Respected Sir . I'm Your Big fan sir but I have a doubt . I got no response from prepladder . Sir What's The Difference between gfr and clearance . I'm getting everytime confused in it . We use the same formula to calculate both .
Clearance = (U x V)/P. The numerator is (U x V). It is the total excretion rate of a substance, into urine, per unit time. A substance is excreted into the urine by TWO processes ~ (1) glomerular filtration [So GFR included] , and (2) tubular secretion. That’s one difference between clearance and GFR. Clearance will include both processes - GFR and tubular secretion. Another point:- GFR tells us about the filtration rate of a substance per unit time. Clearance is the RATIO (Ux V) /P. Clearance tells us, how much was the concentration of that substance in the plasma (that is, denominator P), and from that, how much is being excreted into the urine per unit time (that is numerator U x V).
@@VivekSirsPhysiology Sir it means That we measure gfr via Clearance Only for those substances whose clearance and Gfr are almost same . OTHERWISE these are two different terms .
We don't measure GFR from clearance. GFR has another formula (net filtration pressure X capillary filtration coefficient) which i have described in videos (prepladder). And, clearance is equal to GFR for some substances like inulin. But still, GFR is the absolute filtration rate of a substance, whereas clearance is the RATIO (means, in clearance, we also consider its plasma concentration, which we don't take in GFR).
