- The J26 David in War Thunder is the latest Battle Pass vehicle. It's a 3.7 Plane that's literally copy and pasted from the P-51C in the US Tech Tree. Along with the Chad Tuskegee Airmen model!
He's about to show you a little trick he learned! :)
Armed with 4 .50 cal machineguns and hard points for armament, it's not a bad little plane! It's just there's a lot better options for Sweden at this BR and even lower.

I forgot to add the bit where I discussed the Chad Tuskegee Airmen sitting in the pilot seat. That's because Gaijin copied the P-51C from the US Air Tree and just put a Swedish skin on it. I hope they just keep it like this and we can call him David! :)

I think the point of the battle passes now seem to be the decals and extra stuff not the vehicles which is a shame
I actually enjoyed flying the P 51 c in air rb. US teammates, however, made flying it unbearable; 8 guys dive to get one bomber on the deck lol. This plane might be kinda cool to play without US teammates.

The Pyorremyrsky is available in the warbond shop now which is far superior to the David. You can make enough warbonds to get it without paying if you have the patience to grind till lvl 80
I saw that too and it made me laugh. The warbond shop pyorremyrsky is significantly better than another P-51C and they're both swedish no less lol.
I have a terrible time with the pomeranian, but I am terrible.

David is pretty good to pair with 3.7 line up. J-22B has more firepower but David has bombs, better climb rate, better speed.

I believe that David is the D in the Swedish phonetic alphabet. So if this vehicle were to follow all other models in War Thunder it should be named J26D. David is just like Delta in the NATO phonetic alphabet. I have no idea why they named it David while all other A, B, C, D, E... variants of vehicles only have that one letter instead of Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo...
Can confirm, this is correct. Swedish phonetic alphabet consist only of male first names, so is actually a bit more consistent than the English version.
@@OberonTitanicusRex to build on this: in the swedish airforce, divisions used to be referred to by a colour and a phonetic alphabet letter, "Adam Gul" (Alpha Yellow) for example. However iirc, planes within a division also had their own phonetic letter for that specific plane. This can be seen most notably on the swedish propeller planes and early jets (J29, A/J32.) So in this case, we have a "David" in some white division. However, either there is some exception to what I said, I got something wrong or Gaijin got something wrong because the airforce flotilla F16 Uppsala didnt have any white divisions from what I could find.
@@Amexel I don't know the Swedish history of the plane, but in prior service this plane truly was just a standard US P-51C which due to some issue was forced to make a landing on a Swedish airfield. Because Sweden was neutral in the war they were required to inter the plane for the duration of the war. Rather than just have it sit there for however long it was decided that the Swedish would pay the US for the plane and take it into their own service instead. So while they got this plane and a few others through this method, what they actually acquired wasn't an intentional plane purchase plan but kind of a mishmash of variants due to pilots who got lost or had to make emergency landings.
They did do this before with the French "Dora", which is just a P51c, but with a different camo

Iirc, stuff like David was part of the ID system. Basically letter on the tail and its color = short ID code. So this one is White David. You could also for example have Red Adam, Yellow Bertil etc.
Not 100% sure how the system worked but afaik the color was the division color and the letter was kinda which member of the division.
Also, apparently Sweden developed explosive rounds for the .50 cals to keep some of the firepower of the 13,2 mm guns when they changed barrels. If gaijin added those this thing could be an interesting BP plane.
Not to mention the fake camo they ripped from the Tamiya model kit... LMA0

Now we need a "Goliath" plane, preferably from the Soviet tech tree, natural enemies right there.

I'm not opposed to battlepass vehicles being reskins with some variations in loadout from the tech tree versions honestly. As someone who hasn't been playing for too long, it kinda sucks knowing that there are a ton of unique, fun and overpowered vehicles from previous battlepasses that I'll never be able to get.
I totally agree man. reskins and such is what you should expect from a battlepass, it is not a event after all. But I don’t have time to grind events and get cool tanks so it would be nice to get them by battlepass
As a long time player I think its a bit of a mixed bag. I don't mind reskinned vehicles for Battlepasses. I actually prefer them over some sort of mass produced vehicle which should be in the tech tree (EBR). But at the same time, copy paste vehicles (especially when its a copy paste from just 2 battle passes ago) aren't really interesting. That's where the main issues comes in for Gaijin though. They have to get players to look at the vehicles available in the battle pass and say, "Yeah, that's worth 2000-2500 GE" and copy paste (especially bad copy paste) vehicles just don't really tend to do that. Personally I will be completely sitting out this Battle pass. I did the first 9 Battlepasses in their entirety and while I did get to level 92 on the 10th (the season that just completed) I didn't pay for it because the vehicles didn't interest me. I only went as far as I did because i wanted the Generie from the warbond shop. This season though I have all of the good vehicles in the shop so I will be sitting out this Battle Pass in its entirety with no actual attempt to unlock anything.

I say they should make them available for eagles once in a while.
The only worthwhile one was EBR from season 1, others suck or at least aren’t very competitive but still unique, now it’s just reskins that’s why ppl are pissed.
I love the Mustang, Apache and I use the F-6C to strafe the engine decks of the Pz.IVs. Would be cool if there was some camera mechanic in the game. That would make the F6-C unique (..and recon Spit). As for the Swedish P-51.. there's and old Tom Green song with a verse that can sum it up really well. It will make me play them just because this plane is available there.

Apparently that P-51 is the older version before it was upgraded with the Merlin engine and the 6 50s.
P-51C (this plane) was kinda like a midpoint - still used the older razorback design of the early P-51s and didn't have 6x .50cals but it did have the Merlin like the later versions

The only reason why it is called "David" is because Gaijin saw the first Mustang in Swedish service was given the callsign "David" in it's squadron.
Swedes have it so you are in Red, Blue, Yellow Squadron. In each Squadron, you are callsign Adam, Bertil, David, Cesar. ABCD.
So, if I am the leader of a Squadron, I would talk over the radio as "Red Adam calling Red Bertil, over." within the Squadron.
You even see the 16 on the fuselage, that's Uppland's Airforce Flotilla (F16).

It is actually "White David" and it is the call sign for this individual aircarft in the wing. All Swedish aircraft had or has similar call signs. It has changed a little bit. Instead of Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Sweden uses Adam, Bertil, Cesar etc. David is the fourth there for D obviously.. Simple as that.
And it is not a P-51C, but a B
It was the first emergency landed P-51B in Sweden and was bought by Sweden and later used. A couple others were used for spares, only.

With regards to the BP itself, yeah. It's pretty lackluster just like the one with the Elefant

Sweden, or rather Finland, have a good tanks at br 3.7, and this plane is a good addition to the setup. So yeah, it is a copy-paste, but not a bad one actually, it makes a sense.

Try taking out the Jpz 4-5 with the Ar-234 i'va not seen many people play either of the two on youtube so you could give it a go.

I usually take P-51's or P-40's out in GRB depending on the BR because I absolutely hate CAS Nd I'd rather see them explode on the ground. Most of the time if I do use planes it's to do Anti-CAS which is what planes like this are good for.

Came back a few days ago after about months of not playing and ontop of garbage vehicles they also removed the Tier 15 vehicle? After searching apparently they replaced it with premium but thats also gone?
The BP have been garbage for a while now, this one could of been interesting if they gave us the Centurion that had the 20mm coax.

David comes from the letter on the tailfin... basically the swedish version of nato codeletters is adam, bertil, caesar, david, .... so, white david.
Regarding the .50 cal mg's, as far as I know, sweden decided to drop the 13.2mm's for 12.7's because of the amount of cheap guns and ammunition on the market after ww2. Same thing with a bunch of planes... surplus shit left over after the war :)
Man i looked at the first plane coming in frame by frame and i cannot see it till you turn around and locked up. It's sometimes impossible to see planes

Im so unlucky i started playing war thunder when the free battle pass vehicles were the overpowed f2g and the itp m1. At that time, i didn't know how battlepass works and i didn't have rank 3 vehicles so i lost them and now planes are crap

Nah those are TOO good for the battle pass. Missing them and either not having the market or paying $300 for unique vehicles is BS
@@frostedbutts4340 I think making wacky paper vehicles for the battle pass is the best option, as then they might actually end up being rare. It’s much better for them to be rare than to be spammed constantly like the XP-50.

It irks me that people complain about this because its a P51B and its the only P51B we'll get probably since we have the Allison C D and A already
