Personal theory about how Y3 might play out.
Edit: Deleted the introduction of the theory since it was pointed out that it was incorrect. The focus of the theory is not how it could happen though, so nothing's lost. I'll underline this is not a "how I think the story will happen", but a "how I think it could happen if this happens" theory.
Ayanokoji's father has Shiro transferred to have Ayanokoji expelled. Shiro probably transfers to Ayanokoji's previous class. The guy, however, has other plans.
In vol 0, Shiro invited Ayanokoji to leave the white room with him, choosing his freedom and to have a life instead of just basically being a human tool. If Shiro found out that Ayanokoji had voluntarily left and had been fighting the white room for two years now, I can see him decide to help Ayanokoji finally be free. And he would do that by essentially being the best resource possible for Ayanokoji's plan: defeat Ayanokoji fair and square, therefore proving that Ayanokoji, who is the white room's masterpiece, is not the perfect human, but that Shiro, who left the white room and whose abilities and identify are marked by his choice of freedom in the real world, is.
Now, it is said multiple times that the school is based on the idea of having students compete. Well, sorry, but there's no way in hell singular classes of a "normal" school can defeat someone who humiliates people that humiliate those same students. If the other classes want to defeat Ayanokoji when the guy is going all out (which if he doesn't I'm not seeing what's the point of his plan in the first place), they have to work together. Shiro could play a major part here, where he basically makes people understand that Ayanokoji cannot possibly be defeated via normal means, and that the only way to even HOPE of having a chance of thinking of defeating him, is by joining forces. Shiro would basically become the leader of the three classes, moving them to defeat Ayanokoji. Ayanokoji's year would become an even greater singularity than before, where the school literally had to have a test to force a student to be expelled.
I can also see Shiro managing to obtain the one resource Ayanokoji couldn't, Koenji, by having Koenji at full force facing Kiyotaka, and losing crushing his ego and having the guy fight seriously for his goal. All Shiro would have to do to achieve this is make sure that Koenji can't transfer to Kiyotaka's class without his approval, and promise that, should Koenji win, he would give him the points. If Koenji truly wants to graduate from class A, this will be a scenario he can't avoid.
Above all, I think Shiro's addition would be a really good addition for Ayanokoji's development as a character.
As we saw in Kiyotaka's relationship with Kei, people with darkness understand one another. Well, Shiro and Ayanokoji went through the same hell. Their darkness is the same. The big difference is that Shiro ultimately chose light and freedom while Ayanokoji remained in darkness. On many levels they are like two sides of the same coin. And what I read from vol 0 (just spoilers though) makes me think the author purposely has been trying to show exactly this duality between Shiro and Kiyo.
Now, Kiyo seems to want to follow the path that Shiro did years ago. I can see him have a favorable opinion of the guy. And depending on how Shiro deals with his approach with Kiyotaka, the two of them could establish a relationship of enemies, where Shiro would try to crush Kiyo in order to free him, while at the same time getting along as friends. And with Shiro and Kiyo sharing the same life experience and Shiro knowing full well what kind of person Kiyo is, Ayanokoji would be able to fully be himself around Shiro, showing both the surface and the deeper darkness that makes him who he is. And in the same way, Shiro would be fully himself around Kiyo. Also Shiro is also pointed as the one person who is the closest to being Ayanokoji's equal, so unlike the other characters, Ayanokoji would finally have someone who is also in "his world", instead of just another pawn or obstacle to be crushed. They would have a rival and friendship kind of relationship (on what is possible for them).
Since Ayanokoji seems to want to become more like Shiro, wanting freedom, friends and finally care for others (shown when he asks Kei to be his girlfriend), he probably wouldn't resist Shiro's influence on him, instead welcoming it and possibly start to change himself.
Awesome theory! And I hope it rally happens. I don’t see any other way for ayanokoji to lose, the entire 2 years he has always been miles ahead of everyone while not even going all out. Author made him way to op for horikita or the other clases to possibly defeat him. I mean bro literally told amasawa he didn’t bother to investigate the white room student identity because he didn’t consider them a threat no matter what, and yagami is clearly above the other class leaders.

Well consider these facts - Ayanokoji's dad is not desperate, if he was thukishiro would have expelled him long ago. He was pulling the strings for future plans which would have already done. I guess we have a better candidate than Shiro that is Ishigami he can bring his entire year and pull the strings in ayanokoji's Ruyen would want him expelled and even ichinose would want class A.
