- LIFE UPDATE: Wow, I’m officially a solo home owner! The feeling is so surreal. It’s been a long (and stressful) 8 month process but we got there in the end. Here’s an empty house tour of my new 3 bedroom Victorian semi!

I had one of those atrocious front doors and changed it for something more in keeping with my 1970 house.

👏👏👏 Well done! As a fellow solo buyer, nothing compares to that feeling when you get the keys go in and look around again and you stand there almost dumbfounded at having a house and doing it solo. Also got a semi, 2 bed though, big garden and drive. It feels too good to be true! Enjoy it my friend, exciting times to come decorating it!

Congratulations on your first house 🎉the fire places are beautiful it will look amazing at Christmas if you still have to buy furniture sort the garden ect maybe have the stained carpet deep cleaned it will be cheaper than replacing it good luck it will be great to watch your journey with your house 🙂

I was so glad when you said that the carpets have to go and please don't get new carpets in, get some nice floor if there isn't one underneath. As for the closet, I'd imagine putting linens there

Edit: I suggest you change the shower head and taps in the fullbath to matte black and make the sink a wood floating one. It would look really nice.

Such a nice house! Personally, I'd get rid of the faux vintage tiles in the entry way and put some authentic ones in. It's a smaller space so shouldn't be that expensive or difficult to find nice tiles.

I'm new here, love this for you!! the house is amazzzzziiingggg!!! Congrats! Are you going to be sharing the cost, how much you saved, how long you saved for, if you paid for it all on your own, the deposit, the extra fees e.g. solicitors, conveyors etc. the whole process, it would be helpful for other black folk trying to get on the housing ladder.

First of all congrats on you getting your house. Such a beautiful and tasteful house. Seriously except from some carpet changing the only thing I would do is changing the way the doors open (specially in living room and dining room) so the doors would open against the wall and not towards the room... the rest would just be cherry on top!

Wow you struck gold that that’s fantastic there’s a chance if that’s not burn on the carpet and just a stain a professional carpet cleaner could get that out you literally need to just tidy up the garden and dust and deep clean stunning ❤
Going on one year 😢 still ain’t recovered lol still have a lot of decor to do like the bathroom needs refurb and the bedrooms need decorating I think it will take 3 years 😅 by then il want to sell the house. 🏠.

That is a sweet little house. The kitchen is not my style and some of the updates miss the mark - @1:10, that panelling is not authentic to the period - and the street door is a cheap and nasty abomination, which I would change as soon as possible. Walk down your street to see if any of the houses still have the original door - unlikely, but not entirely out of the question - or what people have used as a replacement. There are lots of companies doing modern reproductions with built in safety features. I like the 'dipped and stripped' doors and that the radiators are a step up from the builder grade cheapie option. Get a washing machine BUT don't go go for a washer/dryer combo. They are not great and expensive to run. You have a garden and can dry indoors on cold, wet days. Lastly, congratulations on being able to buy a HOUSE.
