While there is no doubt that Russia invaded Ukraine, the ultimate cause of the war was the decision of the West - and here we are talking mainly about the United States - to turn Ukraine into a western stronghold on the border with Russia. A key element of this strategy was Ukraine's entry into NATO, a move that not only Putin, but the entire Russian foreign policy establishment saw as an existential threat that needed to be addressed.
It is often forgotten that many American and European politicians and strategists opposed NATO expansion from the very beginning because they understood that the Russians would perceive it as a threat and that such a policy would eventually lead to disaster. The list of adversaries includes George Kennan, Clinton's Secretary of Defense William Perry and his Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Shalikashvili, Paul Nitze, Robert Gates, Robert McNamara, Richard Pipes and Jack Matlock, to name a few. At the NATO summit in Bucharest in April 2008, both French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke out against President George W. Bush's plan for Ukraine's entry into the North Atlantic Alliance. Merkel later said her opposition was based on her belief that Putin would interpret this as a "declaration of war."
Of course, the opponents of NATO expansion were right, but they lost the battle and NATO moved east, which eventually provoked the Russians to start a preventive war. If the United States and its allies had not taken steps to bring Ukraine into NATO in April 2008, or if they had been prepared to accommodate Moscow's security interests after the Ukraine crisis erupted in February 2014, Ukraine probably would not be there would be war, and her borders would look like they did when she gained her independence in 1991. The West has made a colossal mistake, for which it and many others have not yet finished paying.

      @chaosXP3RT Рік тому +11

@@shadowrealm6013 I agree. I see a lot of conservative/neo-conservative people complaining about US aid to Ukraine and it doesn't make sense to me.
I can understand not wanting to get involved in more foreign conflicts after Iraq and Afghanistan, however, the Ukrainians actually want our help and support to defend their own fledgling democracy, unlike the Afghans and Iraqis. In addition, US soldiers aren't even on the ground in Ukraine (other than to keep track of delivered aid).
These same complaining voices say they're worried about corruption. But for 20 years they had no issue sinking billions upon billions of dollars into 2 of the most corrupt governments in the world: Iraq and Afghanistan.
They say "Well, we should focus on our problems at home". Without getting into the detailed domestic policies (or lack thereof), of certain political parties and politicians, I have no idea how an old M113 APC or M2 Bradley or thousands of rounds of ammo are going to provide more funding for schools, for example. A lot of this equipment is old. Or the ammo is old and if not used by a certain date, will expire. It all sits in warehouses, costing money to maintain. Sending it to the Ukrainians, who have proven and shown many times that they can and will use it for the intended purpose, is far more cost effective for American taxpayers. (In contrast, the Afghans just handed American aid to the Taliban).
They say, "Well, we need to make more jobs and build American industries." Yeah, donating ammo and equipment and aid to Ukraine will leave vacancies that the US military will want filled. And they already have started buying more from US defense companies, and building more factories. This helps the US economy.
And finally they say, "Why should we care about Ukraine?" Why shouldn't the USA, who never lets the world forget how much they love freedom, and democracy, support a fledging democracy like Ukraine while it fights for it's freedom from Russian dominance??? For me, this is no different than the US liberating Europe from N*zi occupation and the Pacific from Imperial Japan! I think it's more patriotic and more American to support Ukraine than not too!
The only conclusion I can reach is that people who are against supporting Ukraine either, are doing it out of political loyalty or because they've swallowed Russian and Authoritarian propaganda hook, line and sinker! sinker.

The bit that amazes me is that they just had two of their brothers seriously wounded and had to send them back to get medical care and right after that, they're back in the thick of it again like nothing happened. Not enough time to process what's going on, you don't get to say goodbyes or grieve. You lose a brother and a brother replaces him and these guys don't have a word to say about it.
I noticed they were talking a lot about nothing. Making jokes that weren't funny and laughing at everything. It was almost as if they thought that being quiet would be the end of them. Mocking the enemy, glorifying their demise despite giving them a chance to surrender and you could hear the sincere hope that they do surrender in his voice. Everything they do seems to be a coping mechanism to get through this conflict as sane as they can.
This video was cool. We got to see a lot of kit and a lot of fighting. It was very entertaining. But also extremely educational. It's a shame people have to suffer like this for us to learn. Even more of a shame that many people don't learn.

The term КМБ, or 'Young Fighter's Course' in English, is a term from Ukrainian military jargon. This is similar to what you might know as 'Basic Training' or 'Boot Camp' in the U.S. military. It's a foundational course that every recruit must go through, teaching the basics of military life, physical fitness, combat skills, and discipline. It's essentially the first step in transforming a civilian into a soldier.

KHARKOV is a Russian city! It was founded in the 1630s. Little Russians who fled from the Poles from the right bank of the Dnieper settled there. Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich built a fortress there and founded the Kharkov Voivodeship in 1656.
SUMY - founded by Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich no later than 1655. The tsar allowed the Little Russian refugees, who were killed by the Poles, to settle there.
POLTAVA - was in the XVII century the center of pro-Russian-minded Little Russia. For this, the traitor hetman Vyhovsky (something like the current Klichkov and Yatsenyukov) attacked the city and sold its inhabitants into slavery to the Crimean Tatars.
DNEPROPETROVSK - founded by Empress Catherine II in 1776 and was called Yekaterinoslav.
LUGANSK - founded in 1795, when Empress Catherine II founded an iron foundry on the Lugan River. To work on it, immigrants from the central and northwestern provinces of Russia came to live in Lugansk.
KHERSON - founded by Empress Catherine II in 1778 for the construction of the Russian fleet. The construction was carried out by Potemkin.
DONETSK - founded by Emperor Alexander II in 1869 during the construction of a metallurgical plant in Yuzovka.
NIKOLAEV - founded by Empress Catherine II in 1789. At this time, Potemkin was building the ship "Saint Nicholas" there.
ODESSA - founded by Empress Catherine II in 1794 on the site of a fortress built a little earlier by Suvorov.
CHERNIGOV is one of the oldest Russian cities, it existed at the beginning of the 10th century. In 1503 he became part of Russia. In 1611, the Poles destroyed it and took this territory from the Russians. But in 1654 Chernigov returned to Russia and since then has always been its integral part.
SIMFEROPOL - founded by Catherine II in 1784. It was built by Potemkin on the site of Suvorov's military camp and next to the Tatar settlement.
SEVASTOPOL - founded by Catherine II in 1783 on the site of a fortress built earlier by Suvorov. Built the city of Potemkin.
MARIUPOL - founded in 1778 by Catherine II. She settled Greeks there - immigrants from the Crimea.
KRYVOY RIG - founded by Catherine II in 1775. And it received its industrial development, as the base of metallurgy, in Soviet times.
ZAPORIZHIA - founded by Catherine II in 1770 and was called Aleksandrovsk.
KIROVOGRAD - was founded in 1754 by the Russian Empress Elizaveta Petrovna as a fortress to protect the southern borders of the Russian Empire from the Tatars. It was called Elisavetgrad. what does Ukraine have to do with it?

Considering a lot of these guys probably aren't professional soldiers you have to acknowledge that something is working in the training - like the injury at the end there, balancing the need to defend in the moment with the guy's injury and prioritising: and getting it right too, and also the quality of the first aid for mid-firefight is pretty well as close as you're going to get to top-notch. KMB - young fighter course. It is the period when it is decided who will join the brigade and initial knowledge is also given. The selection is carried out based on the physical data of the recruit and also taking into account how he learns tactical techniques.
