Thanks for the video's. It reminds me what a litter ridden place Egypt is. Such an interesting country but sadly not looked after. Buildings in poor state, railways in poor shape and little regards to animals and local environment. Thanks for posting and please stay safe!
"It’s apparently illegal to film train in Egypt." How long until that law spreads to the UK? :D Still nice video. It's so surreal to see 66s used on passenger trains.
They should send one to Britain and take the bits sticking up of the roof and take the big bit of where the horns are and the window grills off to make it look like a class 59.
Man, I'd love to know more about the carriages, I'm making some 3D models for a videogame and I need a bit of info of them, but I can't find them anywhere...
@@HSTHoward I did, even train drivers lol. I'm looking for technical drawings mainly, so it's totally fine if they don't know that kind of details. If only SEMAF or AOI would reply me :|
@@HSTHoward If I visited Cairo I am sure it would rain. When I visited Nessebar Bulgaria in 2016 we got a violent downpour that flooded the town. The locals said they had no rain for two months!!
@@HSTHoward it's in Morocco too it's not that it's illegal but once a train driver at Fes city Station told me that maybe there's a safety breach or sth that you might get with your camera that will put some people in trouble. But outside the station you can film as much as you like
Apparently this law also exists in Romania... or at least thats what some railway staff say. But i checked and its not true. You are only not allowed to tresspass or film for commercial purposes without permission. But some idiots still get angry at you for no reason, just because they have shitty lives or something... As for Egypt its probably because of security issues. Its not a very stable country, really, whereas for Morocco, the same thing occured to me when visiting Bulgaria. Luckily, the stationmaster said that we could film, only to play it safe at the station.
Stunning locos- just a shame they don’t care about them. So sad to see such hellfire traction going to waste :(
It is extremely cursed that the coaches are extremely taller than the locomotives pulling them.
Looks like a class 59 to me with those central front lights..
That was my first thought.
Design according ENR order
swearingkevo yes it does actualiy
swearingkevo it’s a 66 you can tell by the bogies
And the engine.

Absolutely. It’s another world...
Egypt is not the image you refer to. We do not deny that we have problems, but it is not our country, as you remember. Egypt is a beautiful country.

2:44 There are 3 classes on Egypt's trains First class, Standard class, and Buffer class
😂😂
"It’s apparently illegal to film train in Egypt."

That law will never spread to the UK. In the UK, you have the freedom to do what you want as long as you don’t harm anyone.
It is weird seeing 66s with coaches, though they get out on railtours quite often
Those shed bashers sure are hardcore- taking window hanging to the next level:-))
Great vid- how about the Polish 83s next?? Lots of sheds there too!!
Been there, done that (for Poland) I also stood on the locos buffers and rode between them and the stock. Awesome it was!
class 83 is no longer used here. We are now using our locomotives, just based on class 83.
@@jachufox1087 Thanks for the update- have any of the original locos been preserved?

Video wonderful and welcome to Egypt 👍
Like video of the class 66 .Very much.Take care.
Lovely class 66 footage
I'm glad you got videos of these :)
Great shots :)
Great video 👌📽
4:03 that train really didn't suit that horn.
You travelled a long way to see a sheds H, you captured some great horn action.
It was the main purpose of the trip!
Interesting capture
Excellent video.
Amazing 😍🙌
Him: Egyptian Railways Class 66
Me: hmmm class 59
Very nice
Excellent my friend 👍👍
Assume you're aware another one is on its way to Egypt? For the Talgo set(s). Just left the factory in the past few days!
So I see! Incredible, didn’t think I’d see another new build 66. So much for 779 being the last one!
Aah! I was wondering about these 66s
They should send one to Britain and take the bits sticking up of the roof and take the big bit of where the horns are and the window grills off to make it look like a class 59.
Very nice video! 👍 🙂
It’s quite strange that the 66s in Egypt look like 59s
Sure is strange! I like though, they stand out.
I take it the 59s are unique to Britain.......
That guy at teh buffer...
🤣
I’m new to trinspotting and I’m very confused , can someone explain why there is a class 66 in Egypt
Because they ordered some
The original class 66 design was so popular EMD started offering them as stock to other countries. Even the term 'Class 66' stuck.
2:56 busted
Dynamo -عفريته what Do You Mean
2:15 Why this locomotives is shorter from coaches..?
It’s built to UK gauge, the coaches are not
i want to go to egypt to see the train

Was this Alexandria? It looks green. Cairo only gets an inch of rain a year and Alexandria gets 7 or 8!
A mix of both! Whilst I was there in Cairo it rained.

Good trains. Why is it illegal to film trains in Egypt?
No idea!
It’s because of security, if you ask permission it should be ok but don’t do it if they say NO.
So how many did you get for haulage mate ;)
4 out of 5!
@@HSTHoward Result!
What the hell??? You can't film trains in egypt? What kind of a law is that??!!
Illegal to film trains in Egypt?
I’d like to know who created that law.
Likewise!

El Othemany I filmed on Fes station with permission last year no problem and on other stations in Morocco
