  • Very few things compare to the adventure and memories made chasing big game in the back country with friends. This year, we decided to do it all on our own utilizing our horses and equipment in an attempt to fill our tags and freezers. The process began at the first of the year trying to figure out the gear and food needed for eight days, logistics and maintenance, and having to condition Missouri horses and ourselves for the altitude and terrain the mountain would provide. One week from leaving, our buddy WingNut joined our crew with a couple of green horses and provided us with more excitement and entertainment than expected. Thanks for checking out our video of our experience, like the page and comment your thoughts below.

When you pick Red up next year, he'll be more used to that saddle ;-)

I bet Red would be tasty in a stew. That's probably what I'd had done with him 😂
    Great video

That horse was not broke to pack. Like asking a third grader to do a sixth grader’s homework. Not gonna happen.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to have worked with him a month before the trip???

Absolutely! It wasn’t my horse though. I’ve spent quite a bit of time with my own horses working on packing, hobbling, etc. I have also urged others to do the same.

We were due back home and we have some friends that live out there. We knew they would have a better chance of catching him among their horses then searching that day.

Why did you not just pack on one of the other horses and ride red. Could not have been that hard to catch red , better than just dumping him,and leaving him to the eliments, or am I missing something ?

Thanks for watching! This was not my horse but he was green broke at best for riding as well.

@@TrentBusenbarkOutdoors I don’t know how much you know about packing, but whoever decided to bring him was risking the whole trip for all of you guys and your stock. One horse can trigger rodeo and stampede for everybody. That horse should not have been there. Worse yet when he was repeatedly asked to do far more than he was qualified to do, and kept failing, the owner made a loser out of him, and then he ran off, and no effort was put in to catch up. This shows very poorly on all the guys.

Agreed. The gentleman that brought him has some great horses. He did not disclose he was bringing two green horses. His back ground is roping and I think he greatly underestimated packing as a skill.

it is about time that we stopped eating meat and learned the benefits of the vegetarian diet.
killing animals for fun should be discouraged.

You've found yourself on the wrong side of UA-cam. You can step down off your pedestal, you are preaching to the wrong crowd. These animals are harvest to eat. God created us with canines to be omnivores. Amen.
