    Recently (about a week ago I believe) the atheist apologist Daniel Dennett died. Although I am not a fan of Dennett, I was wondering if Dr. Craig has or plans to discuss his career and demise in an upcoming video.
    Edit: for anyone unfamiliar with Dennett, he is often referred to by his fans as one of the so-called "Four Horsemen of atheism" (a title I find amusingly pretentious) along with his colleagues Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and the also deceased Christopher Hitchens. That should give an idea as to how highly regarded he is by the secularist demographic.

    What’s the response to “Molinism is just calvinism with extra steps?”

    • @Loehengrin
      @Loehengrin 2 місяці тому +3

      As long as those extra steps make up what is lacking in Calvinism, then so be it. Plantinga arrived at Molinism from Calvinism. And he did that because he saw that Calvinism was lacking. Why not say that Molina was standing on determinist shoulders when he saw further?

      The real difference is that Molinism allows for human freedom, and Calvinism does not.
      The major problem on Calvinism is that the person is not responsible for their decisions, and is still damned for it.
      On Molinism, even though it still has a very strong sense of divine sovereignty, the person is in fact responsible, which fixes pretty serious problems.

    Does he not know the distinction between the knowledge of vision and the knowledge of simple intelligence? He's acting like God would only have the knowledge of vision.

    • @drcraigvideos
      @drcraigvideos  2 місяці тому +1

      He's very familiar with the distinction:
      "Defenders of divine timelessness such as Boethius, Anselm, and Aquinas thus typically maintained that all events in time are real to God and therefore can be known by Him via His scientia visionis (knowledge of vision)."

    I don't think these are the most pertinent objections... The worry about Molinism is that it makes God responsive to creatures, and thus tends towards Pelagianism

    • @cephandrius5281
      @cephandrius5281 2 місяці тому +1

      Question, would you apply this to all free-will theologies? Because I don't really see what's similar between Molinism and Pelagianism other than the affirmation of free will.

    • @leonardu6094

    • @drcraigvideos
      @drcraigvideos  2 місяці тому +1

      Since, on Molinism, God has middle knowledge prior to creating anything, there's no sense in which God's knowledge is responsive to creatures, since there are no creatures that yet exist. - RF Admin
