  • DIY Solar Combiner Box on the cheap for our small solar system setup. Been using it for a while now and it's working great so I thought I would share a video on how simple it was to make one since the bought boxes are so high. I bought everything at Homedepot for around 10 bucks or less.

how many watts does your panels produce on a good day?

It produces about 200 watts an hour now that I've got the 100 watt panel added to my array. So on a summer day I would say some where around 2800 to 3000 watts for the whole day. It's more than what my battery bank will hold when it has a full charge so we use the solar power a lot during the day now as well as at night for free lights and stuff.

Can I just hook up 2-100watt solar panel kits to a battery bank instead of buying a combiner box? 8panels 200watt - 2charge controler in (1 bank 12v 400amp). Dont wanna guy a combiner box yet. $$

You have to go through the charge controller, it will over charge the batteries if you don't. Just tie all your panels together (up to what your charge controller will handle) then run through a charge controller to make sure it will not harm your batteries.
