GCSE squad, helping tip: The narrator could be portrayed as a bad omen, talking about other bad omens, such as "shoes upon the table" and "someone broke the looking glass", and where he mentions the devil could be saying that he is symbolising the devil, and he causes all of the bad things and superstitions to come true
con oneill (mickey) always breaks me in this show, how he goes from so silly and bubbly and such an energetic child to such a broken soul, i fully lose it at the 'why didnt you give me away' line. its soul crushing, and it just makes me think of when previously hes crying as a kid saying he doesnt want to die but is told 'he has to' it hits so hard now. con deserved the award he won for his performance
This play is what made me want to be an actor because I would love to make people laugh and cry just like how these brilliant actors made me laugh and cry when I saw it on tour last year
I had the honor of seeing this cast in London in January of 1993. After a lifetime of Broadway stage shows, this was the ultimate... the BEST show I have ever seen.
Yes, me too. I've watched some of the others and, compared to this, they can only be described as mediocre at best. Don't think anyone else stood a chance as Mrs. Johnston, the narrator, Mickey or Eddie after these four!!
Wasn't this caused from Mrs Lyons saying that Mrs Johnstone was looking at the baby too much? Morale of the story: Fix small leaks before they flood the house.
I've watched Con O'Neil since his very early days in the Liverpool Everyman (Bouncers etc.) so talented - he truly deserved his 'Olivier' Award for the role of Micky - no one else can do it quite like him. Not forgetting another Scouse GENIUS - Willy Russell - how can he write such words and songs to tear your heart out time after time ? Wonderful man ! Thank you.
Saw the production three times in 1992 when I was in London for a semester abroad from the US. I have always loved this musical. I bought the CD and have played it so many times it no longer works. This is the first time i have been able to watch it since 1992 and I thank you a million times for posting this!!!
Thanks for uploading! Went to see this in nottingham last week, spent most of second half in tears....absolutely brilliant show - highly recommended - go see it if you can!!!
This is without a doubt the best musical i have ever had the pleasure to watch. The preformances were fantastic and so moving. The music was lovely. Overall truly unforgettable and so heart-warming. Brilliant.
i saw the blood brothers tour at the Opera House Blackpool last year,,with maureen nolan playing Mrs Johnstone,,,,,it was a fantastic performance by all,,very moving,,and as ever the ending is always an emotional scene,,,,,can't wait to see it again some time i think this one goes down as my favourite musical
Thank you so much for posting these 10 parts. I was working at Ticketmaster in 1988 when this cast opened, and the whole company was obsessed with the show. I saw this cast many times, including their very emotional final night. Many have come and gone since then, but this is the definitive cast. Cannot believe I get to see them again!
i knew the ending, didn't expected it to happen that quick, great cast, great ending. love it loads. I CRIED WHEN MRS JOHNSTONE BUT THERE HANDS TOGHTER :(
I’m in year 11 and we studied this in year 10 also. We went to see it live and by the end most of the people who went were crying (including me) and couldn’t stop! I have depression also so I can really relate to mickeys character. Forever one of my favourites ❤️
I have just done The Play Version playing The Narrator. Never left the stage once (apart from the interval) - was one of the hardest parts I've undertaken - but the best one by far. Will definitely do it again. Martin Owens-Cairns.
Thank you so much for uploading this musical. I love it, plus I need refernece for my Drama coursework :P But the ending always cracks me up! :( : : : :
God I totally got into it and then when she started singing Tell Me It's Not True, the emotion from Mrs Johnston was totally gone. Beautifully sung, but she was just singing, not acting I don't think. Beautiful play.
Gcse people the narrator could be a symbol of fate and unlike other narrators he interacts with the characters for example he hands Mrs Johnson the Bible that she swears on
thank you so much for putting this up. with the show finishing now we will be able to remember blood brothers as it was. before they revive and change it in the future. how did you get this?
@ReeBeccaaa96 There are several different versions of the ending. In this version, Mickey goes to the Town Hall because he's angry that Eddie has everything: money, a good job, an education, opportunity and lastly because he feels that Eddie has stolen Linda, the one thing he had left. If this scene, Mickey doesn't intend to shoot Eddie. The gun goes off accidentally as he gestures, and the policeman then shoots Mickey in response. In another version, Mrs Lyons shoot boths boys.
I'm a girl and i played mickey not only was it hard being a man but also having to be depressed and an adult but i think it went well i made my friends cry so :) but when i did this i had acted shaking however i was so nervous i had been shaking already and my leg looked like it was having a seizure but oh well (This is just to prove its alright for the girls to play boys and even when nervous or worried still go for it and do your best (make them cry) xxxx
WhatFandomAmIn I was mickey for my gcse drama exam it was hard but It was fun mickey is the best role my friends were shocked saying I was the best mickey and I was amazing they didn't relize it was me my teacher was amazed everyone was like wow she is good and shocked because I'm really quiet and shy
The downfall of Mickey gets me everytime, such a lively, imaginative kid turned into such a broken man gets me everytime
Ikr, it's such a good character arc. Makes me emotional too.
breaks my heart
agreed its genuinely heart breaking. mickeys actor played the part beautifully
doing this for third year English, and it kicks the piss out of romeo and juliet
Agreed
It’s actually amazing
R and J is shit
Well said

omg shoes up on the table is an old wives tale this gcse helping tip is so wrong ignore
Thank you!
Sasha Walker I always pictured him as everyone's conscience, only appearing when they need to be questioned
Thank you!!
Sasha Walker He's their conscience (or God if your religious).

'why didn't you give me away'..... I lost it.
14 years earlier:
Mickey: I don't wanna die
Linda: Oh Mickey you have too
When I saw it, with school, that's exactly what I thought
This play is what made me want to be an actor because I would love to make people laugh and cry just like how these brilliant actors made me laugh and cry when I saw it on tour last year
How’s it went??
I had the honor of seeing this cast in London in January of 1993. After a lifetime of Broadway stage shows, this was the ultimate... the BEST show I have ever seen.
It's a great story the bit that really gets me is when mrs J puts their hands together just thinking about it makes me well up
Sam chisnall yup same. I loose it every time
Sam chisnall currently sobbing
I’ve seen this at the west end London 5 x times and I always Leave tears running down my face with sore hands from clapping so hard 👍👍
con o'neill was the greatest performer of mickey of all.
george kills lennie is it just me or is con o'neill really cute
@@katiegriffiths1849 Oh, he is really really cute !!!
Is that name a spoiler!?
reading the play already made me sad enough but then watching con o neills performance really broke my heart, he portrayed Mickey VERY well
Well there’s this Sean guy…he’s pretty good.
Born on the same day, died on the same day, I'm literally in tears
Just goes to show, you don't need flashy sets to be a winning powerful show. The best! Can hardly type through the tears.
I saw this production, yes, I am that old! Still think it is the best version. Thanks for uploading it. 👏
It seems like the best version
Tri Monster I think it definitely is

Morale of the story: Fix small leaks before they flood the house.
I told my brother that he should get his small leak fixed. It turns out that he just liked to wet the bed. It was a kink apparently...
Mrs Lyons was just saying all the shit she could so she could have a reason to fire Mrs Johnston

This is what I'm doing for my unit 2 drama exam. I love this play. It's so good.
I love how Eddie sings in this version, rather than the narrator it makes much more sense! Always makes me cry, I wish they staged it like this now!
Am about to play Mickey in the play version, watching this was really helpful, thank you.

Jack's Mates Films well it have your legs a free workout of standing still.
Must be difficult being the narrator in this play, he's more involved than a main character
never sobbed so much in my life!
This musical is amazing! so well written!!! :-)
Wonderful show, but the end is to quick.
Agreed, the ending doesn't feel as good as the rest of the play. It feels very rushed in some ways.
Such is life.

Amazing.
Can someone explain what happend to Eddie's mother?
I also want to know. This was all her doing in the first place - asking to take one of the twins and raising them as her own.
Did you see that she shows Mickey Eddie and Whatshername hugging
MadChickenman linda
@@alexxx9659 you realise they were making out, not hugging. Like I doubt Mickey would kill Eddie over a hug😂
Learning about this in drama
