@@davideddy2321 we can't get them because they don't have side curtain air bags, and they're turbo diesels. The US won't import any turbo diesel vehicles. It goes back to 2015 when VW faked their emissions testing in their turbo diesel Jettas they sold in the US.

BTW, the Australian outback isn't nearly as tough as the deserts, and multiple 14,000+ ft mountain ranges we have in the US. Even the East Coast mountains require serious off road SUVs. The ) Pacific Northwest definitely requires serious off road SUVs. And if you live in Alaska, forget about it. No vehicles in the US can conquer Alaska off road. Mercedes Unimogs used to be for sale in the US. Unimogs are pretty much the most capable off road vehicles in the world. The US stopped letting Mercedes sell them here about 2 decades ago.

I drive 350 to 500 miles a week and never even think about changing gear as a drag, I enjoy it. The 76 series is in my opinion the only car that replaces the Disco 2 but not having a manual option really disappoints me! I just don’t like auto’s.

Hi there. The 2024 model is definitely more refined than the model it replaces, but they are still quite farm truck oriented. That said, we know a few readers who have done a few bits of work to them (improving suspension and tuning engine), and drive them every single day.
I just got back from a month in Botswana and Zimbabwe. Please let me tell you the straight truth. The Land Cruiser 70 is utterly unrefined and basic, and that's what you want when you're in the Okavango Delta and the last tarmac was 100 miles ago. Unless you plan to go very off-road all the time, buy a Prado or Defender or Range Rover or something comfortable. These sell well in Africa and outback Australia for a reason.

Not sure if it’s only the 4 cylinder that is but check for yourselves on carsales For the record I’ve got one and the 4cylinder is a no brainer after owner the v8 just got to get over not having the sound but don’t miss changing gesrs
1. If you don't have the money for the V8's fuel consumption, just buy a Fortuner or Hilux... 2. "A good 4X4 is built, not bought". The V8 needs a tune - and it becomes a beast! While a tuned 2.8 cannot beat a tuned V8. 3. The 2.8 sounds dull and boring, while the V8 with a freeflow, just sounds epic! (Pity one cannot fit a loud exhaust to the 76 SW, since it causes an irritating "drone sound" at highway speeds, due to the outlet being under the passenger cell. The pickups doesn't have such issue with a louder exhaust)

@@espkh1549a quick tune and she pulls 650nm easily. When you're loaded with overlanding gear in the middle of the Okavango Delta in deep sand, a little torque on tap is nice.
My series 2 Land Rover will go anywhere and conquer anything , only off road though. 2nd gear low range, awesome. My daily driver , a Land Cruiser V8 does everything l require of it, on and off road through the outback and back again. But l do like the look of the new 70 series.

They're very different. The 70 Series is a workhorse, while the Prado is a mid-range family SUV.

It's diesel. Both the V8 and the turbo 4-cylinder are diesel.
