its because whenever simon removes a singular notation, he would usually press a lot of different keys before actually removing the intended number which usually takes one button only to remove it. It is something regular fans notice but its not really something worth pointing out because it is just a habit of his therefore making it niche since an average person wouldn’t dare meme about this but this man did it.
@@hbk6917 It does not just take 1 button press - Simon is switching input tools when he does this. It would be niche if only a small amount of people would get it - but since many do, it's not very niche. Also: "this man" called holly? I think they are a trans woman, looking at their profile pic.
You have to add Simon saying well that's a 4 and that's a 5 that's a 3 and therefore that's a 4 and ah good gracious me look at this cell aww this is beautiful this cell can only be a 1 due to this thermo and this 1 in box 3

Well, to be fair...... It is outrageous to make Simon do Sudoku in a Sudoku puzzle. But yes, I do find myself shouting "Scanning, Simon! *_SCANNING!_* " at the screen.
Haha :-) The real answer is that the custom software they had made has 4 modes of input: solution digit, corner marks, centre marks and colour. You can enter corner marks directly with Shift+digit and centre marks directly with Ctrl+digit, but you can also switch modes so that you don't need Shift or Ctrl by pressing the spacebar. Simon hasn't picked up the Shift and Ctrl shortcuts, so he cycles through the modes by pressing space repeatedly for every new kind of input. Result: spacebar sound KACHUNK-KACHUNK-KACHUNK. And if he overshoots by mistake, then he has to press space another 3 times to cycle around. :-P
Using the Shift shortcut and Numpad to enter digits doesn't actually work, because Shift+NumPad is the same as turning NumLock off. As a result, if you use the NumPad numbers, you are forced to use Space to cycle modes instead of just using the shortcut for Corner digits.
Wild guess - you can change modes with Tab and shift and I think he might be pressing tab over and over to get to the right mode but he’s going so fast he sometimes presses it too many times?
@@SjorsHoukes The funny part is that if he leaves the controls on the full sized number and just uses the control and command keys he can achieve the same thing without all the tabbing. Then again, it wouldn't be Simon-like to do things the easy way!
I loved this. At the start is seemed like a parody showing how insanely good Simon is that he can solve sudokus super fast, the you see the second keyboard giving the impression that he is solving two at the same time, then you get the punch. Well played.
There's one that he "solves" in about 9 seconds. Actually, it is making every cell a color, and not getting the digits until the last moment, then you can fill in all the digits in a few seconds.
At least in his videos, I feel like he's slow but consistent. I often solve puzzles faster than him because he tries to be extra careful and rigorous. But then I get stuck for 2 hours while he keeps finding new logic every few minutes...
I only ever use their site on mobile, but I have a very good idea of how the keyboard shortcuts work from trying to make sense of every click from Simon's keyboard.
This video just popped up as a recommendation. I watched it and laughed. I went to like it but it was already liked. I’d seen it last year. LOL. Even funnier.

Put on and it's lots of fun. It is niche because you have to watch cracking the cryptic. Now it may be the most popular Sudoku channel in the world, but that doesn't mean everybody watches it and most certainly people don't spend hours of their day every day solving sudokos. But what I really want to know What I really want to know is, what's the second keyboard, the one on the right?

It's amazing how consistently Simon will type the wrong number and then retype the correct number.
It's always the number 1 below as well!
