The sewing thimble may have seemed like a good idea at first, but I find a small tack hammer works much better at creating a nearly flush junction. Just be sure to back up the structure being hammered on with something to absorb the blows of the hammering so as not to break any glue joints.
I purchased a premade dollhouse. Probably more playscale. it came factory papered. The paper is sealed. Do I need to strip that off before applying tapewire? I imagine it would be pretty difficult. By the way, Thank you for the video. It has given me a big boost of confidence.
I was all prepared to do the wiring as you have shown in this video - it seems so simple! When I was at the mini store, the owner said that this doesn't last long, especially in humidity - we live in GA. I can't decide if what he says is true or if he wanted me to take a class to learn to wire the doll house. Have you had any troubles over the years with having to replace this type of wiring?
Joann Gordon I haven't had humidity problems but I have had problems recently with joints in the wiring coming loose and not working. When I have time I am going to try to learn how to do the round wire system.
I was wondering how you attached the outside light over the door??? I don't know if I missed that or what... you already have the wall paper up, did you attach the light before you installed the wallpaper? Thank you so much for these videos! I have enjoyed them so much.
How long does the copper tape last? years? because once it's in its not like you can go back down the road and fix the electricity. I just want to know if it's worth the extra work and money to put it in.
I think I put that information in the first video of the series but just in case I didn't, it was the Greenleaf dollhouses kit for the Spring Fling contest in 2011. I'm not sure if they still have it or not.
Thank you so much for all of this. I just ordered my first dollhouse kit and find the process very daunting. Your videos have been extremely helpful.
