8 years later and this song is still one of the best songs I've ever listened to. I've recently lost two members of my family, and it still hurts to this day. This song is cathartic and brings me to peace knowing that they're in a better place. Thank you Demon Hunter for creating the best music I've ever listened to. May you keep creating more and more amazing music. God bless.
If you see me losing ground Don't be afraid to lie I know the pain inside my heart Can't break the fear inside of yours And if you see me losing faith in what it means to die Don't let me leave before I know what lies beyond the stained-glass doors Save sorrow for the souls in doubt Bleed every care out Will you carry me down the aisle that final day With your tears and bones shaking from the weight? When you lower me down beneath that sky of grey Let the rain fall down and wash away your pain For every word we never spoke, We have a tear to cry For every silence's like a wall between a better you and I So if you see me losing sight of all the death and life Find the peace in every time I fail to see the death in mine Let all the fear inside you drown Tear out the blade that let you down Save sorrow for the souls in doubt Bleed every care out Will you carry me down the aisle that final day With your tears and bones shaking from the weight? When you lower me down beneath that sky of grey Let the rain fall down and wash away your pain O
Its 2022 and this song still wants to make me fall to my knees to praise god. Thank you lord for giving us demon hunter. They have helped many through you
I'm an atheist but this song really touches my soul in a way that makes me question... Edit: I'm a born-again disciple of Christ now and I couldn't be more at peace. The Lord saved me when I was teaching in Japan. Thanks to everyone in the comments for the love. God bless you all.
Romans 10:13 for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. If at anytime you you want to come to Christ read this ok: "Dear God, I thank you that you see me just as I am. I know I’ve sinned and walked away from you. I ask Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior today. I believe that He died for me and I believe that He rose again. I give you every part of me now. Please forgive me of my sins. Be my God. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You are a precious being, not an animal that spawned from an ape. I suggest you read the prophesies of the bible and see how things came true 100 and even thousands of years before they were predicted...then read book of revelation and see how it shows you whats happening to our world currently. Jesus loves you and I love you and its your choice...the road to heaven is narrow and the road to hell is wide. The bible clearly tells us how us Christians will be harassed and killed by the the new world order. thats already happening but eternity is a long time to be wrong. Test Jesus, and ask him to visit you or send a message in a dream. you'll be surprised. The world seems easy, but it's dying. God bless and feel free to reply if you want to talk. Jesus Bless and ROCK ON!
There is no question. Only answers. They're all written in His book. He died for you and me. We are not worthy, but made worthy through His sacrifice. Please reach out to me if you desire to know God and Jesus. Would love to have you in eternity.
Still boggles my mind, my favorite band, still to this day. Filmed Carry Me Down on the island I grew up on and on the beach I used to have football practice on. Wow.
Demon Hunter is my favourite band. Every time I hear this song, I cry 😢 When Ryan says let the fear inside you drown. I think of how we have to let go of fear because Satan wants us to be filled with fear. With Jesus, he can tear out the blade that pierced you. My mom recently died a year ago and she is in Heaven now. Just an emotional song. Love it so much. God Bless everyone in Jesus name.
One of the guys in my platoon choose this song for there funeral if he passed overseas. Goes into what's called the blue book. Who does what, who gets what, what you want done, who you want there out of your unit, ect. Listened to the song and it was in my blue book. This was in 09.
So we made this video with just a couple people and my friends in Demonhunter out on Whidbey Island. Where they made the movie The Ring. It was a cool, incredible, cinematic experience. There is something about making art with just your friends -- the result is beautiful like Carry Me Down. I love this video.
I saw this video and heard this song for the first time the day before one of my best childhood friends took his own life.. I'm in no way religious but this song is pinned to that event in my life forever, I feel like it means something. It started to rain when we arrived at the cemetery, and poured as we carried his casket, and for the first 5 years after, it rained on that day. Rest Easy S.E.C 84-08
I'm a pallbearer for my dad's funeral tomorrow. The lines For every word we never spoke We have a tear to cry For every silence like a wall Between a better you and I That puts into words what I don't know how to describe.
Im only 15 and ive been through more than anyone should ever have to go through. I was raised in church but i still doubted (i still do sometimes) my dad passed when i was 8. Afterwards my mom turned to alcohol for fulfillment. 7 years later im going through the same thing. Partying with my friends everynight at 2 am. Smokin dope, starting pain pills. Finally God convicted me through one of my friends to sober up. Its not easy but 3 months has goes real slow when you just sobered up. I thank God for what hes done for me and you should too
I'm sorry you lost your dad at such a young age. And in a way it sounds like you lost your mom too when she checked out with alcohol. I'm so sorry. I'm 31, and while neither of my parents died while I was young, they might as well have. They checked out. My mom was an alcoholic and dope head. I had the same behavior by the time I was 15-16. Thankfully God was merciful and brought me up out of a pit of despair when I was 20. I've gone on to be married to a wonderful man of God, raising 3 great children. God's been so good to me. It may feel hopeless and disparaging right now. I've been there. It's not an easy road to walk down. But I can tell you as someone on the other side, if your surrender to Christ it will get better. I'm not going to say it will be perfect, but He will be your source of strength and comfort as you walk this road. When I look back on where God has brought me from, I just weep. He will do the same for you if you let Him. I really hope things are better for you. God bless
I Like Old and New Music from Demon Hunter. The Newer stuff is more Crisp and better made even stronger messages. However that being said there were absolutely gems in Old Demon Hunter.
Anyone noticed that bald singers are always good?? ex: Ryan Clark from Demon Hunter David Draiman from Disturbed Howard Jones from Killswitch Chris Daughtry from Daughtry Michael Barnes from Red
I've been everywhere in this video I used to live in washington. This video was taken over on whidbey Island or Camano Island. I love Ryan's voice its just so magical...
...seriously, guys. Is this the place to be talking about all of this? Every stinkin' Solid State video I watch has people arguing to no end. If people wanna rant, rave, or simply bash God or Christians, then start a blog. Just appreciate the artists for the beauty they create.
@GoochRA I agree! They get more and more potentant with their Christian lyrics in each new album........the more they do the better they and their lyrics get!
In Loving Memory of Aaron Lee Truitt. Never was able to play this at his funeral as he requested. He loved Demon Hunter and would play this song back to back.
Kevin. . I miss you so much man!! We might have only been cousins but we grew up together as brothers... Losing you has been the hardest part of my life.... I will break the 800 hp record for the Honda single cam D16 and set it at 1,000+hp for us!!!
And now I have lost my father to a freak accident.. He was knocked off of a ladder while trimming his persimmon tree and broke his neck... All while I am out from work with a crushed left big toe...
My best friends brother commited suicide back in 2012 and this song broke us many drunken nights. My mom died the next year and this song held me in a dark place for many years
"In December of 2001, Aaron [Barkland] took his own life, just weeks before Christmas. I don't know what was going through his mind to drive him to that point, but it is safe to assume he felt alone and that no one cared. It was a terrible tragedy and was very hard for me to deal with, as well as his family and other friends. I kept thinking that if I was only more in touch and not away at school maybe things would be different. Aaron had written me a note in high school about our friendship that I had always carried around in my wallet, and still have to this day that I used to read whenever I was feeling down and out. It's a painful reminder of the pain of that loss. Fast forward to December 14th, 2007. We are shooting the video for "Carry Me Down" in North Eastern Washington, up at Whidbey Island. I wasn't really aware of where we were shooting and all the locations and such. The first location we shot at was a bridge called Deception Pass, which was the bridge where Aaron took his life, 6 years earlier on almost the same day. I had not been up to the bridge in those 6 years, and now showing up there unannounced was a little unsettling. Interestingly enough, we were shooting a video for a song about a funeral and the hope we have of Life after death."
Many many many years listing this son, since I was a 14 years old boy. I still listen to this awesome band. Cheers from Guatemala :) Ps. Would you mind launching a "remastered" version of the old videos? :)
Got their first CD back in 02 then saw them on their first tour. Just wanted to stop in and say, if you know you know. It would be a hard life without DH in it.
What i meant by that terminology was that without knowing for yourself what a person or thing is like you shouldnt judge it because some book says that its or he/she is bad. I love the sound of this man's voice. I want to ask him how much the tattoos on his head hurt, had to be close to passing out. I was shaking when I had a big part of my arm done.
He said in an interview that is was painful. He thought years and years of shaving would have have calloused it a bit but nope, he said it still hurt. Don’t ask what interview cause I can’t remember haha
I listened to this song way back 2009. And im still listening to it. 2024.
Solid tune
❤❤❤

At least 9 years for me too. Great music and very helpful. I am sorry for your loss and hope you are doing ok
Check out Dream Theater song The Spirit Carries On
15 years later still great
If you see me losing ground
Don't be afraid to lie
I know the pain inside my heart
Can't break the fear inside of yours
And if you see me losing faith in what it means to die
Don't let me leave before I know what lies beyond the stained-glass doors
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out
Will you carry me down the aisle that final day
With your tears and bones shaking from the weight?
When you lower me down beneath that sky of grey
Let the rain fall down and wash away your pain
For every word we never spoke,
We have a tear to cry
For every silence's like a wall between a better you and I
So if you see me losing sight of all the death and life
Find the peace in every time I fail to see the death in mine
Let all the fear inside you drown
Tear out the blade that let you down
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out
Will you carry me down the aisle that final day
With your tears and bones shaking from the weight?
When you lower me down beneath that sky of grey
Let the rain fall down and wash away your pain
O
*With your tears and cold hands shaking from the weight
Is it wrong that I’ve already decided I want this song played at my funeral?
Nope
You should listen hurt from Johnny cash
Same here. And Seven Nations "Twelve"
Nope, I would like this song played at my funeral too.
I heard this two days ago and I decided
Its 2022 and this song still wants to make me fall to my knees to praise god. Thank you lord for giving us demon hunter. They have helped many through you
God is GOOD
Romans 8:28-30

I'm not an atheist but I've turned my back on God far too many times. This is one of the songs that keeps my soul inspired and looking towards Him.
Miguel Lewis it means god is trying to contacted you by power of music pleas accepted his offer

this song might not be metal but the band is def metal. and the songs they do that are not metal are some of my favorites.

@sigma001337 I agree, for me it's a toss up of this or "The tide began to rise"
