  • ▶ ORDER HERE: biblereviewers.com/get/njv/ - In this Bible review, we'll take an in-depth look at the New Jerusalem Version (NJV) Personal Size Bible from Hineni Publishers in brown Italian calf-split leather. This is a beautiful little edition that was printed and bound by Royal Jongbloed in the Netherlands, and it does much to restore the Hebrew context of God's Word, tastefully incorporating important Hebrew words and names throughout.
    I personally feel that this Bible is currently the best option available for those who identify with Messianic Judaism or the Hebrew Roots movement. While other similar works take a heavy-handed approach to the addition of Hebrew names and words in the English text, Hineni Publishers has opted for a gentler path, only substituting key names and words with the Hebrew equivalent. The result is a Bible that is approachable by anyone, and it's particularly good for newcomers to the world of Hebrew.

    The base translations used for this project are the widely respected 1901 American Standard Version (ASV), World English Bible (WEB), and Jewish Publication Society (JPS) 1917 Tanakh. A literal, word-for-word translation that also restores the Tetragrammaton to the pages of Scripture, the New Jerusalem Version is accurate, easy to read, and does much to highlight the proper Hebrew context of God's Word.
    This edition features a Smyth-sewn binding for outstanding longevity and lay-flat performance. The gold gilding on my copy was absolutely flawless, and the Bible comes with two honey/gold-colored 1/4" edge-cut ribbon markers.
    This Bible includes a total of 1,381 pages and the dimensions are 8.5" x 5.875" x 1.1275". It's a perfectly sized Bible for travel or everyday carry (EDC), and the reading experience is fantastic. The 32 GSM PrimaBible paper features a soft, creamy color that is easy on the eyes and the 9-point font is very legible, making this a great option for daily reading as well.
    The double-column, paragraph-style layout is very nice in this edition, and I love the fact that the publisher has left plenty of room in the gutters.
    On the inside, you'll find a synthetic, paste-down liner, and there's a tooled perimeter line around the edges of the cover.

    I ordered this Bible in the black leather, and I’ve got to say that I am completely impressed with it. I knew the quality would be good, coming from Royal Jongbloed. What I didn’t expect was how much I would enjoy the layout of the text. The font is super clean. It has become my favorite Bible to use as a simple “reader” edition, since there are no title headings and the verse numbers seem to just disappear as you read. The translation reads extremely smooth. I love everything about it. And the leather smells fantastic! Many wonderful hours will be spent reading and praying through this copy. Thanks for your review!

    Thank you for this review. I was thinking about purchasing this Bible. Do you know if it’s more of a “word for word” (formal equivalence) translation or a “thought for thought”
    (dynamic equivalence) translation? I didn’t see that information on their website. How’s the readability?Thanks.

      Hi there, thanks for the nice comment. This is a word-for-word, literal translation that's based on the 1901 ASV, JPS 1917 Tanakh, and WEB. In terms of readability, it's easy to read.
      Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, just holler. I'll do my best to help out.

    How is the paper for writing notes and highlighting?

    • @BibleReviewers
      @BibleReviewers  3 місяці тому

      I don't write or highlight in my Bibles, so I'm afraid that I can't be of much help in answering your question. Perhaps someone else who owns the Bible can chime in with their experience...

    29:06 "He will return as a Jew."
    Yes, He came as a Jew to his own people. How about the Lord returning as King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

    • @BibleReviewers
      @BibleReviewers  3 місяці тому

      He didn't come as a Jew only "to His own people", He came as a Jew. Period.
      When He returns, He will still be a Jew (something that many don't consider and even struggle with, which is why I made mention of it). Of course, Yeshua is also many other things, including the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It's not a case of "this or that", it's all of the above.
      Thank you for the comment...

      @@BibleReviewers "He didn't come as a Jew only "to His own people", He came as a Jew. Period." Yes, that is true.
      Now regarding "He will return as a Jew." (29:06) Where do we find that in Scripture?
