My body has been trying to simultaneously laugh and sob since I heard this news, I cannot believe we’re already on the way to seeing the Mighty Nein on screen.
I got introduced to CritRole through the Mighty Nein when I started seeing random fan art on Pinterest. So they're already holding my favorite spot. I also happen to like the characters better than VM, so I am absolutely excited to see this.
I cannot contain my excitement! The Mighty Nein was my introduction to Critical Role, and I hold all of those characters dear to my heart. The moment I’m most excited for is the Angel of Irons arc (specifically the fight at the cathedral). And I NEED to see the Cognouza Ward animated.
Oh, SO MANY moments I want to see! Caleb's firewall in the port, Fjord's showdown at the forge, FLUFFERNUTTER!!!, Jester's cupcake, Molly "meeting" Lorenzo, Yasha's fight club scene, Nott's treatment, Cad's "Help, it's again", Caleb's mission for the necklaces while Jester occupies the guard, Caleb's tower, DATE NIGHT!!!!! (so many of those items need more exclamation points!)
In the announcement for this they used the phrase 'curious beginnings', which is the name for C2E1, which makes me think we're jumping in right at the start (which is a fair assumption because M9 and VM had very different starts but still). God, I'm hyped. I love the Nein so much. Also, I'm hoping for Calamity too. Desperately hoping for Aabria and Sam to tear my heart into pieces again.
@@kellyxiaomedia makes me wonder how they'll do it! There were a few 'session zeros' Matt did with Sam/Liam, Marisha/Travis/Laura and Taliesin/Ashley that I don't think we've ever really seen anywhere, but my money is on starting in the tavern (if nothing else because I love a TTRPG trope)
I've seen some amazing animations of the cupcake scene already but to see it fully produced, oh boy, and hell yes to traveller con, need to see the wonder glue in action 😂
@@kellyxiaomedia also I almost forgot about fjord holding his sword to his chest while calling out Ukatoa and the carnage of Caleb crunching people into metal snowman lol 😂
i just hope they give it the difference in tone from tlovm that it deserves. their story has so much to gain from the medium of animation if only its done right
I think so, certainly story wise it lends itself to a different tone from the get go with the party not knowing each other, and obviously being far more unsung heroes as it goes on
Was already hyped about Mighty Nein, but the fact that Amazon opened up to movie deals makes me very excited for a possible Calamity movie, which is something I desperately need. It's short enough and can function as a standalone story, which is attractive for new viewers, and can basically act as a gateway into the Fandom
I agree. I think it could easily be Calamity. If not then it might be Search for Grog as a sort of epilogue but they could easily montage that moment or go off screen and come back as they stretch all sore and stuff.
The Mighty Nein was my first experience with Critical Role, which is the reason it will probably always be my favorite campaign and I'm so excited to see this in my favorite medium
I kinda wanna see The Search For Grog and Dalen’s Closet get combined into a movie or something. It can be reworked slightly so that Grog pulling that card from the deck happens right before the wedding and they have to go and retrieve him before the wedding can happen.
That’s exactly the thought I was having earlier this morning….Grog’s trademark dimbf*ckery in the epilogue of campaign one would be an amazing end to the Legend of Vox Machina series, leading to a movie or special that tells the story of those two special one shots.
I've been doing a rewatch of C2 for giggles, so this hits just right. Episode 8 alone has *so many* moments I already want in the show (The naming of the group, "The Ruby of the Sea says hello", Extreme Syphilis and the Bad Luck Bandits, the introduction to the Enchanters Pumat Sol, among others).
So many iconic moments I'd love to see, but which ones actually make it is hard to say. In general just getting to see Beau and Yasha's stories adapted and streamlined into a scripted narrative is what I'm most excited for.
I'm very excited! Although Vox Machina is my favorite, I'm excited for this. Hope it doesn't take away from VM though. I am curious to see how they do the Terry & Vecna Arc
The lack of a certain character among the silhouettes makes me dread the cliffhanger they could end M9 season 1 with 😬. And a Calamity movie would be absolutely phenomenal, especially as a way to introduce some very important lore to the animated series!
the worst thing is the timeline would fit with that...moment...happening pretty early, possibly as a season cliffhanger or maybe even earlier than that 😭 it really would be the dream
It will take more production time for a whole new campaign than the continuation of an existing campaign as you will need to build all character models, main and supporting, from the ground up. Season 3 of Vox Machina will feature some new/redesigned models and locations but a lot of the early storyboarding and design is probably done
I think the goal is for the two series to run simultaneously, but staggered. Amazon's goal would be to have one series run its season in the beginning of the year, and the other the latter part of the year, with the intention of maintaining the fanbase as Prime Subscribers on a more consistent basis. That just leaves the question of whether Titmouse can get the extra hands needed to handle it, and of course our already spread thin CR cast being able to handle the additional work load. But that's my guess as to the plan.
There's a knock on the door of the temple. What follows afterwards is a gentle creaking sound as a slender pale firbolg peaks his head out with a cup of tea in his hand, "Huh. I think I only got three more cups, hold on." I will start balling with happiness when that happens. As for the movie, I believe that to be EXU Calamity. If not then it could easily be "The Search for Grog."
YES!! This is insane. It all began from a kickstarter and now CR and Mat Mercer are getting their franchise. Absolutely nuts and I can't wait for M9 series!!!
Obviously everyone is thinking Calamity, but there are so many short series or one-offs they could do as well: Undeadwood, Honey Heists 1-3, Darrington Brigade, Search for Grog, Dalen's Closet, the list goes on.
Holy shit i didn't even think about a potential Calamity animated. Hell it could even be a movie. I am beyond stoked for M9 animated, it s what got me through covid when i was bedridden and then unemployed. unbeleivably hyped.
Potential Movie? I mean apart from the adaptations of EXU/Oneshots only one thing comes to mind. A thing I wanted since I learned they have shared backstory. *takes a deep breath*: GILMORE ALLURA KIMA ADVENTURING PARTY PREQUEL PLEASE!!!!!!
Im happy about the MN series too, but despite joining the fandom during C2 and loving Molly, as a whole I love VM more than MN (Or BH so far but I am very far behind in that campaign)
Important note: from what I understand (and admittedly I understand very little) a ‘first look film deal’ does not mean a movie is currently in the cards, it just means that if they were to ever consider making a film, Amazon (with whom they have made the deal) will get a ‘first look’ to decide if _they_ want to produce it, after which if they say no then the film could be shopped around.
Not a fan of anything after season 2, but one or two of the one-shots (Darrington Brigade anyone?) could be some great and shorter projects. As for Mighty Nein, I want to see Jester cast Modify Memory on the Witch and someone's mother.
@@kellyxiaomedia I'm not too into the first campaign, about 20 episodes in, I don't have the time to do both, so it'll just have to wait until I finish the first one
@ArchDemonDemiurge you have to make it past the departure of Orion. He brings down the vibe of the chemistry they all have together. Please stick with it and make it to episode 28. You will be very pleased with the feeling you gwt watching the role play work with this group
@@1sgtdyer2478 I like it, I meant that I'm not too far into the campaign. I'm liking it just fine, it's a lot of fun, though the comments on the videos with Orion can be a bit annoying, as a lot are just complaining about Orion instead of how great the story is, how cool Matt describes stuff, and other stuff like that. Personally, I've heard about much worse players, so he's hardly detracting from my enjoyment. It's a just taking a while to get through because they're all several hours long, I have work and play games.
Here's my tinfoil hat contribution. It seems as though Chroma Conclave will cover Season 2 & 3, season 3 coming out early 2024. I could imagine a Vox Machina wrap up movie revolving around a condensed Whispered One story line, coming out mid to late 2024. That could then get Mighty Nein season 1 on the internet (are we on the internet?) as early as Jan/Feb 2025. That's a tight timeline, but I can't see them starting MN before VM wraps.
Like many others I really want to see Calamity as an animated movie (especially the start of ep 4) but would also like to see EXU Prime first just to mentally prepare myself because I love those dumbasses 😭
ARRRGH!! How could I forget him in my list! At this point, I'm going to need almost one episode of show for every episode of C2 to get all the moments I want.
One word, cupcake. As for any movie....yeah, EXU:Calamity would be the ultimate goal. Imagine a live action Asmodeus entering into the material plane through a torn apart tree while in slow motion everyone gets destroyed.
I think so, I can't imagine anyone else helming that role, or Pumat, I wouldn't be surprised if they made Essek a bigger feature generally in the earlier parts of the campaign
uh, I did not know this. Thats awesome. But to be honest though, personally I felt C2, aka Mighty Nein, was extremely boring. That is MY opinion, but I'm honesty pumped to see Jester & Co as animated series. But I'm probably not as hyped as some others. My first thought regarding crossovers etc, I'm curious if they'll touch upon "Tusk Love" in the M9 series (since the book popped up in VM's show for a second during their visit to Gilmore's)
TBH mighty nein made me lose interest in crit role slowly and lost it completely in current campaign but im happy for the fans of it seems its titmouse again who will work on it and seeing what came out for vox machina this is all good news
I'm not sure what to think. I'm concerned. It seems like A LOT of work which may make the crew burn out pretty badly. And i didn't fall in love with campaign 2 as much. May be i'm not remembering it that well but i think it didn't have as good of a structure as C1. Not to mention that newcomers that loved VM series might not vibe as much with M9, it may be not as successful, which may lead to a lot of disappointment and problems with Amazon. They're jumping on this because VM is a huge success on their platform and will expect at least the same from other Critical Role content.
