He's my no 1 fave gospel singer of all time I found out about him when I was only seventeen and very young in the Lord and he just blew me away I was like wow this guy is awesome I'm 48 now so 32 yrs later I'm still listening to his music because he has helped me to keep trusting God and letting him take care of stuff
Learnt piano, left home to escape his father.
Went to study piano, met his wife there an and got saved. What a testimony.
I absolutely love this song. It means a lot to me. I had left my country El Salvador and moved to Australia. I was lonely, I could not speak english, I missed my friends my culture my church. One day after work I went to browse at a Christian shop and I found the lp record for this song. I cried and cried and I still do. I believe it was God who wrote it because it feels very special. Like he is actually talking to me. Thank you for this clip.

I bought the album when it came out. It's one of my favorite and most heartfelt songs ever recorded. Even in the truck going to and from school, I would hear it on KPBC radio and tears would just flow. Now 2023, I still weep as I listen to the words.

I am not sure you will see my message...I hope you do. You frustrate me....you really frustrate me...let me explain. You have an amazing talent....you are bar none my favorite singer. why? your voice...so unique, so pleasant, so honest, so touching. As I got on youtube I listened to your song "God's Promises"...i broke down in tears and i told you, "David, you frustrate me....there is a generation that needs to hear the word of God, and there is a generation that needs to be reminded of the love of God. I am the generation that needs to be reminded, and musicians like you can easily bend my ear....especially you who i respect and love so much." I really wish you would continue your ministry and your music. Not only because you are a phenomenal singer, but you remind me of God's promises and, at my age, the more time passes the more i need to be reminded or I begin to lose hope.

I just saw him in Concert last night for the 4th time and I can never get enough.. We had another one of our Youths from Youth Group accept God into his heart last night also... i've seen david twice in the late 90s. hope he comes back around to my home of durham, nc sometime next year. i'm facinated by not just by the music but his story. one day i know i can come to a place of forgiveness for my late stepfather like david did for his father. thank you God for david meece!

Absolutely love it the song. It would be played at top volume in the car when my Brother and I were Children. It is a song that bears witness.

I wish more people were aware of David Meece's work. He's amazing... And I'm not talking about his talent.
That's a rather odd comment.
I have always been in awe of David's music and I have been changed by what the Lord has done in his music.
Beautiful and life-changing.
Artists like him in my childhood formed my unwavering desire for praising God through music and art.
I am now an artist and musician (and technical nerd) and I give all Glory to Jesus! Thankful to His people who have instilled within me a non-stop desire to seek Him.
Question:
Does anyone here mention anything about his 'stage behavior'?

He always reminds me of a country sounding singer who isn't country at all and is a somewhat Chihuahua-ish!
That didn't make sense.
I mean, he sounds like he's a country artist with his accent and intonations, yet sings nothing like it, and is also very eclectic.
Never realized David was so funny until I watched some videos tonight that shows him taliking as well as singing. :)

Hi : Thanks for this great live video of David talking about how this song came about. It's been one of my favorite for over 25+ years since I got his Vinyl Album, Song Book & saw his live concert.
Just want to correct your written comment for this video, that David said "Over 200 artists have recorded his song BESIDES himself", not "OTHER THAN" himself. (@9:08 of the vido near the end) He was the 1st to record this song on his own album !!! >8=)

So I like to look thru the comments while listening. So I'm looking thru & saw your post & thot Okkkkkkkk... & went on. All of a sudden it stops for an ad. Oh ok. & then I look up & see it's done.....& my mind clicks ohhhhh that's what he meant! & I swear my next thot was "awww man...." & saw that that's how you started yours! lucky you! i've seen david twice. he has one thing michael w smith doesn't: a story. like david i had an alcoholic father figure and abuse. and i kind of connected w/ him b/c of that. if God can heal him, then i have a shot. pm me for details.
I disagree with Jonah was prejudice. Nineveh had invaded Israel, tortured and killed people, possibly Jonah's own family members. Jonah had forgiveness God wanted him to experience grace and mercy toward those he hated and proved His Grace and Mercy thru 1 man taking the message of Repent to the King who did Johan's job and God was committed to Johan in reasoning with him that in his hurt.
I'll just say this is an odd fish, David Meece.
