    We just bought a 1.2 tekna +. Only had it a few days & done 300 miles over a veriaty of roads. The engine is fabulous. Very refined & quiet. At 70mph the engine is only doing 2400rpm in 6th gear. The only noticeable noise is from the wind rushing past the enormous wing mirrors. If u do less than 10000 miles a year then I highly recommend this engine over the 1.5 diesel. It's cheaper by nearly £1300 & petrol costs less too. My father in law has just got the 1.5 as he often drives to Spain in his car but the refinement is simply not in the same league as the petrol at any speed or revs.

      jason tree agreed. Had mine since September 16. Absolutely fantastic. Shocked at the low revs high speed ratio. No strain accelerating uphill either and once cruising around 70 very little engine noise. Just air. A minor issue that though

    Hi all , I just bought 1.2 qq restyle. I must say that for the roads in Serbia, this car is great. Good power, handling, very comfortable, seats are great, also all the kit that comes with it is great. Drawbacks: If you trash it (engine) it will consume a lot of fuel. If you want low consumption, you have to be very gentle with throttle. My previous car was honda civic 1.8, and i use to rev it until 6000 rpm with 8l per 100 km consumption. In this car, if you drive till 4000 rpm, consumption will go till 10l and even more per 100 km. Motorway speeds so and so. 130-140 km/h 7.1 which is ok. You dont have to shout in order for people to hear you, but there is a lot of sound on motorway. Also, if you drive big people(a lot of big people in Serbia :D ), there is not a lot of space in the car. So for persons under 185 its adequate. Above that, so and so. Right knee can hit console. For persons above 200 cm, dont buy this car.
    All in all , only drawback is consumption. Motor is very strong. Dont be afraid about that.

  • @uamade
    @uamade 8 років тому +1

    Nice review, however one subject is missed: Nissan safety shield and all those security features like: lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, emergency breaking system.
    These things in fact are making a difference because most of the competitor manufacturers priced their cars at the same level but they did not include those systems or they charge for those more money.
    I personally wish you would pay more attention to this in your reviews and make an emphasis on security features because even Euro NCAP does not give a car 5 star rating unless it has those systems.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 років тому +1

      It's relative. 2-3 years ago, when this car was launched, it was indeed a novelty. Today more manufacturers offer more safety systems as standard, because as you pointed out, Euro NCAP requires those. In many cases it's a simple calculation: is 4 start rating instead of 5 going to cost us more in sales, than lower price?
      A couple of years ago, before ESP was mandatory, Citroen chose to offer C3 without ESP as standard. It cost Citroen one star in Euro NCAP tests, but as supermini segment is very price sensitive, in advertisements C3 looked better with starting price X999 (which was about a thousand euro less, because no ESP was offered in the base model). In the end nobody bought the base mode, so majority had ESP anyway, but low price attracted more customers, than 5 start safety rating.

    • @uamade
      @uamade 8 років тому +1

      Thanks for the reply. I agree that the point regarding price is important, however I think that this is essential mostly for young buyers (18-25 years old) which would like to spend as less as possible. As for the rest of the people safety is *probably* more important and I would love if you also spend some time on reviewing those features as well in your videos.
      Essentially, there are only two main trends in vehicles manufacturing in the last 15 to 10 years: autonomous driving and active safety features. At least for me this will be the decisive part when I will be buying my next car.

    Great review mate! This or the Mazda CX-5? I don't think the Mazda stole Qashqai's sales away from it. It's still going strong, atleast in the UK.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 11 років тому +1

      CX-5 is bigger, up there with the RAV4 and CR-V. Qashqai competes against the new SX4 S-Cross (a review coming up soon). AFAIK Qashqai is also quite expensive in the UK, with the base model starting around 1k euro higher, than in Germany or Poland.

      Eagerly awaiting your Suzuki SX4 S Cross review! Are you testing the petrol engine by any chance? Real mpg, radio reception and reported demisting issues are of particular interest to me.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 11 років тому

      danube41 S-Cross is coming up this Friday afternoon. What sort of radio reception problems are you taking about? DAB or analogue?

    • @danube41
      @danube41 11 років тому

      Marek Drives
      Analogue. This was mentioned by a couple of S-Cross owners on a French forum, but I've checked again and others have replied that it's not a problem. I'd also like your opinion on steering wheel feel -- I've test driven two different S Cross specimens, and in one of them I constantly had to make small adjustments to keep the car on a straight line when driving at motoway speeds (60-70mph), which I found tiring. However, the other car I test drove did not present this issue. Any thoughts on this please?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 11 років тому

      danube41 I do have some thoughts on different steering feel depending on the engine version. Watch my review tomorrow.
      As far as defogger is concerned, it's raining cats and dogs in Warsaw today. I just got back from a drive in traffic through the city, and there was no problem. Climate control was in auto mode set to about 19 degrees. However earlier today during filming I had temperature set to a lower value so that the microphone would not pick up the fan noise, and the windscreen did become a bit misty. But it could have something to do with the fact that I was going in and out of the car all the time, while it was raining.

      I haven't driven KIA 1.0 long enough, but it seemed promising.
      I guess it depends on what you want to achieve. If you're after fuel economy in the city, go for the smallest displacement and least horsepower. If you want any performance, especially when carrying 2-3 passengers, you want the biggest displacement possible, but it's going to use a lot of fuel.
      My favourite so far is BMW's 1.5 inline 3.

      Marek Drives Nice review... Exactly same situation here (about distance covered)... so I’m also thinking to buy 1.5 Diesel (because of Fuel consumption-74mpg) but you have advised 1.2 Petrol, please can you explain that why not 1.5 Diesel...

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 11 років тому +4

      Ibrahimovic The difference between 1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel is about 2,000 euro in Germany or about 1,500 pounds in the UK. In the long run the diesel will be more expensive to service, so if you do not drive enough kilometers to take advantage of lower fuel consumption in the diesel, than you might just as well go for the petrol engine. How far can you drive for 2,000 euros? Do the math based on your local petrol/diesel prices. And bear in mind during cold weather it takes ages for the diesel to warm up (and it's not very fuel efficient, until it warms up), and for the heating to start working.

    • @MarekDrives

      Slipped my mind, when I was recording. The Safety Shield is a set of safety systems, which include intelligent parking assistant, blind spot monitor, a warning about moving, when you are reversing, and a system, which suggests you stop, when it senses you are tired. I think there is also a lane assist system.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 10 років тому

      The noise was noticeable. I should start measuring it, to give you a reference number so that viewers can decide for themselves. Sometimes it is a matter of cabin acoustics, tires, wind outside, road surface. Take it for a test drive.

    Driving Nissan Gashgai in the the highway at only 60 ml (90 Km), I can not hear the person next to me in the front passenger seat. engine, road, wind and tire noise was so loud at vi could not finish our test trip as planned, that we also test at 70 ml (110 Km) It was just so awful, So we strongly believe, that Nissan for to achieve the minimum fuel consumption, sacrificed car's impotant features '' Comfort '' We were sure at the end of our test drive, that Nissan has certainly not used any or much much less that needed insulation in the 2014 Nissan Gashgai.
