Awesome to see you acquire this set Larry!! I absolutely love mine! Essential set for all fans of great rock n roll and Cheap Trick! Cheers mate, Matt
Thanks Matt! 🙂
I have always enjoyed their debut and Dream Police. Great band!
I bought this when it originally came out. What a great package.I originally saw them in the 70s backing up Leslie West and Queen. My favorite album is Dream Police and second is Budokan.I think their later albums are great
Nice Cheap Trick Box Set You Got There Larry , There Debute Album I Still Love The Most But There First Couple Of Albums Are All Solid 👍✌
I need to check out Cheap Trick, I’ve only ever heard one of their songs before.
Nice set Larry..without giving anything away..their debut album is quite a toe tapper..great price for 14 friggin’ discs…enjoy..and remember..Don’t go breaking my heart and I won’t go breaking your heart❤❤❤❤❤glen
Hi Larry. Great set I was in the market for because I only own Dream Police. Cannot wait to listen to them got it for my birthday.. thanks for some angels gifting me an Amazon gift card. Don't know why I never went deeper into their catalog until now. Great unboxing as always with humor as always. You are such a funny man. God bless. My favorite is Dream Police and Lap of Luxury and i can't wait to explore In Color, Heaven tonight, All Shook up produced by George Martin. Thank you again for this exquisite show and tell.
Friggin’ cds! That’s a generous collection as well 🤯 have fun listening to them 😁
Don’t have a favorite album, i’ll have to give them a listen again. But I agree their earlier stuff was more my kinda jam, although their subsequent music was pretty good too, though a bit more hit and miss at times.
Rockford and Woke Up With a Monster.
Looks like a great box set. I only have their debut but I know I should really be on the lookout for several in their discography. Cheap Trick was probably my worst concert experience but not because of the band. They were having problems with their equipment and never did get the sound quite right.
The first album is my favorite. Fantastic band.
Dream Police!! ❤
I remember getting the Lap of Luxury cassette and wearing it out with how much I listened to the entire album. I loved every song on it.
Great Cheap Trick set!!! I have a few of their albums and I really dig them. The debut and Dream Police are killer!
Live at Budokan was so huge when i was in high school and for some reason i hadn't heard them
until then , that changed
Another vote for Heaven Tonight (although that debut was life changing!!!)
Larry, favorite studio album by Cheap Trick is Heaven Tonight!
Cool box set. Not counting the Live At Budokan live album my favorite CT album is Heaven Tomight with Dream Police a close second which were also the first two CT albums I bought back in the late 70s.
Hi Larry, I have been seriously looking at this since I have but one cd of theirs and love their music. My favorites are Dream Police and Lap Of Luxury. Also like Heaven tonight and Budokan. At that price I may need to act on it before it becomes out of print again. Thank you for your great show and tell as per usual. Have a great week.
I got this box set in January, off Amazon France for £30
I like the first four, which everybody likes, but an underrated one is All Shook Up, produced by George Martin. ‘World’s Greatest Lover’ is like a John Lennon ballad.
All Shook Up is a great album. Has one of my favourites of theirs on it called "Just Got Back"
I still have the EP Found All the Parts on vinyl. They do a great live cover of Day Tripper on it.
Awesome box set!! Dream Police is one of my favourites!! Have most of their albums on vinyl! Nice box set!! Hope you enjoy my friend 😊😊
Favorite: Heaven Tonight
Least Favorite: The Doctor
I have my late mom to thank for turning me on to Cheap Trick, by accident as she would say. For my Birthday in February of 1980 (nine days before Bon Scott tragically died), my mom got me a little monophonic cassette player (pre-boom box era) and three current cassettes: Highway To Hell by AC/DC (that’s why I mentioned Bon), Eat To The Beat by Blondie and Dream Police by Cheap Trick. (My mom asked for suggestions from the cashier at Woolco, and those were the ones that she thought I’d like best!)
You will certainly enjoy exploring this box set, Larry. Here's hoping it someday leads to an album ranking! Avid fan, myself. Favorite album? My answer always bounces between the debut album and Heaven Tonight. All Shook Up is one that was not well received upon release, but in recent years has gained a ton of fan support, and it has been always another of my favorites. Standing On the Edge (you call it "Cheap Trick" in your video) has enough strong material to rise above some of the unfortunate '80s production. After Epic, the actual second self-titled album (from 1997) is another fan favorite. But if you buy only one post-Epic album, PLEASE buy Rockford - what a great comeback! So much of the later stuff is just great. These recent albums are much better then the mid to later Epics. They just keep going! There are also collections out there with so much of their great non-album material (soundtracks, TV shows, B-Sides, un-released, etc.), loaded with gems and worth exploring! Finally, Christmas, Christmas, where they cover so many of the greatest rock Christmas recordings is an annual favorite of mine (but wait 'til November for that one). Enjoy! Enjoy!
1) Heaven Tonight… by a landslide
2) All Shook Up
Most recent album, In Another World, is pretty darn fun and impressive as well.
(Day Tripper off of Found All the Parts has always been a fave).
Great video Larry, i need to explore more of their albums.
On a separate note, if you haven't heard of a Scottish band called Dogs Die in Hot Cars, I think you'd like their 2004 album Please Describe Yourself, given your love of Sparks.
That's a nice set. Tried to find it on vinyl but they go for a premium. I have all the originals anyway. In colour is my favourite.
“In Color”. Got an autographed copy from an in store appearance they made at Peaches Records!
Hi Larry, I know you've been patiently waiting 😆, So here's my list, but first, unfortunately the box set isn't available in the US. But I have owned all these through the years, I've left out Budokan due to it being live and 99% repeats.
1. Cheap Trick
2. In Color
3. Heaven Tonight
4. Lap of Luxury
5. All Shook Up
6. Dream Police
7. Standing on the Edge
8. Busted
9. Found all the Parts
10. Next Position Please
11. One on One
12. The Doctor
If you can find it, Robin Zanders solo album is fantastic. Release in 1993. The whole album is on You Tube, check it out.
Thank you!
Cheap Trick definitely gets a bad rep- they’re extremely talented and have some great songs, especially their early albums. My favorite is their debut album by a long shot!
I agree that first album rocks. I always that it had kind of a punk vibe to a few of the songs.
nice they re-issued this boxset from 2012, got it back then on sale as well ;-) Dream Police is my favorite album!
Nice boxset but I'm not into Cheap Trick.
Dream Police and One On One 😊 Saw Them In Concert (Part Of 3 Bands In Concert Including 38 Special and R.E.O. Speedwagon) Back In 1992😊 30+ Years Later The Guys Have Aged Well 👍😊
Favorite is impossible for me, been a huge fan since 76. Saw them at a HS in Naperville Illinois, and their still putting out great music😎
I love Cheap Trick's 1st 3 albums. Heaven Tonight is undoubtedly excellent. I'm sure there are other good ones. Let us know as you get into the box
I think the flame is good
My favorite song by them.
The Cd Is Actually Titled Standing On The Edge!
I really like Cheap Trick , My favorite would be Heaven Tonight or Live at Budokan.
My favorite Cheap Trick album is probably heaven tonight
Heaven Tonight and Woke Up With A Monster are my two favourite studio albums.
I bought the box set too and looking forward to listening to it. Not familiar with the albums it will interesting to see which is a favorite.
I may have to buy this. It’s a lot like the Toto box set I recently bought.
George Martin worked with the Beatles.
You learn something new every day!
Myself, I don't have a favorite Cheap Trick album. I just like Cheap Trick in general. I just like the sound they make when they get together. Truth is, they always sound better live on stage than they do on their albums.
Such a booklet will be easy to scan LOL
You and I seem to be on a very similar wavelength when it comes to music. I don't know how many times I've purchased an album or box set and then, a couple of weeks later, you release a video featuring the same album or box set! I purchased this Cheap Trick box set about two weeks ago... It's very nicely put together and most of the albums sound great. The mastering on a couple of the later albums and "One On One" isn't so great. A good Cheap Trick album I would highly recommend that is not part of this box set is "Rockford"... The album they put out just last year is also excellent! Thanks for another great video!
Live at Budokan is the one i like best
When the live version supercedes the studio version of a song you know you have a special live album.
Cheap Trick were good Larry but the thing that always turned me off about them was their blatant attempt at trying to be the Beatles,at trying to get a reaction from their fans, practically begging them to react,I want you to want me,to need me,to love me,they were trying too hard Larry, even the Beatles never did stuff like that. Bob.
I have Live at Budokan on Lp and I wish I had hair like Larry's
Hey Larry. What's up? Essential Cheap Trick is 77-83. My favorite album is In Color. No need to go beyond Next Position Please. I'm actually not in love w the debut although many consider it their finest. Personally I have everything from that album through Busted (not incl The Doctor).
i think my favorite album is heaven tonight
