Thanks for the guide. I can't believe how cheaply these are made. I bought them for my wife about a year ago and they snapped from gentle at home use. On other hand I had my bose QC35 II since 2018, they endured lots of traveling and hard slams from a skateboard and still going strong. It is an obvious design flaw and sony doesn't want to honor their warranty by calling it a cosmetic damage. I don't feel like buying anything expensive from sony ever again.
You welcome glad we could help.
I just repaired my headphones using this video as a guide
Very clear, concise and calm and made it easy. 10/10

Thank you for this tutorial. I was able to replace my hinges along side you and your detailed video. I love these headsphone over my Bose Q25's but its ridiculous that they are made this cheaply and the repair should be covered by Sony. If the Bose headphones were this comfortble and this great with features I would consider going back to Bose. I still can't believe both my hinges broke with light daily use at home and commuting to work on the rare occassions when I go in the office. Thanks again for the help. 😊

Thank you for this step by step tutorial Joe! your clear calm detailed explanation was easy to follow.
This little plastic is definetly a design flaw, possibly a delibrate ploy, to sell more (who knows). I burnt through bunch of cheaper headphone prior to deciding to spend the bucks to get the 1000XM4. I got sick of the ear pieces breaking in various places, thats why I decided to go for this expensive headphone in hope of better and higher durability and quality of design that would avoid breaking again. I was wrong, it still broke. Over all I'm happy with the headphones have had them for several years sounds great but that little plastic still breaking off should have been made of metal due to the high amount of stress being applied to it. Thank you again, and God bless you!

Yay!!😀 thanks so much for the instructions! It’s fixed now 😊🎉
Good work 👍🏻
Just got my part in the mail, followed this video, and my headphones are back in working condition! Thanks Joe's GE - from a fellow Washingtonian.
P.S. Did you guys put the "Luke 6:31" on the USPS label? God bless you guys for your work!

It’s so sad how expensive the headphones are and how easy it is to break😭 I used all my money on these headphones and took care of them but someone in my family broke it. Like the ear parts are worn out but now I can’t repair the twisting part because it costs like £200 to get that fixed and also it breaking affected the sound so that’s like another £100 fix might aswell buy a new pair atp. Sad times man. Checking UA-cam repairs and I swear this is way above my mechanical skills
Thank you very much.. You saved my XM4s

Merci beaucoup pour ta vidéo🤗 qui a sauvé mes oreilles🎧
thank you for the instructions. bcs the parts are not available here in Indonesia, I have to superglue all the broken parts together and find that metal U thing in the breaking spot, a few shavings here and there so the other parts fit because of the glue and viola, it's done. and it works
Thank you very much! Went this way completely step by step.

I was wondering, I fixed my right hinge using your video and now my headphones won’t charge any the light blinks red. I’ve hard reset them multiple time but I don’t know why they don’t work. I really don my want to have to buy some new headphones.

Did you manage to fix it?
@@JC-0108 No. I’ve already spent like $40 for the 2 hinges and then $15 for some new ear cups that are starting to peel. I paid $270 for the headphones on I don’t plan on spending more money on the battery that I now need replaced. Which by the way is like an extra $30 if I’m not mistaken. I just bought the xm5 and I don’t plan on using them until these one can’t even make sound. Plugged in they work fine but they just don’t charge. I can live with that if it mean I’ll save some money. If you plan on following this tutorial, make sure you pull things out VERY CAREFULLY! Don’t try to shimmy anything out left and right. Pull them out straight up or you might bend and break something. Don’t make the mistake I did.
@@RubixKyuubhey just so u know it was most likely the battery thermal sensor ribbon cable that was damaged. I replaced my battery and used a little too much force pushing the sensor ribbon cable into its port and it didn’t work. Got the blinking light too. I ended up having to find an eBay seller with a battery that had an oem thermal sensor pad and ribbon cable attached and after swapping it in the headphones worked again. Crazy how fragile it is.
Thanks very much sir! Your help was very much appreciated and it worked perfectly for me.

What do I do if they do not turn on and my right hearing aid beeps when I plug it in? 😭😭
Hello, thanks for commenting. Please email us at support@joesge.com with your question. We will be able to better assist you there. - JoesGE
How much do you actually charge for a broken swivel replacement? On your website it says $130 but it says it depends on what kind of physical damage
$120
$120? Might as well just get a new pair. Jesus that’s way too expensive for 10 minutes of work.
@@LivingProofFitness I mean, you can always just buy the part and do it yourself?
Cost me $32 for a replacement part and used a modified plastic bottle cap for the prying tool/ flathead screwdriver and worked just fine
@@hexxed4245 I had a broken pair of xm3 and a broken xm4 hinge. They aren't compatible but you can swap the whole damn arm piece so I just did that.
Hi, is it fine if I accidentally snapped the mini blue rubber band whilst fixing it back or is that gonna cause a bigger problem for me in the future?
You’ll need to replace that so the hinge holds on properly.
So thankful 🎉❤

Hey accidentally unplugged the orange tab that connects to the cover(9:09 for visual reference) do you have any tips on how to plug it back in? Please I really need it
Orange ribbon* sorry forgot the correct word
Just make sure that it is the right way up, and slide it into the ribbon port, Don't use too much force
I hope you also do XM5
As soon as we get some XM5's we'll get on it!
Somehow my mic has stopped working after I've disassembled the left side. 😔 But I've managed to change the swivel. 😃

I cannot get past the step you describe at 2:02. I'm using a very similar tool, but the step looks super easy on your video but for me, it is so stuck that any kind of prying motion is causing damage along the edge of the crack. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

@@Joesge yeah I meant the part that the swivel attaches to. I looked under the assortment of parts but it said out of stock. I had bought the part from this video and the link you sent but turns out it was the cylinder part with the gasket that was broken
Thanks, bro.!
