Hi Abbie, I’m a 13 year old girl, and I live in Australia. For years, I have been an avid writer, and I am extremely passionate about my projects. I have a book, and it is nearly completed. Everyone has told me that it is incredible, and my English teacher has told me that I have a talent for creative writing, but I have so much self-doubt. I worry about people underestimating me and not buying my book because of my young age. The genres of my books are more mature for my age, and so I also fear that my family won’t like my books. This video has helped me regain my confidence. I will be publishing my book no matter what it takes. Thank you ❤
You are 13 which means that you are ahead of most people pursuing their passion. Don't worry about what other's opinions are... especially if they aren't at the top of your field. You are proving to yourself as well as other's that it's "very possible." Most people talk while we take actions. Hope that helps. ❤

I can’t thank you enough for the first point. I HATE having to think of my work as a “product” because that just sucks the life out of it. When I was studying music a few years ago, I was being told by all the “industry experts” about the marketability of my work and your USP and “finding your audience through having a product worth selling” (genuine quote from a lecturer). I’ve always been in the enthusiast mindset because it just makes so much more sense. This is more than a personal passion project, it is something I wanted to share with the world.
Very appropriate subject and so glad you addressed it in the manner you did, Abbie. At the end of the day, no one will appreciate our writing more than us, so why not start there 😉

I confess that I wasn't really into YA. When I discovered Abbie's UA-cam I saw her promo video on 100 days if sunlight and she was so hyped that I purchased the book as soon as I finished the video....and ended up loving it.
I'm so hyped about the book I'm working on (though some days I'm sick of it) that it's getting harder and harder for me to read other peoples' work. I get inspired by bits and pieces that remind me of my story that I can't focus on the book in my hand, no matter how good it is.

Thank you so much for this video Abbie! This is going to be such a great help with my books! It might even help me land a deal with the publisher I'm looking into!
Hi Abbie! I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible impact you've had on my writing journey. Your UA-cam channel has been an invaluable source of inspiration, guidance, and knowledge, and I am so grateful to have you in my life as a teacher. I wanted to know if you are planning to host another annual virtual writing retreat this year. The idea of participating in your retreat has been so exciting for me, it always motivates me to write more and I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to join again if you are planning another retreat. Thank you once again for all that you do. You have truly transformed my life as a writer, and I am so grateful for your mentorship. I hope you'll answer me.
Hey Abbie! I have a video request! Can you please do a video on how to write a choose your own adventure book? I know you and Kate always say these are super fun! I have never read one before, nor do I really have access to one, and I can’t really find much information about them online, so I would love to learn more about them and how to write them! Thanks if you read this! Love you and your writing so much!🥰

Social media has its advantages and disadvantages. It really comes down to how you use it and how does that content affect you. Anyway with all the past history of drama I would rather have someone else do it while I could focus on balancing and or thriving in other areas of my life.

Not necessary true. Publishers take care of traditional marketing, such as sending out physical ARCs, submitting your book to literature magazines and book clubs, etc. When it comes to reels/TikToks and promotional content on social media, trad published authors are pretty much on their own.
@@gigi-2204 Personally, I hate social media, and I don't use those platforms, aside from Reddit. I am looking to getting a literary agent soon enough. I said that because I am assuming Abbie is speaking from the perspective of a self-published author, rather than one who did it through traditional publishing like Brandon Sanderson, for example, who is a person I wish to emulate my own career off of.
