Dorothy's father lived until aged 94 & her sister 95. Ms. Kilgallen's life was cut down half way through. We were all robbed of such a talented journalist. She stood out when her views differed from others around her, she was undeterred, relentless & right.
Her father gave her a typewriter in 1919 and said she’d be on a broadcast television show even though television wouldn’t be in homes for another 40 years?
My thought as well. Although, admittedly, 1930's Germany utilized CRT screens for video calling, but not for home use. Not sure about the time frame when the word 'television' came into use.
He handed the prodigious five-year-old a Remington-Rand typewriter and said: “One day you will perform on a broadcast television show sponsored by the manufacturer of this device.".....Wait, so in 1918, her Dad knew about broadcast television? Why would you try to waste people's time with this foolishness? I'm out
born in the sad end of a Graf Zeppelin? wha? She did not write her book at the age of 7. In 1918 her dad tells her she'll be on television and then go interview a suspect of a crime not yet committed? Is this a weird attempt at slam poetry? Horrid "music". Are you one of those who considers the 1950s simply fodder for pop art? Do people pay you for this activity?
John Logie Baird might have something to say about that too! May be a cynical test of your average YTuber's gullibility? She did take a ride on the Hindenburg tho.
I will look into that. My vague recollection is that I found the reference to the Bixby print in a contemporaneous report on the print series and I quoted what was in the article. However, it's possible that the article or my transcription introduced an error. Today I found an auction site posting from 2017 listing the Bixby print as Slow Return, no definite article preceding. So, the "the" may indeed be a less than meticulous person's add-on. A vintage newspaper search is yielding no results on Bixby art or the G.E. Celebrity Art Print series.
Pretty sure her father, the husband of her mother, wasn't talking to her or anyone else about televisions or television networks in1918 ... the first public radio broadcast was't until 1906. Nobody was talking television.
Fred Flintstone had a television. Fred Flintstone operated a dinosaur at his job at the quarry. Dinosaurs are sixty-six million years old. Therefore televisions are sixty-six million years old. The logic is airtight. And it is back up by science and the research team at Hanna-Barbera.
What insane rambling on what is a true mystery of historical importance...I thought we'd find some useful insight here......."her father James, the husband of her mother" ( was that clarification necessary?)...., and his statement to her , "one day you will perform on a broadcast television show, etc".....really?...thanks for the explanation and other irrelevant cameo's of news article snippets that don't relate.....random miscellaneous ramblings.
Kinda' like the cases in which multiple gunshot wounds to the back of the victim's head are declared to be suicides. I forget the suspect's name, but DK was said to have been involved in a brief affair with a man who had been present at an accidental / suicide death of another woman prior to the demise of DK, and he had made some suspicious remarks about DK's death.
Carl, I think you might have a future in artistic video productions...but that future has not yet arrived. Intriguing surrealistic con job, tho. Remember: Just cuz it contains noir elements and creepy music and non-sequiturs does not make it art. Don't stop tho...practice makes perfect.
Annoying background music and verbiage. She was born ..."in the sad end of a Graff Zeppelin." Huh? At the end of the Graff Zeppelin timewise or location wise? Her father is the husband of her mother? How profound.

What a load of crap. She was born in Chicago. As for her death 'They' entered the third floor of her NY townhouse. Laced her drinks, hid, waited for her to die, dressed her, searched for and found whatever and then left, all while there were others in the house and got away with it . . . . or she was careless, took sleeping pills and had too much to drink
Both of these people believe in extremes: @mikemactavish1665 and the creator of this video. Try the middle of the road. Several witnesses saw Dorothy Kilgallen unresponsive in a bed in which she never slept. It wasn’t her bed. She habitually slept on another floor of her Manhattan brownstone, not on the floor where people found her.
To clarify: "convicted" was used in reference to Jack Ruby, not Oswald. I concede that Oswald was a mere assassin and not a "murderer", however I was unable to resist the use of the outlandish phrase "murderer, murderer" when the possibility occurred to me. I confess that the verbiage is more inclined to poetry than relaying accurate results of research. Jeezes or Geezer? Je-Sus or Gee-gaw? Cole Slaw or Colonel Sanders? Oz-wald or Ru-bee? The World May Never Know.
I understand that you was speaking about Jack ruby, but I don't really understand the verbiage nor the reference to kentucy fried, colonel sanders ,maybe the conspiracy theorist think they were someway involved in the kennedy assassination
This is one of the worst put-together biographies of someone’s life ever. The music was super irritating, you barely even told Dorthy’s story and the end of your video was all jumbled up. It then ended abruptly out of nowhere.

She was murdered
@@sierravista9013totally agree!
“Her father, the husband of her mother . . . “ What kind of wording is this supposed to be? Though I suppose it goes with the rest of this. Weird.
At least her father was not a murderer murderer like Jack Ruby.
It's the kind of wording that goes along with the kind of background "music" (cough) this video used.
Any male could be the father, not necessarily married to the mother.
@@athena3865 Right, Athena. That turn of the phrase was the only strange thing about this.

That jumped out at me as well.
Television was invented in a garage in Berkeley, CA by Philo T. Farnsworth in 1927. It did not get broadcast into homes in the U.S. until 1947.
Funny how he was exactly right

Reminiscent of mad Beatnik poetry in a 1950's bar....... Utterly useless.
Just finished Mark Shaw's "The Reporter Who Knew Too Much." Highly recommend it.
This video is the product of perhaps too much glue sniffing.

Max, also the opinion of many others!
Surreal! Impressively edited. Love the Blue Fireman shoutout…it hangs in my living room!

For the Bill Bixby print mentioned at the end of the video, omit the 'The' that they mistakenly put in the title. Its title was just 'Slow Return.'
