (I used to own the v5) that cost about the same as the Enleum but the 23R makes it sound muddy and slow. The same goes for the Rogue and the 300B amp. The little nine pound 23R kicked the ass of 2 65lbs tube amps and my own 40lbs hybrid amp. I just laugh at people that say they want something more substantial. Oh, Steve is right about the 23R being a great headphone amp. I use it to drive my Susvara, Abyss 1266TC, Focal Utopia, and ZMF Verite. I haven't heard a headphone amp that I like better than the 23R and I've owned quite a few high end headphone amps.
I used my VFET (SIT-3 inspired) amp to drive my ZMF VC and Atrium. Holy f@ck, it sounds amazing. High-end receivers/amps are amazing for headphones
Yep. The sound from these SS amps have that SET characteristic. And it’s incredibly fluid, fast and lights up stage. Many forum favorites are merry go round amps or people who invest on the resale that they continue going around the block.
But it’s not AN Kondo, it’s not Boulder, it’s not Karan, it’s not Jeff Rowland… and klipsch and high end is like, really? Let’s say it is, but then, how are you assessing this? By how accurate or how much you like it? Or is it just how much you paid for it, or how proud you feel. So far I only see names and names, so I am placing more names and more names and specially bigger names.
So, didn’t you know what high end was based on what you commented as a reply to me? How have you found that you know what high end sound was when in many books Macintosh and Klipsch has no business in the high end.
And I’m just teasing because AN Kondo sounds vastly different to Karan and vastly different to Jeff and vastly different to Nagra and… so, yeah… glad your are enjoying your sound. I bet it sounds fantastic. I bet you can enjoy it even if you come off your high horse.
Mad Love is a killer record! I have several original pressings, including a white label promo, but also recently bought a pink vinyl reissue from Friday Music and it's wonderful.
Another day, another cool shirt.
The NOB fill is very satisfying 🤣
Thanks for sharing my system Steve!
I absolutely adore those Tannoys! 🤤 I really hope to hear some one day. If they aren’t too bright, I could see myself upgrading to a pair at some point
@@jeremyr722 Thanks! The overall presentation is on the warm side of neutral. There is a bit of brightness but paired with my Sansui (mellow), I have something pleasing to my ear.
@Inked Audiophile in that case I bet they’d be okay with my current amp, a Cambridge AXR100
$6200! At that price, I'll take a McIntosh any day over it. More important @1:56 I only see about $500-$700 worth of components in it plus the box and speaker outs with no company track record or guarantee they'll be around when the over-priced wannabe amp dies
Yup! The sum of the parts don’t add up. A silly product.
Audiophile Beard. Sure to make vintage systems sound funkier
Very intrigued with this amp.
If I read the specs correctly, the rated power is 25 W at 1 kHz. It’s been a while since I’ve seen an amp rated at a narrow frequency.
I would like to hear this amp.but I found that my low powered 35wpc Crown D-45 is actually an incredible Amp! My Crown Power Line Three is an amazing match with Klipsch Heritage Series ,as was a Crown DC300a ll that I picked up in the early 90's,when I owned a pair of raw birch Heresy's.It was the only amp that produced deep bass out of my heresey's ,and my small Crown D-45 is the best Headphone Amp I have ever heard! Thanx, chris
Having the Klipsch give you the opportunity to enjoy stuff that is quality not quantity. Or even classic tube amps, I suppose. Stuff that is off the menu for people with those big power sink speakers.
Another amp with lateral FETs from Exicon. Like Kinki Studio amps. I built some DIY amps with these FETs and I'm also very happy with them. Better than my previous Hegel amp (to my ears).
I myself I go out I'm in my sixties and I buy a lot of stuff off of eBay that's not working I refab and I pass it on to people that price that they can afford to buy it I have saved a lot of receivers from going into the junk pile as well as speakers I reform them I also rebuild the crossover networks in them so they sound as good if not better than it did when they were new this is a hobby that I love to do I don't make a lot of money doing it I just enjoy doing it and I try to keep it affordable for people
it looks nice. like to check it out one day.
I have that Kronos CD. I’ll fire it up later. Great musical choices and headphones to drool over!
Everything is subjective. Had my Arcam Aplha-8 restored last year for 10% of this cost. Driving my Cornwalls v1 it’s my keeper system when I retire and downsize.
Linda Ronstad sang in a Phillip Glass opera record called “1000 airplanes on the roof” in 1989
Hi Steve - I have to confess that I watch your reviews as much for music recommendations as I do the gear. I wanted to say thank you for the Nils Frahm "Felt" recommendation. I've not heard anything quite like it. At times it almost sounds as if I'm inside the piano. It's wonderfully involving music.
Great!
Hey, I have and use a Sansui AU-717 AV receiver. Cool!
That is so cool! My second-ever amp was the legendary AU101!
This fully restored one is in my system for close to 3 years and it drives those Tannoy great! Plus the phono preamp is very good.
Thanks. Compared to hpa-1 as headphone amp only would be appreciated. Best wishes
Sometimes I like to hook a small amp up to my giant horn speakers its fun to see audiophiles search for the amplifier.
Well, very large speakers tend to be high sensitivity, so sure small amps can work wonders. But small speakers are very low sensitivity and don’t work well with small amps.
How does the sound compare to the schitt ragnarok2?
The system of the day is of great taste. Bet it sounds great too
Thanks! That's my system and I am really happy with it!
Review the Starksound AD4 power amp. It is interesting!
Hey Steve, how does this compare to the AVA Set 120 control amp?
I would love to see a review of the Tannoy Eatons (like in the viewer's system of the day)
You never heard Linda Ronstadt sing “Heat Wave”? Her voice is so powerful and, Martha and the Vandellas could not hold a candle to it. For me that seeing a whole lot about her talent.
I run my Klipsch with a 30Wx2 NAD D3020 and at first I thought this amp would be a class AB version of my setup but now I'm thinking this amp is not really comparable to my class D...
Awesome
You screwed up around the 8 minute mark when making the Enleum vs Pass comparison. You said the Pass was Darker ( less bright) than THE PASS LABS GEAR. You mentioned PASS Twice. So we are left wondering....did you mean to say the ENLEUM was darker sounding OR was the Enleum more bright. Check it out
Are footers what used to be called feet? The price gives me cold footers!
Also, the feet are almost as tall as the amp, so I think they ruin the proportions.
And they're an extra $500 more! 🤣
I'm definitely a lover of small chassis components so this new amp really speaks to me. However, spending $6,250 for a product offering only a 2 year warranty from a manufacturer with no history of longevity and reliability is beyond scary and risky to me. Many years ago, I coveted owning an amp by GAS (Great American Sound). When I could finally afford one, the company was long gone. This says all you need to know about how I feel about buying expensive gear from new companies without a track record of being around for a minimum of 20+ years....like Linn, Audio Research, McIntosh, et al.
Exactly! For the price of this I could buy a brand new Bryston 4B amp ($6800) and have a 20 year warranty and if anything goes wrong they will fix it. Bryston have been around for 40+ years and they aren't going anywhere. A measly 2 year warranty made in South Korea product ain't gonna cut it with me no matter how great the thing sounds.
Amen brother!!
Being a happy Bakoon International amp owner and "fanboy" - the company behind the Enleum brand has been in operation since 2009. In principle I agree with you about always having to think twice about "longevity" - but in this particular case, I'd just advice you to listen to the amp first anyway. Or check out some of the many other reviews out there for this new AMP-23R. That should put your fears to rest.
Thanks…just not my cup of tea. I like classic brands with lots of history. Just different strokes. Enjoy.
It's (to an extent) a rebrand of an existing product
Wow! Quite a staggering array of very narrow minded and misinformed views on this post! Firstly, last time I looked, South Korea is making some of the highest quality electronics on the planet.....why is made in America any better than made in S Korea? And by all accounts this is a world class speaker amp and headphone amp in one package. I just bought one so I must be an idiot too! But likely I can use the enleum to replace two tube based amps that are heavy, inefficient, get uncomfortably hot in summer, can be noisy and need tube management. No, I won't give up my tube amps, but the Enleum is an interesting product for a niche market. Who says $6250 for the enleum is crazy but $80,000 for Kondo is ok? It's all subjective. If you can afford it and it meets your needs....why not? Are we going to start pricing Amps by the kg? This amp has Bakoon DNA....who have made a number of very well reviewed Amps....so this isn't an amp from a new kid on the block....it has good form. Strange lots of folks are picking on Enleum....chord products are generally light and have nothing special component wise.....but I don't hear the same level of criticism about " the Dave" for example?
Nobody wants to admit they made a poor purchase decision. You sound like a nobody.
Please send me one for my birthday if possible. Pm me and I will provide my shipping address. Thank you so very much, you are awesome my friend!
✌️😎👍
if Leica made an amp this would be it.
Very apt comparison. Although Leica has a century of excellence behind it, and this little box doesn’t. I know very well what a Leica can do. Never heard an Enleum.
@@greganderson1681 i think the same people who would buy this are the same people who would buy a Leica Q2. they probably would not buy a Q2 to take wedding photos or post vlogs on facebook
I have the prior flagship and these are the real deal. Glad you found these amps Steve! I have these in my fleetwoods and the are a fantastic pairing!!
My buddy ditched his Enleum 23 and he uses the Deville's as well. He preferred both the Valvet E3 and Luxman 595 over the Enleum for the Fleetwoods. Just sayin so you might want to check em out if you can
had a chance to demo one locally (595), its good…but like steve mentioned, it was just another amp for me…the Enleum (bakoon) sounds more natural, yet lively, especially when the speakers start to approach sensitivity over 91 (1w/1m) or so.. also the Devilles are low excursion/stiff, I wouldn’t add anything that needs to control it more than what it already does so well naturally. You’re just artificially punching and stopping the woofer more… The 595, compared to the Enleum is a more flexible amp for folks who arent settled on what lies ahead in the future in their mains…. The Enleum (Bakoon) sound put me on a more focused path of what to look for should i ever change my speakers…my previous amps kind of left me uncertain to the next pairing. Enleum (Bakoon) doesn’t do this…it will be with me for a long time.
If i can pull out the ‘my buddy…’ card too, (oem’s published his speaker reviews’ - not to mention an Ongaku amp collecting dust in his garage lol!) the Valvet gives the typical class A sound - whats new? Enleum is much aware of the Deville pairing. But thanks for the rec, no harm no foul! 👍🏼
@@labalo5 Just repeating what his experience was. Everybody's tastes are different. I have the Fleetwoods too and over a dozen amps in the stable so looking forward to seeing what works best for my individual taste. I hear the Enleum works well with the Cube Nenuphar's which I also have laying around so might pick up the 23R for myself.
@@billiondollarbaby3276 i hear yah..! No harm, no foul - all passion!
The main USP of this amp is that it has a variable gain design, but Steve doesn’t mention it once?
I have recently added the earlier Bakoon amp (15W) to my high sensitivity system. Pure magic. Beat out tubes and high power SS. The temptation is to add another Bakoon component in the chain!
What speakers are you using with the Bakoon?
@@joonkeum9457 DIY speakers based around the Beyma 15Xa38Nd coaxial driver (98db) in an oversized aperiodic cabinet (meant to suit the current drive amp topology). The cabinet design is an upscaled version of the Tannoy Cornetta corner cabs made for Japan only, with front-loaded horn. The Current drive amp adds a boost around the driver Fs that improved bass response.
Seems like someone who owns. a Bakoon would be down with this other S.Korean made amp.But yeah I guess the coni arris on I would have liked would haven been with the Schiit Freya+ and Aegir I.one underpriced and one overpriced going by current market prices. One would think that four times the price would pay off but for me I’d rather take the Freya and mix it with the Pass then have enough coin left over to go to Europe and back
kind of a newbie question. can you connect subwoofers to this? so 2.1 setup?
Yes, but limited to subwoofers that use speaker level inputs. That type of subwoofer runs off the amplifier’s speaker connectors. So yes, This is a little confusing, or may be a lot confusing, but the amplifier can be hooked up to speakers and a subwoofer of that type at the same time. REL subs are specifically designed with that application in mind.
Linda was brilliant.
Hi Steve, Missed seeing you at Axpona this year. Even bought an Audiophiliac t shirt in case we ran into you.
Sorry about that, I’m hoping for next year.
What is in this that prevents a company like Schiit from producing something like this. Is the sound from high tech expensive parts, ingenious circuits, precise parts matching, or something else. Should I wait for patents to expire. Give us a hint.
I think its too expensive for what it is, but the parts and labor needed to build an amp like this is very high. I can only guess, but it probably costs around $1500 to $2000 to build (parts and labor). Schiit uses off the shelf parts, so building one of their integrated amps is much less costly. If they wanted to make an amp like this, they would have to charge a lot more money.
I say “ hemp” three times fast every evening when I get home:)
How would it go compared with a 2 grand pre amp and 2x 2 grand monoblocks? For the same price wouldn't the monoblocks smoke it?
Knob feel is very very satisfying? 🤭🤭🤭
Should have really listened to some piano music. Then he would have got the superiority of the Bakoon designs.I have owned every sort of amplifier and nothing I have used sounds as good as my Japanese Bakoon. They are best with genuine 8 ohm speakers however.
I am straight up jealous of your viewer’s Tannoys 😍
I love them for sure!
Looks like it could be a great match for a desktops setup .. for headphone and speakers set up
Yes!
Find it funny how people get tied up with the 25w and do not realise it blows most 100w amps out of the water. Come on people don’t get tied up with companies claimed maxed watt output.
And Steve what the hell was going on with this weeks podcast? I couldn’t finish it.
Any comparisons to First Watt on the Cornwalls? I may have missed it, but can this be used as a power amp with separate preamp? Thanks
Thanks Ted, no it cannot be used as a separate power amp. I compared it with the Pass Labs XA 25 (same power rating as the Enleum) but no first watt amps.
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac No disrespect Steve but yes it can be used as a power amp with a preamp. I have the 23R and I use my Audio By Van Alstine FET Valve CF vacuum tube preamp as 1 of the 2 inputs to the 23R. The 23R is actually ideal for using a preamp because the volume control is a variable gain control, not an attenuator like you mentioned in your video. The other input to the 23R is a direct feed from DAC so I can compare the sound quality with and without the preamp in the chain.
@@iceshow4582 Thats sad when these guys review these products and dont even do their homework. Just get it in and get it out the door just as fast and bring in the next piece of gear. Like the McDonald's of High End Audio review.
Here is another small amp for the list. The VMV A1 from SMSL. Class A, 10w, small package. Costs $ 600 with remote control. Fantastic build quality. i was intrigued by the concept and bought it. And guess what, with my Audio Note AN-E speakers it is really good. Very clean sounding , huge soundstage front to back and side to side. Never aggressive and good bass. I had other amps to compare it to from Audio Research, Classé Audio and PS Audio. I sold them all. Just don't use it with power hungry speakers.
I have also the VMV...use it with Dynaudio Heritage...only 85 db but with goed behaviour concerning impedance...is very good when playing not too loud...
Great review Steve. It is zero global negative feedback design?
As for global zero feedback I don't know.
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac sorry, i meant zero global negative feedback 🙂
Zero feedback designs have high second order distortion and sound very pleasing. They measure terribly but I don’t care about SINAD.

This thing for $6,250 (2 yr warranty)or the beautiful legendary Pass Labs XA25 Class A 50 wpc (3 yr warranty) with Schitt Audio Freya Plus (5 yr warranty) for $6,000?
Consider sharing the music you use in the notes or a link.
Compare it with the Audiolab 6000A that is double the power and a quarter the price and reviewers are having kittens over it.
Love to hear what Herb thinks of this INT as compared to the Pass INT25 as I own that INT. Similar power and pricing. LeJon Kluo makes and INT for $4K similar power. You might love it. Fredrik should send you one. He also has the best laid out website for an informational viewpoint.
Missed you at Axpona. Hope your health is good.
25w is not a lot of power. But I’ve wondered at times how might 25 watts of class A or A/B power compare to ten times as many class D watts. Or even 2.5 watts of tube power. If only there was a way to have all of these things in the same place.. Is there truly a way to frame that within this format? Eh, maybe it’s a podcast
Hey, The 2 watts per channel Decware Zen Triode ampconstantly amazes me. For moderately loud level with moderately sensitive speakers you don't need a lot of power. Power IS required for 90 dB+ levels with dynamic clout-slam, absolutely, even with high sensitivity speakers, but not every listener is looking for that.
Thanks for that zen/aegir/brooklyn comp on the 600mII review! As a Brooklyn Amp owner with a Zen in production, I can’t wait to make this evaluation myself 😀
Very high end sound? And what does that mean?
If you don't know, why are you here?
@@iceshow4582 and you are telling me I’m the one who doesn’t know? - ha! Sure. Since you have it so clearly, please elaborate at least how you have drawn the conclusion. I am already expecting not to see an answer, so don’t you worry. It’s not your ignorance fault, the problem is bigger than you.
Click baits have become really really cheap by now.

Watts/price ratio isn't the only way to judge a design. Listening is another:)
Call me confused. How can this power the Maggie's after all I've been reading about them?
Well, it shows that reading is not the same thing as using. I used it with the LRS. I’m not saying it played super loud, but it was loud enough for me
It’s high current
Watches are far smaller and cost far more (and they only tell time), I'd take that amp over a Rolex any day.
Rolex has a name that has stood the test of time though. I believe this company's name goes all the way back to 2020.
Over 6k. It probably sounds good for it's size. But for the price they can keep it.
Exactly
I'll third that. For a third of the price - or less - you could get top of the line Schitt amp, preamp, and dac. I get SO sick and tired of companies that have a 10x markup 'because they can'.
Man inflation is really hitting everything. I heard that amp was $250 last year, lolz.
Ha!

Bakoon is a lot more fun to say.
Absolutely!
Might be related to Bakoon
Yes it is
Did I win something from you? There was a post saying I did but this sees to hard to complete the transaction? Please answer if you see this.
Why has Bakoon changed their name for the US?
I believe Bakoon JP (the original Bakoon) wanted their name back from Bakoon Intl (korean version) (now Enleum)
We have known about using feedback loops to limit THD for decades now so why are folks still peddling "zero-feedback" designs? Is this simply being iconoclastic or something else? I am genuinely curious.
Zero feedback is just another marketing ploy.

People who are familiar with your reviews should realize by now that price is not a factor in your evaluations. That’s fine for some. Just not for 99% of stereo equipment buyers out there. That’s okay. If people enjoy hearing about items that have an outrageous quality to price ratio, fine. So be it. Judging by the number of your subscribers that’s clearly a lot of us. 🤣

@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Yes sir, I agree. Thanks for the reply. Honored that you would take the time to do so.👍
Love you Steve but it’s getting harder and harder to “swallow” the prices these company’s come up with. Minimalist design, minimal parts then you have buy the phono preamp and/or DAC which could potentially triple the price and you still don’t have speakers or turntable.
Insane price for only 25W! I would never throw that kind of money away with so many better and more powerful options available for much less.
25W not even enough to power a soundbar or desktop monitors. LOL
Thanks for the review. I've become a bit numb to high end audio prices and the questionable price/value issue of some gear, but the idea of a flea powered amp made cheaply overseas selling for $6000. offends me.
OK, I hear you. But my job here is to present a wide variety of products for entertainment and information purposes. This isn’t the shopping network!
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Not criticizing you, however, that condescending "shopping network" comment sounds like a slam on your viewers who cant or won't pay outrageous prices for audio gear. I can afford it, but I have more common sense than to buy it.
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac thank you for reviewing this amp, but I agree that a Korean-made engineered and made amp, is just an American company looking for a specific group to sell to.
I agree, I'm not sure where that price tag is coming from! What are the components that are lifting the price that high??
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac I think the subscriber makes a very valid observation! Shopping Network or not.
High end my arsh! It’s 6200 bucks for hardly any inputs??
Tix tousand dollars!!!??
I couldn't believe it also. It looks like a Chinese amp.
Prefer the original design tbh
Rather expensive
You lost me as soon as yu said "six thousand...".
Did you miss the part where I said very high end?:)
Wouldn’t ‘very high end’ be the likes of Boulder, CH Precision, Gryphon, etc.?
Very high end in price, ;-)
@@RennieAsh Have you heard it? I doubt it.
@@iceshow4582 Yeah, because it's too costly :) No matter how "good" it sounds, it's still expensive. I doubt you'd be able to tell how good it sounds if you didn't see what was playing and the price :)
