After the Fear No Mort episode, it gave us a clear idea of what Diane was like, due to Morty seeing Rick’s memories, the Fear Hole was able to use that as a basis to recreate her. She’s witty, sassy, sharp-tongued like Summer and that reminds Rick of Diane, and thats why he is like that, Morty reminds him of himself as a young teen: eager, wanting to have friends but due to the way he is(highly intelligent and definitely perverted due to the babysitter flashback) which is why he treats him like that so he doesnt become like Rick and then his granddaughter having a highly similar personality of his wife thats why he is like that so they dont go down the same path as they did: a drunken vengeful mess and someone who is erased. Plus rick does that so Summer can protect the family if anything happens to him or Morty. Plus one of the writers said that is what they imagined Diane to be.
Summer: "Morty gets everything for free!" Season one Rick: "I need you to put them way up your butt, Morty." I know it's just how Summer feels, but like... Dang, poor Morty.
I can't imagine Dayane with such an aggressive and half-monstrous attitude as Summer 😅 It's just that her appearance and her voice, her first appearances, make it difficult to see her like that. I would only say that both are very strong yes indeed....
Maybe she was like summer till she settled down with Rick. We know very little about Diane but we have seen Summer become kind and affectionate on occasion so maybe they do have a few things in common 🤷♂️

I'm 100% worry for summer now. Since Rick just that could come right back to bite him. Since he said that we don't know if evil Morty placed a Device in Rick So he can sees and hear what he says. Which means if evil Monty wants to ruin his life even more he might use that device to get rid of every summer in every dimension.

I think it's more that dogs are loyal to the point of selflessness and respect you even if it's not earned. He contrasts this with how cats respect needs to be earned, so Summer is a cat to him. Rick hates himself but cares for Morty and Summer even if he's a jackass. The episode with the split timelines and ballsack alien proves this.
He means he doesn't have to provide Summer with as much attention because she's extremely self-reliant, low radar and stays calm (like a cat), and Morty gets more help because he's accident prone, insecure, and very impulsive enough to not make big decisions by himself (like a dog). Rick respects people who are capable of handling themselves. But he obligates himself to help and guide others who can not (probably a 50/50 of its the right thing to do, but also because why tf not he likes to be superior)
Rick knows he can rely on summer we’ve seen many instances of hers following his orders when something goes wrong or going on missions by herself to support them
