I just feel compelled to say - thank you for listening. The makeup talk is fun, but thanks for hearing me out on the "life" side of things. Sometimes it feels lonely when a family member is going through something. You just feel like everyone else in the world its thriving and you're in the trenches. I'm not here to pretend life is perfect, I'm here to be real... and maybe help at least one person out there not feel alone if they or a loved one is in a tough spot. So happy to hear your dad is cancer free. I truly hope he is feeling better and stronger.soon. My dad had lung cancer and went thru surgery and treatment when he was in his 70’s. He remained positive and active and, bless him, he lived until he was 90! I will keep your dad and your family in my prayers.

It's not just new teachers. I taught for 17 yrs, switched careers 2 yrs ago, and have been so much healthier since changing. I still am in contact with public.

Ugh praying for him Em I had a dose of Red Devil and immediately had a allergic reaction. On my first dose of chemo . Not a great start . Ended up with another chemo I’m out 5 yrs . Doing great so far . Stay strong praying for your entire family. ❤ Love from California.
Oh wow the same thing happened to my mom on her first dose of chemo. I wonder if it was the same kind? Her throat immediately closed up and couldn’t breathe on her first treatment. She is still traumatized from that to this day 😳 she said it was the scariest thing she’s ever been through. She’s fine now though. Glad to hear you’re doing great 😊
Hey Emily! I went through many rounds of 'the red devil' last year when I had chemo. The side effects are gnarly, but I made it through ok and so will your dad! I have Stage 3c breast cancer and had a double mastectomy on 1/24/24. I'll also be starting 6 weeks of daily radiation in March, then more chemo for my lymph nodes. I just wanted you to know that all through my cancer journey so far I have loved watching your videos. I've been a subscriber since you were in your Beauty Broadcast/apartment days! I'm 45 and plan on being around for many more years! Thank you so much for bringing me (and everyone else) a sense of calm and belonging. I appreciate you so much!

Sorry for your darn cancer diagnosis. 😢 Sorry that you’re having to go through all the stuff. I hope you’re doing ok. If I had only one wish, I would wish there would be a cure for all cancers. It seems every where I turn, someone is being diagnosed with cancer. I think by now, every family has been affected by this awful disease. There needs to be a cure for it

I’m sorry to hear about your dad. I went through these same things with my dad. He had Leukemia and he also was so tough. Went to work everyday and was a champ during his chemo treatments. So I understand, and I am praying for good health for your dad . We love you and your whole family.

I love popcorn too! My favorite thing to add now is nutritional yeast! My husband is vegan and it adds a cheesy flavor. You can get it in flavors like garlic and herb! Mixed with a little butter... So good!

Thanks for being open and honest about your dad. I had chemo and radiation , I feel it, it does catch up , Boyer you and then gets better. After I was cleared, I give blood, as often as possible , for folks like your dad . Not bragging, just reminding everyone it is easy and fast to give blood and help those in need

My mom had lymphoma and chemo and I know how your feeling. It's hard on their bodies also they are weak and tired, it's a big ordeal. Such great news about your dad. I’m heading in for treatment 11 next week. I’m dealing with non small cell lung cancer (non smoker). Doing well and the tumor has decreased by 40 percent. It does take a toll on you. I am filing two chemotherapy drugs along with an immunotherapy drug every 3 weeks. Can’t wait to hear the words your dad was able to hear. So happy for all of you. ❤

And for my soapbox speech…that is why I’ve given blood and platelets regularly for four decades. It makes me realize how important it is when you hear personal stories. I often try to convince others to do the same. So if you can, go give blood! It truly does save lives. ❤

Cancer sucks. And it sucks that the treatments for cancer also suck.
My poppa had lung cancer. He was a fireman and a smoker. He got super lucky! They cut out like half of one lung or something like that. The camcer happened before i was born in 89 and he stayed cancer free till he passed in 2012. Camcer has hit many people i love. Its so hard watching them go through it knowing im so limited on helping. All you want to do is take it all away from them but all you can do is try to help keep them healthy, comfortable, and distracted. Cancer just sucks..

Chemo is rough stuff. In the 90's my husband's testicular cancer returned to lymph nodes in the chest. Inoperable. He was treated with cisplatin, bleomycin and DB13. It nearly killed him, literally. But he's still here today! I can so relate to what you've gone through.

I’m a 20 year veteran teacher. The first year I caught EVERYTHING the kids had. This is the first year since my first that I actually got the flu. I’m feeling miserable but I have a chance to get caught up on your videos.

So happy to hear your dad is doing better! I understand how you feel my daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 Cervical Cancer and Thyroid Cancer. She has gone threw Chemo and Radiation treatments and are waiting for her Pet Scan at the end of the month. It's so hard getting on with your day to day life when this is always in the back of your mind, you just have to take one day at a time and pray that God has a plan. It's so hard though when you take one step forward and five steps back.
I’ve been loving the new Maybelline Build a Brow-it has the best brow marker I’ve ever used with just the right amount of tint and a perfectly sized brush tip. The clear brow gel is also good, I just wish there were a little more of it.

Emily, just wanted to give you some strength. I just dealt with this with my dad, being his caregiver and after several rounds of chemo, he passed. Nobody can possibly understand the rollercoaster unless they go through it. I am so happy your dad is doing well - cherish these moments.
I recommend reading the book "Its okay that youre not okay" by Megan Devine. Nothing has helped me more than this book. For anyone dealing with anticipatory grief, grief, or supporting loved ones dealing with grief, this book is a light in the darkness.

Wow thanks for the book recommendation. Our family has been hit with the awful cancer trauma twice now. My mom just “beat” it (knock on wood), and now my stepdad, her husband, has been diagnosed with cancer, with a much worse diagnosis than my mom. My mom and I haven’t really had to deal with much grief or trauma in our lives until now. So I’m struggling with what to say, what to think, how to feel. I was wondering if there was any good books to help cope with all this stuff happening. I’m going to look into that book! ☺️🙏🏼
@EnvyBlu I'm so sorry about your family's experience. This book will help you feel like you're not alone, you are not crazy, and your feelings are normal. Our society doesn't know how to deal with grief of any kind - which makes everything worse. We can tend to our grief without increasing the suffering.

Hi Emily, I also have a blood cancer. When I was going through the harsh chemo, the first year to year and a half I was hospitalized quite a bit. I couldn’t even fight a cold. I am saying this not to scare you but to warn you this may happen for some time. I hope your father heals fast and does well but sometimes people think they can “fight it off” and I try to tell as many cancer patients to not get that attitude. Things can turn bad fast and we all need advocates. God bless you, your father, and family ☺️
Just a tip for the bronzer, shake the bottle alot the put some of it on the back of your hand, then work it into your brush or sponge evenly and to be able to control the amount that will get deposited on the face. If You do this you will have more control over the amount, placement and it will also stop any patchy areas from happening too . Do this with all creams and liquids and u can presicly apply the products where you want it, also it heats up the product so that way they will apply better too!
It was so heartening to hear your dad is where he needed to be. It will take him time to rebuild his strength but once those white blood cells improve he will have some more immunity thus getting back to life again. Bless him. ❤

I hear you Emily. I'm at the hospital watching my mother lose ground and she will pass away, though we don't know when. Very hard to watch them struggle with pain, isolation, and end of life decisions. However, my mom is at peace knowing she's going straight to the lord. She's lived a lot in 94 years, and lost a lot. Now she's looking forward to going home. Don't lose the hope He has given us. Lean on Him. He's got this.

8:31 - oohoohooh i have a great tip for the eye corner issue! I use one of those “eyeshadow smudger” brushes (a small sponge tip on an eyeshadow brush handle) to clean out the eye corner after applying makeup or throughout the day. I keep one with my shadow brushes and one with my touchup bag at work - just gotta wash them regularly! It has saved many an eye look from that buildup as well as scratched an itch and scooped out a stray piece of mascara, etc. 👍🧡👍🧡

EM. Less serious response but... Best homemade popcorn ever: Heat a small amount of coconut oil in a pan on the stovetop. Pop your 1/4c or less of popcorn when one kernel sizzles thrown into the oil. Get a big brown paper bag and dump the popcorn in it. Sprinkle with Lawry's seasoning salt and Spud Fixin's Honey Cinnamon Shaker. Oh My Gosh. It's the best popcorn my husband makes. 🍿
Also….i love that you use Tony’s seasoning on popcorn. The south Louisiana woman in me got a good laugh out of that lol. If you need another great seasoning, the Cajun Ninja’s seasoning is wonderful. He’s a local food/internet personality who has a Cajun seasoning and also a fabulous cookbook. Just thought I’d share 😊
For me, Smashbox is too expensive to be average. I used to buy them a lot for eye shadow and just figured out that less expensive did better for me. Great to hear your dad is done with chemo! Prayer for the fever and recovery!

Wow-the eyelid eczema. I get it. I have had this off and on for years, mostly when I was in high school and using drugstore brands. I found d that using higher end eyeshadows prevents it from happening. Not sure why. Also found that coloring my hair helps prevent eczema on my scalp.

Of course it’s a tough time of year, but as a Chinese Med practitioner, the lungs are in charge of the skin. Every organ system has an emotion attached to it. For the lungs, it’s grief. I would encourage you to process the grief/sadness you are experiencing about your father’s current condition. Sometimes journaling can be helpful. You want to process how you’re feeling, and try not to hang on to it. Make sense? Thinking of you all.

The Physician’ Formula Butter Glow Bronzing Serum seems like it might be better under the foundation unless the foundation is full coverage. For very light skin I might try mixing some of it with a little foundation and then apply it.
