14k Bar ch to berth 01 05 2013

This is a screen capture of a Transas Simulator at Cal Maritime of a 14k teu container vessel inbound to Oakland, CA Inner Harbor. In this simulation there is a wind of 15kts from the West and an ebb tide of 1kt running to the Northwest. 19 SFBPilots participated in a week long study to determine the feasibility of bringing the largest ship to ever come to a West Coast port. The study determined the tug requirements and maximum environmentals allowed.
The video runs at 10 times realtime. The tugs on the stern are being used in the Team Towing or T-squared method.
