What are your thoughts on the final KISS concert? Let me know down below! RANT : Why AVATAR KISS Is A TERRIBLE IDEA: ua-cam.com/video/hOo77TYFaXM/v-deo.html
I do think the last few shows of the tour was fully live for Paul’s voice. I saw them in 2019 and 2020 right before lockdown and they were mostly backing tracks. I think even bringing Bruce back for the songs he played on would’ve been cool, Paul and Gene totally missed their opportunity. Avatar Kiss is Just completely ridiculous.
YOU WERE THERE? Lucky sod you!!! My thoughts? The last EVER KISS show was my first. And unless they reunite with Ace and Peter, it will remain that way. So, I only have shows I've seen on UA-cam or live performances in audio as a reference for comparison. It's clear, in say 1996, they were WAY more improvised and took the show in exciting directions. And maybe that IS the main thing missing? And not simply due to Ace's amazing guitar work which can't be beaten. The modern out going KISS was a case of business as usual - set to a programmed and planned routine. But, one with BIG BALLS. And an amazing show YES. But, one which feels restricted? As for the big difference between Paul and Gene? Their songs and personalities. Paul is a 'believe in yourself' type of guy shown in songs like "I" and "God gave rock and roll to you". While, Gene is a defiant force of nature, shown in "God of Thunder" which IS his rallying cry. But, his softer and more thoughtful side is shown in the beautiful "A world without heroes" (and yes I do love "The Elder". A flawed classic). It was a big shame that NO ONE who was an ex KSS member appeared. In the case of Peter, Ace and Vinnie you can understand WHY. But, others? I think Paul's ego couldn't cope with the first 2 in particular. And Vinnie? Maybe Paul has a point. If Ace and Peter were known to be appearing? The ticket sales would literally go into outer space. But, who knows. After all, this farewell show was of the current line up. And NOT the classic one. Here's hoping. But, if not? Well, we have 50 years of music. ROCK ON! David
All the fans wanted was Ace & Peter to come out and take a bow at the end - as well as a tribute photo on the big screen of Eric Carr (and maybe a salute or something) . THIS would have taken about 5 minutes at the most. THIS is what would have meant MORE to the LIFE LONG FANS than going home with a $60.00 t-shirt. The concert was DESIGNED to appeal to the "casual Kiss fan" w/ a huge bank account. P.S. Peter and Ace live in NY Sate! You'd not even need to pay for PLANE tickets ! Just a limo ride !!
the final goodbye was super basic, if I didnt know it was the last show I'd think it just another of their normal performances, it was lacking on many levels, not only Peter and Ace
I thought the show was a lot of fun, but I was hoping they would’ve done something a little more special. Overall I was pleased with the show, but having Ace and Peter would’ve been a great thing for the fans.
Awesome you managed to see them at their last show Johnny. Good to hear your thoughts on the show overall. It's a bit sad they didn't get in Peter and Ace, just to close the show, that would have boosted their profile to no end. Not a bad setlist either, all the classics as you'd expect. Will give the other video a watch when I get a chance.
She is amazing… was hoping for a deep cut like that on the show. I wish KISS would release an Off The Soundboard from the Wicked Lester era… that would be an OTS I would be interested in.
What I would have liked to have seen from Gene and Paul is some REAL acknowledgement of all of the band's past members. Towards the end of Do You Love Me they showed about half a minute of footage from when KISS visited Cadillac, Michigan in 1975. This is indeed a very important part of KISStory. However in the context of it being the last performance of the band and a true celebration of fifty years , I thought this footage was very random and almost irrelevant, not to mention very short. I wish that for the ENTIRETY of that song, they would have shown clips of every single past band member, Peter, Ace, Eric, Vinnie, Mark St. John and Bruce rocking out on stage. Eric Carr was shown at the very end for about a fraction of a second, if you blinked you missed it. For goodness sake, they had two band members pass away. If not that, then show there names up on the screen thanking them for their contributions to the band at the very end of the show. I thought it was in very poor taste and downright disrespectful.
I agree. I was hoping we would’ve gotten a proper tribute video to every past member at least. I thought for sure they would’ve payed tribute to Eric Carr during Eric Singer’s drum solo.
Personally, I'm not a fan of The Elder outside of Dark Light and A World Without Heroes, but I agree that I would've really enjoyed some surprises in this set.
@@TheCDGuyJZ All good, bro. I'm a Kiss geek so I like everything. Well, almost, Sonic Boom and Monster are kinda spotty for me but I can still get into them. Although there are about six or seven tracks on Hot In The Shade that I absolutely despise. Read My Body is the biggest piece of shit ever.
The people paying for the show were NOT deep cut types; they were older people with $$$$. They wanted a "Greatest Hits" CD played live. Also - lotta people brought their KIDS/ teenagers - who would basically know "the Greatest hits".
Great review, agree 100 percent. Think they could of gave us a little more. That being said I'm thankful for all the years they gave us, I'm 37 and been listening since I was 3. It was sad almost got choked up but was more taken by the Disappointment. Needed a few different song choices and def a Peter and Ace appearance. Totally agree. It was a little shocking at the end of the show to actually come to the realization that Gene and Paul were really done… they’ve been such an institution for so long. I give KISS a hard time on the channel, but I’m thankful for what they gave us too.
Must have been awesome being there! I saw KISS twice, the most recent being in 2016 before the backing track mayhem (I know because the show was awesome but Paul's voice was harsh lol) Of course everybody wanted Ace and Peter and maybe even Bruce in some capacity but is anybody surprised it didn't happen? All in all as much as I love KISS, I'm kinda glad it's all over, the drama between Paul/ Gene and Ace and Peter, the backing tracks, Paul's voice, Fake Frehley and Cheater Criss etc. KISS was a great band but they spent the best part of the last 20 years doing what they said they'd never do, becoming a nostalgic act. Well always have the music but I'm glad we can lay the drama to rest lol
It was a blast for sure. Ace and Peter would’ve been the sentimental favorites, and I wish they could’ve worked something out. I agree that this had to end… it is crazy waking up the next day and realizing Gene and Paul are really retired. It’s the end of an era since they’ve been such an institution for better or worse.
I saw the original four on the farewell tour in 2000. An amazing experience. I attended two E.O.T.R. shows - New Orleans - Feb. '19 and Biloxi MS. Oct. '21. Saw no evidence of fake vocals.
Same setlist pretty much all tour. Really thought they could have changed the setlist up a bit. Very basic show and I didn't leave with my jaw dropped.
Great reviews as always. What will the price point be for any platinum Meet & Greets with the avatars? ;) Seriously, it does hold promise, if Kiss definitely are not touring, then to keep the music alive in the live arena and public consciousness. Time will tell.
I can’t imagine the avatar thing will sell out arenas. I think it’s an embarrassing idea of paper… but ABBA did the same thing and had success so I guess we’ll see.
Don't think no Ace and Peter was the big disappointment, that was no surprise. The shock was the standard setlist. Unbelievable that they did not at least play a couple of extra songs.
Agreed! The show was just a typical Kiss show. They seemed too worn out to bring anything extra to the table. The avatar thing smells like ego stroking. Whatever! As far as Ace and Peter not showing up goes, I'm in no way surprised or disappointed. In fact, I'm not surprised by anything Kiss anymore.

The money Gene and Paul made from continuing to use Ace and Peter's images 1 million a piece is more than fair and i heard from someone else who was there that Paul sounded horrible and he thinks Paul started to Lip sync 😮
I was there live… not much (if anything) sounded fake. Paul has been busted before, so I was especially looking out for backing tracks. I didn’t hear anything suspicious personally.
@@TheCDGuyJZ I totally agree. If the fans mattered to those two as much as they may want us to think it wouldve had very little to do with $$ and more to do with 'KISS Army' alltho I think Ace was pretty transparent bout it all.
The last show should’ve been about what the fans wanted. I’m not saying Ace and Peter have to do the whole show, but one song together in the encore to end it would’ve been the perfect way to finish KISS’ career.
Underwhelming at best Mid The Set List was basic No mention of Ace or Peter Paul’s voice sounded horrible And the most egregious was that cringe Hologram encore
Seen them twice on this tour same concert both times , knew all the cues !! Same boring set list only swapped out tears are falling for making love. Thats it !! Very basic concert . For your last show deep cuts would have been nice .. have no backup band and play for 3 hours . When you can sit there and know exactly what was going to happen next sucked !!! No acknowledging the former members !! All of them !! Peter Criss could have sung Beth !! Very disappointed you hyped the show up , inflation of ticket prices and it’s the same old Kiss show !! I’m a big Kiss fan seen them 22 times and have spent my share of my hard earned money on them !! But average show at best !! Money 💰 grab us all it was !!! Glad I didn’t waste my time or money going to the show I would have been pissed . Gene and Paul can’t put there egos aside for one night and have Peter and Ace there is sad !! I say good riddance!!

Not the point. The fans wanted it, and the band didn’t do it. Also that comparison makes no sense.
You're not making any sense on that at all.
I gue$$ we $ee where the fan$ $tand with Ace and Peter...
It’s just a shame that the band couldn’t put money aside for a brief reunion for one song.
@@TheCDGuyJZ I totally agree. If the fans mattered to those two as much as they may want us to think it wouldve had very little to do with $$ and more to do with 'KISS Army' alltho I think Ace was pretty transparent bout it all.
@THEREALBONGMAN Ace should’ve kept his mouth shut about the money. We all know where his motivation lies anyway.
Disappointed in last concert-im glad its over - same old same old Nothing that differant than all year- Im done with KISS
Having an Ace & Peter, there would be the equivalent of sleeping with your ex-wife after the divorce who the hell wants to do that.
The last show should’ve been about what the fans wanted. I’m not saying Ace and Peter have to do the whole show, but one song together in the encore to end it would’ve been the perfect way to finish KISS’ career.
Underwhelming at best
Mid
The Set List was basic
No mention of Ace or Peter
Paul’s voice sounded horrible
And the most egregious was that cringe Hologram encore
I don’t disagree about most of this. Oddly enough, I’d rather Paul sound horrible than use backing tracks.
Really well said! Totally agree. Awesome that you’ve had the chance to see them over 20 times!
