I heard it, I didn’t have time to react cus of the holidays. Can’t lie to you though brodie - while I like it - I don’t think it’s a AOTY contender like I was hearing a lot of people say. When he was on he was on but he had a lot of songs that lacked that wit, introspection, and lyricism that I think made him the guy who I one point considered the bar for bar best in TDE. Not to be too negative - I like it - but I feel like I gotta preemptively defend why I ain’t as high on it as some people lol.

I never thought of it when I was listening but I totally felt that some wit was missing too. The way Ab soul raps is actually super unique and funny, and it's kinda like he toned it down for this one. Man has spoiled us for years with crazy wordplay and punches, this album felt kinda dry in comparison. I still get what he was going for though, mans been through a lot the past few years and I respect the honesty he put in his bars. I just hope he keeps rapping and gets in a better place mentally. It's crazy how there are so many rappers in the game yet so few can do what the goat's do. It really hit me when doom passed. I was like damn, there may never be another that does it like him. such a mind fuck how such a select few are pushing the game forward.

I also feel like it’s gotta a lot of pressure to 1) live up to a phenomenal breakout album in control system then 2) be part of a generationally talented label. Idk if he’ll ever make a album better than control system but at this point I just want him making music consistently. Yeah big ole facts bout doom. Plus it’s kinda hard to see how impactful someone is while you’re in the moment. With some of these artists who I think push the genre forward like a Griselda or Kendrick, I try to envision what the impact will look like in 10 years and even that’s hard.
