Finally an A380 on your channel! Excellent review as always! Never flown Singapore Airlines but always heard good things about them - except that crazy turbulence flight a few months ago...
Last year in June, I flew Singapore, Airbus A350-900 (9V-SML) from Barcelona to Milan on the 5th freedom flight for the 1st time, we departed and arrive on time, flight is good and okay, includng great service, even though they give snack if I recall correctly or not mistaken.
I flew singapore airlines A380 to Australia via Changi and had a great experience, highly recommend, staff were amazing, couldnt do enough for everyone
SQ discontinued amenity kits in Y class since Covid, though you will find complimentary toothbrushes & toothpastes packs in the washrooms on long-haul flights.
Fun fact, amenity kits are still available but only upon requests.. but usually they do provide them on seats for long haul like this one. Not sure why they weren’t provided during boarding though. Children amenities can be requested too even if you don’t have a kid on board :)
T5 in construction will almost double Changi's capacity! Considering there's still available capacity in the existing terminals I don't understand why so much more in one project.
Nice thumbnail. Hope you enjoy your 1st time flying Singapore, Airbus A380 flight to Frankfurt, even though there is no amenties in economy class, and the service is a little slow, compare to the upper deck 1st and business class, considering your flight is 70% full and I wish they have air vent and external camera which Singapore airlines don't. What date did you film and I know you sleep quite a bit, but how many hours in total?
You never film on your trip report, even though you flew Singapore airlines before? I saying have you flew the Airbus A380 on different airline before? That's it.
Hello Jack - pleased you enjoyed flying both SIA and its A380. One point not mentioned was the quietness of the cabin especially on take-off. It's because Airbus has mounted the A380 engines some distance from the fuselage ... unlike Boeing with its 777s.
I wanted to fly the a380 of British airways in August, but British airways rebooked us many times without any reason and so I ended up flying Iberias A330 😢
16:38, $374 from Ho Chi Minh to Frankfurt via Singapore is super cheap, wow that's a good deal. It's almost similar to my China Eastern flight that I flew from Ho Chi Minh to London via Shanghai last year in June, 1 way, I pay $390, it's very cheap, almost comparable to your flight. 16:55, Same, you flew the same route on my 1st flight, but my 2nd flight, my final destination is London, the price is almost identical to your flight, wow.
A nice and detailed flight review video. I enjoyed watching it. Danke Schön. And yes, I agree with your assessment too. It seems to me that since 2020 onwards, after experiencing it myself, indeed there has been reduction in SQ’s quality and on-board sense of luxury which is subsequently reflected in the Skytrax ranking itself. If I compared Economy class long-haul SQ flight before 2020 and now, here are what I noticed. (1) The elimination of amenities kits as mentioned in the video, which years ago, SQ did handed them out for each pax, which contained socks, eye cover, ear plug, and several other stuff in an elegantly-designed pouch. (2) The downgrade of Economy class's meal presentation. It does not look as elegant anymore. Previously, SQ meal presentation looked elegant, high-class, proper, well-thoughtful in every aspect so as to have a luxurious feel. For instance, using a refined white-colour plate for the main dish, with an additional transparent classy glass cup with semi-transparent SQ logo on it, a small cup of milk, and all are placed against proper, darker-colour greyish tray, enhancing its colour contrast, instead of the current black plate on a thin cheap-looking pitch-black tray. Indeed, after looking at an old SQ in-flight meal photo, I realised the tray was much larger back then, (3) The boarding pass itself was previously had more elegant design on a thicker paper, similar to Business, First class, and Suite. Nonetheless, the other aspects are still good, such as the hot towel service which adds to a sense of liveliness, pillow on each seat, cabin crew appearances and manners, choice of meals, as well as toilet cleanliness. Not sure if you had ice cream service after meal? They had it previously too ~ Warm regards,
Thanks a lot! Your points are pretty spot-on. The presentation of the food could certainly be improved - especially compared to Turkish, but the food itself was really good so it didn't bother me that much. And no, there was no ice cream. Best, Jack
Changi has had those prison cells at the gate for over 35 years and I hate them too. Some now have toilets, but that doesn't change much for me. I always show up as late as possible. Skytrax is corrupt. Money can improve the ranking.
Singapore airlines is the first airline to offer hot towel to all passengers in all classes. I prefer SQ economy class IFE than EK as I find the latter IFE is a bit dated unless you are on Business and First class.
The Singapore Airlines I experienced 15 years ago is no more. Hospitality has vanished. Give you an example, my recent flight to Singapore from Sydney, I am a diabetic and got quite thirsty. I asked for a glass of water and the female stewardess advised me snacks would be served soon water will come with it. I waited 1 hour 45 minutes still nothing until a gentleman probably the flight manager was attending to other passengers and drew his attention and asked for water he brought it out within 5 minutes. Flight to Kolkata to Singapore - no tea/coffee was served citing turbulence but it was minor and over in 30 minutes. In the past a small snack was offered before landing with tea/coffee/water - nothing this time. A350 planes were squashy I felt less leg room than B737-8! Plane from SIN- CCU was late by 35 minutes no apologies were offered. Talking about the airport- great airport indeed but atrocious staff. No one smiles. Security screening people are gruff and abrupt. Multiple screening for transit passengers at every gate is over the top. Like you said once past screening there is no toilets as far as I could see so you wait 35 minutes until you board the aircraft! There is also no feedback option on the SIA or Changi website. So yes SIA in my books would not rate above 5 out of 10.
Singapore Airlines is OK but United is way better. Great food, excellent crew, amenity kit, tons of entertainment options, and overall attention to every passenger's need make United the best airlines in the world.
Thanks for all the comments guys! Here's the first leg (SGN - SIN) of this journey: ua-cam.com/video/JAFH2WMBWHg/v-deo.html

We're on the same boat now! Having flown a Singapore Airlines A380!
I like singapore airlines! Excellent service, competing well with the gulf carriers 😊
Flew Singapore A 4 weeks ago,was a awesome experience,thank you!

Great video Jack, could be an Changi airport review on its own with your stunning shots and explanations 😂
Thanks!
That airport looks amazing 😮
I'm looking to fly Singapore Airways to Thailand
so I wanted to see what economy looks like 😊

Thank you for sharing your video

Go, go Tiger! Those meals looked pretty delicious too.
They were ;)
Singapore Airlines with many A380 ❤ are the best, second to none.

Who said it was my first time flying SQ? ;)

SQ is the best and 6 stars !! ❤❤❤❤❤

Thanks. Yeah it is indeed very quiet.
Beautiful airport
100%
What is the legroom like ? I’m 180cm tall and I’m worried it’ll drive me crazy as I’m very fidgety or will I be okay
How tall are you? I’m 6ft 3 and worried I’m going to struggle going for Heathrow to Christchurch
I wanted to fly the a380 of British airways in August, but British airways rebooked us many times without any reason and so I ended up flying Iberias A330 😢
A380 is the best but with Singapore Airlines I can personally prefer Airbus A350s more!

only 8.5????? For a flewless flight??? May be not flewless i think.

Cool joke!
JFK AND LGA in NYC IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
