Series ~ How you can be in the perfect will of God
Romans 12:1-2 NIV
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. [2] Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.
The Word of God is the will of God
Sermon ~ The role of Prophecy in establishing God’s perfect will for my life
We make a mistake of taking Old Testament role of a Prophet and make it the same even today
In the Old Testament the Spirit of the Lord was upon the Prophet, a Priest and a King, hence it only the Prophet who could hear from God
But in the New Testament we all have the Spirit of God indwelling us
Meaning the role of the Prophet has changed in the New Testament
In the Old Testament the Prophet had revelation knowledge, what they told people was revelation, but what they tell us today is confirmation, what they tell you is something that you know already as a Spirit-filled child of God
Paul encounters Christ and Ananias is sent to confirm his vision
Acts 9:10-16 NIV
Acts 20:17-24 NKJV
Acts 21:8-14 NKJV
On the next day we who were Paul's companions departed and came to Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. [9] Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied. [10] And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. [11] When he had come to us, he took Paul's belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit, 'So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.'" [12] Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. [13] Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." [14] So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, "The will of the Lord be done."
The role of the Prophet today is to confirm what God has already told you, that’s if you learn to hear God’s voice for yourself
The filters we use to check if prophecy is from God or not:
•Does this prophecy line up with the Word of God or not?
2 Peter 1:19-21 NKJV
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; [20] knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, [21] for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
There’s no scripture in the Bible that will differ in principle with all the other scriptures
If you start with a flawed formula, your conclusion will be flawed
2 Peter 1:19-21 MSG
We couldn't be more sure of what we saw and heard-God's glory, God's voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You'll do well to keep focusing on it. It's the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts. The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. And why? Because it's not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God's Word.
•Does this prophecy produce liberty or bondage
Anytime any human being puts themselves in the place of God you must run away from God
2 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Words don’t only send a message or bring knowledge and information, they also impart spirits
2 Corinthians 3:17 NLT
Romans 8:15 NLT
2 Timothy 1:7 NLT
Revelation 19:9-10 NIV
Anyone or Angel that tells you to worship it is not from God
We preach Jesus, there’s salvation only in the name of Jesus Christ
•Does the prophecy glorify Jesus
Revelation 19:10 NIV
