    Two statements in this video require a little tweaking. First, the honeybee isn't the closest thing mankind has a domesticated insect. That honor belongs to the Asian silkworm which wouldn't survive without our protection and selective breeding. Honeybees regularly swarm and escape from their owners . They do just fine out in the wild while adult silk moths can barely fly. Second, there are several , native bee species that can visit death camas flowers without fatalities. It's the nectar, not the pollen that our commercial honeybees finds so toxic in a death camas flower.

      You might have to take away some grass if you want the wild flowers to grow. Many wild flowers, at least where I live, need nutrition-poor soil to grow unlike most species of grass found in yards. Keep us updated though 👍

    The big bumble bee sting - horrific. One stung me, my brother, and our dog. Each of us got stung on our heads. Then, it chased us in the house. My dad was laughing so hard, he had a hard time chasing it out of the house. Felt like I got hit in the head with a brick. It was worse then a scorpion sting. (I’m lucky like that). I still don’t kill any bees. Here, we have several endangered sweat and pollen bees. I have planted a Mexican plum tree, and thanks to bees, I have plums growing!!! No need to buy a second one! I have planted fragrant blooms and milkweed for the bees and monarch butterflies as well. It is really interesting to see the variety of bees, butterflies, and other insects now that I’ve planted trees and flowers native to this area.

      @@wendymarie7151 Indeed they are capable of stinging, and unlike honeybee workers they don't die after stinging, the silver lining to it is that the sting won't be embedded into the skin like a honeybee would.
      It is also possible that it wasn't a bumblebee but a similar bee, bees can be very hard to distinguish from one another, I can't tell some types of solitary bees and flies apart from eachother, specially when they are flying.
      A personal anecdote I have on bumblebees, I have had two nests in my property, one of them occured naturally in a rodent hole, the other one I had set up myself, I would hang out near the nest entrance but I never got stung, just hovering very close, and the bees definitely know I was there, they are capable of locating us when we exhale carbon dioxide, insects are very sensitive to it, and some of them when living would fly circles around me, hive bees tend to that as a way to investigate things near their nest, they orientate themselves through landmarks, the only time I angered the bumblebees was when I lifted the stone slab serving as nest cover, they started coming out, buzzing angrily, so I slowly retreated and crouched near some bushes, they flew around for a few minutes but returned to their nest, I made sure the nest was properly covered, and when I went there an hour later, they were peacefully coming in and out. Very docile animals, but every species is different.

      @@wendymarie7151 A warning sign they give is raising their middle leg, and it looks almost like a wave, it is a way of telling us to back off, that and sometimes they buzz angrily when disturbed, it's a very distinct high pitched buzz, I've only heard it when I caught them with my net. They may also drop to the ground when they are disturbed when they're cold and can't easily warm up their flight muscles, which is very expensive. One thing to always avoid with any bee is breathing directly at them, they're very sensitive to carbon dioxide.

      @@vcd5841 I rescued a bumble bee years ago, saw it in my driveway, poor thing couldn't fly,so I gently pushed it onto my hand brought it inside and picked some flowers in my backyard, and a few days later, the bee was buzzing and I brought it back outside and placed it in my flowers. Never stung me, I have a photo of the bee sitting on a flower, next to my cat sitting in the window. But, it is wise to be careful around any type. Thank you so much for the information, very useful!

    Interesting. If the theory of evolution is correct, then what is the explanation about the close relationship between plants and bees, who appeared first, and how blind matter and random coincidence were known in the evolution of bees and plants for pollination and food

    • @the_linguist_ll
      @the_linguist_ll Місяць тому

      They evolved independently, then when bees started feeding from flowers, pollen got stuck to them, which helped pollinate flowers. Flowers then adapted to attract more bees. Not complicated.

This year, I watched several different species of bees (from sweat to metallic to regular bees)- all over the grape Kool-Aid scented blooms. My tree has 3 plums on it now! We have a rule here that we don’t kill any bees. I credit them for my plums. Hopefully next year, we will have even more! Also planting native plants.
