    I think I will leave my replacement to a proper Brompton mechanic, when the time for my Bromptons replacement comes, but to a titanium axle.😄

    Do you need to tap the tread before assembly

      no just use a press tool to install the 2 copper bushings then use a reamer tool to ream the copper bushings

      @bromptonexperience are you sure the bushes aren't bronze, they certainly aren't copper..

    You tapped a thread into the rear bushing. You could have just used a bolt, nut and washer as a puller for the bush. No need for hammering, heat etc. Hitting a thread tap with a hammer is most unprofessional.

      Using a tap to grip and pull the bushes is the recognised way of doing it, which is why the new spindle kit includes a tap. I haven't seen it done the way you describe. Watch the video again, he hit the mole grips not the tap. A bolt with nuts and washers is used to press the new bushes into place.
