I'm really happy that Tarantino gave the world a chance to meet wonderful actors such as Daniel Brühl, Christoph Waltz, August Diehl etc. They are some of Europe's finest actors and they deserve more recognition internationally. I was truly gutted when Brühl was not nominated for an Oscar for his performance as Niki Lauda. He had been nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA and he deserved that Oscar nomination.
@ International recognition doesn't have to mean the US necessarily. My opinion is, if you want to watch a good film, look up the list of contenders for Palm d'Or in Cannes, not for Best Picture Oscar. Still most people has never heard of many of those films, haven't watched any and never will and because Hollywood is so dominant all around the world. Therefore they won't know who those actors and filmmakers are. For instance, I'm not American, I'm European and I live in Europe and I don't know if any of my friends would know who August Diehl is. Yet they do know tons of American actors, many of whom don't have an ounce of Diehl's talent - but they are popular. I'm sorry for such a long comment. I hope I explained well what I wanted to say. 🙂

That is also, in part, because of how we learn English in Germany. In many parts of Germany, we are taught Oxford English in schools, and a lot of teachers put a lot of emphasis on how you pronounce stuff. Germans who intend to use their English a lot will likely focus on keeping the way we speak "clean" and not take up an accent (especially not a German one). But yes, since he is fluent in four languages, his abilities in that departement are high-level. However, languages are not genetic. You cannot have a language in your DNA. You don't have abilities in your DNA, or skills. That is all due to learning, to studying. You cannot just genetically inherit a skill.
@Medea Worbs as a native English speaker who used to teach ESL (including in Germany), and currently lives in Germany, I can say that most Germans absolutely don’t speak English “perfekt” in any fashion the way op describes. It’s a rare German I’ve met who speaks English well like Brühl does, even among well educated Germans. In contrast with many Scandinavians, whose English tends to come closer to native speaking English level.

As a fellow German, I am profoundly surprised by his wit, intelligence and especially humour. Germans are often 'scolded' for their lack of humour (rightfully so) and I think he gave a glimpse past our, at times, cold façade. Happy to see him represent Germany so positively. Of course, the average German fits more closely with the stereotype than a charismatic actor, but don't let that stop you from visiting us :)
That's because his mother is from Spain, he was born in Barcelona and I think he actually lived there for some time before moving to Germany, and even after that he spent every summer in Spain, that's why maybe he has that open attitude typical from spanish people

@@medeaworbs6970 ich komme selber aus Deutschland haha. Das mit der DNA ist mir natürlich bewusst, wird hier aber eher als Metapher verwendet.
@@indrinita as a native German who has lived in England I very much agree
@@indrinita while his level of proficiency seems fine, he still has a German accent. Which is fine, of course, but I don't understand why people on here seem to insinuate that he doesn't.
That's because his mother is from Spain, he was born in Barcelona and I think he actually lived there for some time before moving to Germany, and even after that he spent every summer in Spain, that's why maybe he has that open attitude typical from spanish people
All the germans I have met were hilarious. Of course, we were all in our 20's, and they might have been outliers because they came to Canada to work for a year.

For me,Daniel Brühl is one of the best and talented actors. He refered Louis Hoffman as a talented young deutsch actor. and he's so right! Everyone should see "Dark" which is a german series on netflix.

I loved this. But the Students asked a Lot of similar questions and it seemed like the weren't listening to each other. Disapointing from "the" Oxford students. Props to him for making the same answer interesting 3 times.
I'm pretty sure he's used to answering the same questions over and over again, considering how many interviews he's had. But it's true that this case was different.
Goodbyeeee Lenin. He’s such a great actor.
Excellent talk and q&a. Very impressive and thoughtful guy. Well done Daniel, keep it up.

I'm also obssessed
No sos la única, yo también 😂
Noooo welcome to the club
10:53 love how he laughs in austrian accent
9:03, whoa, I felt pain emanating from him as he spoke.
lol that is one tough crowd! he keeps making jokes but no one is laughing haha
The best German actor ever.
Damn Oxford union. He seems like a very intelligent individual.
okay but if he enjoys picking characters based on his attraction to the script... his role in the MCU is even cooler
bc homeboy may not have even been made fully aware of what was going on and what the future playing of the character would entail 🥺 that’s acting, bubba

when i watched Rush(2013) i thought he would spoke that accent in real life, but i was wrong
"You know?" OK thanks for the interview
really like this guy
He is such a talented and thoughtful actor and he looks a lot younger than 43.
48:19 Chris Hemsworth impression was worryingly perfect
He was so good in goodbye Lennon, it actually got me into foreign films.
Schnubbi, Mensch, da biste ja!
We know, daniel😍😍😍
Intelligent and well-spoken, just like Zemo
Who came here after #ReleaseTheZemoCut ?

Daniel is so good.
I love him. Hes an amzing actor
Ok but greeting someone you don’t know with “hallo lieber Genosse” is disrespectful af I’m surprised he didn’t get mad
What's the meaning?
@@jessidevarela Something like "Hello, dear comrade" like he knows him or something.
Why didn't anyone ask him about mission report december 16 1911
NIKI LAUDA 2.0
What is the movie he was taking about where he played a schizophrenic man that they still play for psychology students? It sounds super interesting

Einer meiner Deutchen Lieblingsschauspieler
His smile!!!!!
What a nice guy. Great actor. Lila Lila is fantastic, so is Burnt.
Nice interview! I haven't seen him in anything yet; which is the best movie to start with??
definetly "Rush" the one he played Nicki Lauda in. Great performance but the movie itself is a blast too.
Captain America: Civil War is a great one!!!
Colognia Dignidad is great!
He articulates like Jürgen Klopp with all the breaks and sighs
I realized that too
isnt it the guy who played nemo in avengers?
baron zemo
...you know, you know--------you knoooooooooooow,
Well the moment you speak 4 languages at the level he does, you can make coments like that
I found Köln beautiful! : )
Michael Schumacher had some great rivalries too, with Hakkinen or with Hill, even Senna...
