Drew is a great guy. He got us in to kayak fishing back maybe 18 years ago. Had to chance to go fishing with him and a bunch of other guys on Hooch. We camped out and fished all day over in Valley AL. Them was the good old days when I could stand to set in a Yak all day without the old back hurting.
That was certainly a Creek Fishing Adventure to remember, smallies, scenery, musky, bite offs and the raging river of death rapids...lol 😅. But y'all lived to tell the tale. I share as many of the verses you post at the end with my small group young guys. Thanks for being a positive witness brother. Blessings always John. Look out KY here we come....
Man theres some killer LMB and SMB fishing all over that area. I used to live in Loudoun county VA and fish the shennandoah and potomac rivers. They are great fishing. We used to get in the blue ridge down in Bath county VA for native trout in streams. Back in the mid 1990s. Would love to get back down there some day.
Back several years ago used to fish El dorado Lake useing a Texas rig, with bullet slip sinker tied to a True Turn hook and a 6" purple fire tail worm. Watch your line move just a little and then set the hook. Catch a 5' largemouth. Exciting
Great video and great adventure! Beautiful place. Thanks for sharing and taking us on this adventure. Keep up the great work! And as always, #CreekFishingAdventures rocks!!!
Beautiful, just plain beautiful. I lived in Lynchburg and fished the James River but never in a Kayak. Live in Illinois now and if I had my choice I'd definitely move back to Virginia. Great video and a great float through some of God's country. Thank you for sharing. I need to get out on some of the rivers here in Illinois on my kayak now.
I always enjoy your videos, and this was no exception! Having a good bit of whitewater experience, I don’t believe I would make that run on a sit-on-top. Nope, just wouldn’t. Glad you got back safe.
Grilling some burgers, thinking about 90 degree weather headed my way, and having a beverage, watching you on an adventure and talking about it being chilly. Life is good.
Looks more like a river than a creek but very beautiful there . That musky kinda scared you and would have me too. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing it with us !
Well, John, though you lost that first Muskie, you still hold the record for catching the most Muskies on just mono line with no steel leaders! Thats nearly impossible to do, and I think your other videos add up to 4 or 5 Muskies caught without steel leaders! Always awesome what you do!!
That was an adventure that I wouldn't like, that was some rough & fast moving water that's why the bite was not that great is my guess, but is was exciting to watch you & your friends do it! You be careful, John!👍🎣
I’m not going to lie, when that Muskie hit that lure I jumped about a foot 😂. We don’t have muskies here but we do have northern pike and walleye. It’s getting up into the 90’s now so it slows us down a bit but it’s more comfortable on the water. Just have to remember to put the top up on the boat and not have to rely on the shadow of the bridges.
That was exactly what I was thinking too, because I have seen that type of scenery on that river. I absolutely love a certain section of the Cowpasture River, and it is definitely one of my favorite places in the world. I’m from Fluvanna County in Va, whereabouts are you from?
@@3ryanfitz I live in the Roanoke Valley. I’ve fished the upper James all the way down to below the town of Buchanan, Catawba Creek, and Douthat State Park. I’ve only fished a small portion of the Cowpasture, but enjoyed it.
@@dougzirkle5951 Very cool, I pass through that area around Douthat on my way to WV to visit the in-laws fairly often. I haven’t gotten to the Cowpasture in several years now, but I’m gonna make time very soon.
@@dougscamo2032I don’t believe that’s the Upper James to be honest. My guess is that’s the Cowpasture or the Maury River heading down towards Goshen Pass, or maybe the Jackson River near Covington.
You need to start telling your viewers exactly where you are.. Not just “Oklahoma”, “Tennessee”, ”Virginia”.. etc. Doesn’t do no good to list all the bait and tackle you’re using, and this and that unless you tell them where to use them.. My Uncle watches your videos, but I told him, that’s why I don’t.. You could be somewhere where 2, or 3 rivers are in very close proximity to each other, but what the fish are hitting in one of those rivers may not be what they want in either of the others.. That’s common sense.. Where you are should be one of the first 3 things you tell people, if your motive is to teach people how to fish. but you have to teach them how to fish “where”.. Go watch Richard Gene the Fishing Machine, you could likely learn a few things.. His specific location, and tackle go hand in hand.. I don’t mean to be harsh, but the tackle you listed isn’t universal, it doesn’t catch fish everywhere.. Tell people where you’re using that tackle..
Thus saith the Lord, cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord... It seems those two verses are more relevant today then they have ever been.
I'm going to get my dinner, come back and watch this video.
Don't forget to give thanks!
Exactly what I thought

That Muskie was a WOW! Moment. Drew is an awesome fisherman and kayak designer. No electronics like you John. Man I want a shoalie sooooo bad.
That musky was booking it at the beginning of this EPIC video 📹 I was as surprised as you were!!! Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee

I’m here fishing the Shenandoah River this week. Let’s go!
That's some great river float fishing! I've only been once but I'm itching to go again
Nothing better than Adventure Fishing.
Props on the awesome kayak river fishing skills. Smart move breaking your line quickly. 😎👍
i knew there was no chance on that one, that current was moving

Lovely video again John, that river looked so high for the summer.
Yes it was

i wish i knew what it looks like in the summer, this was early spring after a lot of rain

Awesome video John God bless you sir
That muskie, haha, your reaction.🤣
I was up in the Bristol area yesterday. Have you ever fished the Watauga river over there? It looked really good to me. Great video, John. Thank you.
just a little, lots of trout

Brilliant videos and very entertaining. One question: how do you go back to you car at the end of the day ? Downstream is easy but upstream no so much
park a vehicle at the takeout to drive back up to where you started
@CreekFishingAdventures Yea, I figured 😉. Though that means more than one person and more than one car - complicated.
Pretty sure this is the last stretch of the Cowpasture River into the James. Always good fishing 😎
yes, i wish the water wasnt so fast, but you got to fish it whn you can
Nice adventure!
Man you already know I love it when I see you in Virginia!! We should go next time!

Do you add your own plastics to the spinner baits or do you buy them that way? Looked like you had a boot tail added to it or something?
i add a swimbait or something similar
@@CreekFishingAdventures I'll try it, thanks
Man that’s such a beautiful river I can just get lost in the sights
On many levels, this one was arguably one of your best, John. BTW, was that the Cowpasture River? I missed where you said you were.

what an adventure John, the only thing that could have made it any better was to land that musky at the start. God Bless and GO KATS!!!!
You gotta hit that area during summer low water. It’s awesome so is the Potomac river
i wish it wasnt 7 hours away
that last set of rapids will keep you focused on the Lord. Thanks for Sharing John.
What duck you say? It's a quacker 😂
You might want to get an inflatable kayak for some of these streams you guys are doing.
Since you’re in Virginia, you should try the Clinch river in Scott County!
Cowpasture river?
Shoalie putting in work.
Me: Blue Ridge Mts... I've been there, right? (Pondering)
Me, 5 minutes later... nope, that's Eustace on Mountain Men. 😐🙄😬😂
Shoalie hammered the rapids
What Creek are you on?
cow pasture
I recommend Craig’s Creek near Eagle Rock next time you are in that region.
That's what I'm talking about a nice VA river...
That ain't no bonafide kayak I am a proud owner of a crescent og light tackle live life in the current 👍
Next video should be fishing in the shenandoah river 😁
that river has a lot of rapids in it huh
rapids at the 12 minute mark is where one of my friends would have said "I double-dog dare you" and somebody would have tried it!
Where can I purchase the hats?
What creek? I live in the Blue Ridge
cowpasture
Do you ever fish in West Virginia?
i have not yet
@@CreekFishingAdventures we need to get you over this way sometime.
Did you hear banjos in the distance? Great video!
AYYYYOOOOOO

The SC low country sucks for freshwater fishing, heck even being outside at all sucks, the bugs are murderous!
I’m a born and bred Va boy here as well as some others commenting here. How about letting us know which River you’re on in this video?
cow pasture
No hats in your merch?
sorry, working on it
Must be the "New River " ie. SMB and Muskies

I hope you catch a bass fatter than a guy that drinks 35 big reds a day John good luck congrats on the native brookies man!
You need to try a 3 inch jerk bait they slay em on the pause
