I'm finally coming to a realization that, rather than reacting and looking through my old set binders to see if I have any if these old cards that spike here and there, that I should just go ahead and get 1-3 more of them all to finish off playsets while they are ignored and fairly cheap. Then when some do spike I'm a) not so nostalgic to want to hold onto the old cards I pulled 20-30 years ago, and b) selling off one or two during the spike will quickly coverthe cost to get those extra cards. They can then eventually be replaced when prices drop again. I'm patient.

This is good advice. I skipped on all of the hype on these cards. Thank you for the video Mox Man. The Ramble Jamble of Oz. Yes, be smart. RAMBLE JAMBLE!
BOOMSTICK!!!! thanks Beck
Yep you called it again Mox Man, your awesome I hope you get that 50k your insight is sick
BOOMSTICK thanks
People remember things like Shuko but easily forget that it had such raise *because* of Nadu initially being legal in Modern.
Some mostly commander cards could command (pun intended) such price increases too, but I think it would have to be a way more established and powerful meta: If a new card design makes an older car useful in say, some of the top CEDH decks like Rog/Si and Blue Farm, then I could see the price being sustained a lot more because of just how much more narrow cedh meta is but on casual commander? The only common denominators are Sol Ring, tribal pay offs and board wipes.
Great comments Dimitri
This is first video I've watched from you and i instantly subscribed and liked, i really liked how you presented this and it's information that every player should know
@@davidcapano9996 thanks David! So glad you enjoyed Booomstick
Oh you are warping the RL prices lol. I appreciate you teaching me about hanging tight on spiked and excessive prices. Folks should be instead looking at the all time lows to see what they can play with for best-bang for their buck.
BOOMSTICK!-we tested and we know what to look for
Great video, I buy low when ever possible, but it (fomo) can hit anyone
WOOT
way to go, Soldevi to $100! But wait, that means other cards would also need to go up by 4x or so... mhm perhaps not then.
I would buy some of these if I needed them I admit it, but I'm lucky I have them.
Awe I thought i was getting a call to action to sell some fallout card jumping lol.
Not yet, but there is some movement
Crawl out through the fallout ☢️
Love the spikes in cards keeps values moving and exciting,...but someone gets burned everytime

its because of Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

its time to ramble on...
Ramble jamble aside, I hope emerakul stays high so my version (double masters borderless) goes up and I can sell it
WOOT!! cash in
I’m about to trade some Arid Mesa this week!
Great Video Mox!

330%? That's a lot.
Caught this on stocks and talks about an hour ago. This has been on the bottom 10. Sorry Mox, got there !😅
LOL

concerning forsaken wastes, ive heard the Valvagoth deck is out selling the other 3 new decks combined but even then your prolly right, just one deck type is a hard sell for the price to stay high forever, guessing it will go down a few weeks after release of the deck once every one who wanted one got it.
Any idea what it will fall back too?
The precondition will be restocked, just keep an eye out.
@@Carriantor thanks for the tip :)
I've been sitting a lot out recently. Fighting FOMO all the time. but I know there'll be a better time, and I'll have money, and product that I want now will be affordable then.... and if not? well, we cannot have it all forever can we?
emrakul spiked I saw. why? the OG emrakul
Modern deck using it with breach
Interesting to see Emrakul go up. It's also banned in commander but I didn't think it was on the list of possible unbanning cards. Also interesting to see only the 1 print of it jump up that much.
I don't understand. I'm looking at 4 NM copies of Emrakul from RoTE for around 50 bucks. Where is the spike? It market price has gone up from 21.25 on June 10 to 27.96 Sep 8, but I don't see anything that looks like the graph you have. Strange. That said, it does look like most versions have gone up by like 20% over the last month. Could that could be because of the rise in popularity/viability of Eldrazi decks in Modern, especially with the banning of Nadu/anticipation of banning?
I’m finding that when a product sells out outside the US all the pricing and graphs become broken. The international market starts buying at a premium or not being able to get anything while the US market just sees slow price increases. It could be something like that. I think that’s the case with the shire and some of the foil poster cards and some of the weird price point purchases using things like TCG direct.
Boomstick, could be a number of things meeting in a perfect storm, but the amount out there tells us to watch it, because that price will not hold
@@ZeroIsEven Ah interesting, hadn't thought about international prices. Well in any case, looking into this made me realize how far the Textured Foil Emrakul fell in price, so I picked one up for 45 bucks haha.
@@ullrich I think that’s the way to do it. I live in a place we call the shire, so I wanted to get each of the art treatments for the card a few weeks ago … but when I went looking the price for the basic non-foil version had escalated past every premium option to almost $5 now. So I bought the various foil and surge foil and silver foil and borderless versions all for 2-3 bucks a piece and still don’t have a basic non-foil one because I refused to pay more for the basic version than the holiday edition or surge foil. Now, a few weeks later, all the fancy versions are almost sold out internationally … so the price is still low because nobody can buy them, but in the US they’re slowly rising in price and when the fancy ones are sold over things like TCG direct some versions start to re-price. The other element I think that is a part of this that is hard it is to account for is: people buying for commander decks using automated services or simple upload-able lists that grab versions of cards different than how a thoughtful human might select.
@@ZeroIsEven Oh yea the automated deck building tool is a good point. I can imagine that those can cause formerly inexpensive versions to creep up as they are often a preferred variant for that sort of thing.
Are you in the US? Just wondering if there is a place called The Shire in the US haha. That's a cool though idea, collecting each variant of the Shire. Are you also getting the Shire Terrace? I think they only have regular, scroll, and a secret lair version. With foil variants of course.
I have an ongoing project with the LotR set as well. I'm trying to collect most of the whole set - any card that has a unique story piece, or could be reasonably associated with a part of the story. Then I want to put them in order based on their appearance in the book. That has proven to be pretty challenging - having to comb through PDFs of the books for the specific passage takes a lot of time. But I think I have all the cards I need - maybe missing a few commander reprints with LotR art. But I didn't opt for any of the scroll cards from the Special Edition - I prefer the regular versions and the art is the same. I did get the Brothers Hildebrandt cards though, but not the realms and relics in surge foil. I bought the foil versions of the realms and relics when the surge foil variants were like $300. But then the SE came out and the surge foil variants were more common than the foil versions had been in the previous set. So I probably should have waited on that lol.
In any case, timing prices can be frustrating. Generally, waiting like 6 months after a set comes out is the best way to get the lowest price, but they can start climbing pretty steadily after that again. Or, as is the case with the Shire, they can climb relatively quickly and seemingly out of nowhere.
Boomstick 😀
Fastbond will never be unbanned 😅 the whole cEDH ban list discussion has been a scam by the people who run topdeck it looks like. They pumped and dumped everyone.
Of course buying fastbond was silly anyway.
Is that why Emrakul spiked? I heard about that with Leovold as well.
Bah! Dominic Have some faith hehe
