I grew up in Queens, too, but that was during the 70's. I used to wait for Mr. Softee on Yellowstone Blvd. Two cones with one handle full of rainbow sprinkles! And yes, it was always after dinner right at dusk. I felt protected in my corner of the world not knowing about the chaos of the world, except for the Son of Sam. Good times for sure.
Yeah we had these in South Florida. I always remembered them, such great memories. You know, watching them going by, about to stop them but realizing you had absolutely no money and your mother would never give you any.
This is nice to see. Kids can have the same wonderful times we had as kids in the 1960's. i remember , the inside of that truck was always a mystery ,we couldnt see inside to much. The palm Trees look strange with Mister Softee , i was from Queens , NYC. Our Mister Softee came around after dinner, and after, Bungalo Bar , and Good Humor. That truck lite up at night was pure kid magic !
I live in Pennsylvania. And ALMOST every day this summer, which is about to end, Mister Softee comes around my neighborhood. And let me tell you, their milkshakes are just as delicious as the ones from Nifty Fifty's!
I lived in Davisville and I always have mister softee where I lived! But sometimes I always missed it! But chocolate ice cream always good and I love strawberry sundae
Facts now its 2019 and I'm almost 15 and this year that this video was made was when the days were so much better then these shitty days were in I dont like to grow up
Mr Softee was the shit growing up in Brooklyn NY. i can remember many a day trying to scrounge up change to get a couple of cones! my mom used to come home from work and i'd meet her getting off the subway and the ice cream truck would be out and when it was dark it would be lit up with the neon lights! hell we would even buy our dog a cone!
One of the best parts of this...it brought me right back to my childhood in NY...soon as I heard the jingle...I started looking around as if I was hearing outside my house..lol
ahhh, i miss that icecream truck... always used to come down my street, but he just hasn't been coming down lately. i've been waiting for over a year, but hasn't come yet. it is so painful to wait for that man! :( i really miss his icecream.
i have been listening to that tune now for over 45 years worked in the truce around 1971 there was the single or double cone the single was 25 cent and the double was 50 and thgen there was the ice cream dash it was a huge dash of ice cream in a paper cup
I love the ice-cream truck. It usually comes when I'm in the middle of eating or making dinner. Yesterday, when I took a couple of bites of my dinner, I heard the ice-cream truck. I told my little brother Seth that I hear the ice-cream truck. I ran downstairs and asked Mommy if she wanted anything and she just said no. I bought ice-cream for myself, Seth, and Daddy.
Hometown twin!!! I love the Mr. Softee trucks, especially because their song is better than some others. Don't you just love it when you go to Flushing Meadow Park, and all the children swarm over the truck?
I love you because but colors Play song fast sleeping with the whites because be quiet cars Jackson went to school with my school bus Jackson doll the whip dance I have stopped and no because Mommy and Daddy Georgia bullwhips for me hey cases and read a book
good times! i remember chaseing this truck down! here in philly the thing can come around at any time! my grandpa has seen this thing come around at 10pm!
This song must be a huge part of american history when even the thrash metal band "Nuclear assault" put it on the album "Game Over" and called it "Mr softee theme"
In NY Mister Softee came down the block at 11pm on school night. We suspected it was drug time. I live in Florida now and I miss NY. I am not sure if I want to move back.
Could you come to my house right now cuz I'm wearing only have $2 and we about to go get ice cream now can you come what does the ice cream man say my house already answer your question
where did u live in Brooklyn my fam grew up in brooklyn but I remember waiting up til 10 pm to get his milkshakes living in queens and I got friendly w the guy that drove mr softee when I was living in glen oaks and hed give my dog icecream as well
I moved to Florida, from New York City (Brooklyn!!) and I been up and down the Southwest Coast for like 10+ years. I HAD NOT seen ONE DAMN TRUCK around here! And wouldn't SW FL include: Naples, Fort Myers, Port Charlotte, Arcadia, Bradenton, Sarasota, Tampa, New Port Richey and all that?

For at least some Americans, that tune is a wonderful reminder of their childhood
