GTA2 The Movie
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лют 2025
- This short film, exclusive to Moving Shadows 99.1, based on GTA2, and gives a little taste of the what will be in the game.
It was filmed in NYC and the soundtrack is entirely composed of tracks donated by Moving Shadows artists.
GTA2 is the sequel to the award winning, Grand Theft Auto.
Grand Theft Auto, and Grand Theft Auto, London 1969 have sold in excess of 2.5 million units, which clearly shows for demand of games with urban realism.
GTA2 was realesed on October 22, 1999, and is set to continued where the original left off.
Already one of the most anticipated games of 1999, GTA2 takes the ground-breaking formula of the original game and builds on that to create something entirely new.

I was in this little film, I played one of the Russian Gunman.
Cool
How old are you
How old r u , and cool
So dope, I just found out it exist , ive watched the intro to gta2 a million times and had no idea.
You wish, as so do I
Fun fact! Japanese word "zaibatsu" (financial clique, plutocrats, oligarchy) is very similar by the sound and spelling to the Russian obscene word "zayebatsya" (pronounced as "zaibatsa"), which means "be very tired after hard and annoying work or exercise".
Wow.
пояснил)
In slovak its similiar to "zajebať sa", which means "to kill yourself"
in polish there's a similiar world - "zajebany" - it can also mean someone who is killed or something like container which is full of items
Наверное ты zaibalsa, пока ты это писал)
6:34 this sequence always gave me goosebumps. Best shot sequence of the whole thing. Music, static shot of the crew bumping around in the van. Freeze frame of Niko Bellic Sr. It’s perfect.
definitely ahead of it's time, 10 seconds of brilliance
Niko Bellic?
The guy driving the van is named Claude Speed.
@@v_Unknxwn_v lol yeah I was referring to the Russian in the grey tracksuit, he got the Niko Bellic vibe. 7:28
Ironic, the concept art of Claude Speed in GTA 2 is very similar with Niko, but the introduction is just a handsome guy that doesn't speak, during gameplay he looks like a gang biker.
Live by the gun, die by the gun.
I'd love to see a full GTA 2 movie.
Looper is also a Movie Taking Place in The Future Years and Same Ambient as GTA 2

Barrels not Barells
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
I DON'T BELIEVE SOMEONE POSTED A VERSION OF THIS SHORT FILM WITH BETTER QUALITY, I'M SHOCKED, AND STILL WAS POSTED THAT YEAR, I'M A GTA 2 FAN AND NOT EXPECTING TO SEE THAT SHORT IN BETTER QUALITY !!!! THANK YOU, BUT THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM BRAZILIAN!!!!!

DMA lowered the quality because it was part of the game so the video would run smoothly. They took parts of the original short film and rebranded it as GTA 2.

04:40 looks like the character upon using drugs gets aware of the player above his head (remember the game have the birdview camera) get paranoid and struggles to regain control over his actions.
From what I've read on TV Tropes on GTA 1 and 2, I think the birds-eye view was implied that everything in the game was recorded by the helicopter on live TV.
Claude using drugs ? Damn this guy Crazy Thats why this guy my Favorite Gta Character oh additional info Claude is a Nervous Patient and maybe that's why he's crazy Maybe he's more crazy than Trevor

giwake It currently is. Was sourced from a VHS. Since VHS is still not very high quality, the biggest difference is that it’s being played back at 24/30FPS.
@@theobserver4214 in 1999 we already have dvd
@@rwdus Yes, but DVD was expensive and not many had DVD players yet. There were also issues with early DVDs and video quality
@@rwdus Not everyone, in Russia DVD players became mass-produced somewhere by the end of the 00s or the beginning of the 10s (although in the 90s they were also massively advertised, but they cost like a car)
7:30 guy just waving a gun around without firing trying to replicate recoil 😸
All these years later... I had no idea the intro was a part of an actual short film. Thanks for letting me know, Wiki!
This follows GTA 3's story way better. I'm convinced after San Andreas 1992 Claude (just like CJ) was either doing this stuff for Catalina or during his free time, they did heists and crime separately to avoid being connected. She did imply they were gonna go on a crime spree all over the Country. So in 1999 they probably made a quick pitstop in Anywhere City or Catalina went to Liberty to expand with the Cartel and sent Claude here to expand her connections. He probably didnt die at the end and simply suffered mortal injuriers like he did at the start of GTA3
I think GTA2 takes place in the future.
@mobility spoon I guess, but with the actor's resemblance to III's Claude it would feel like a pity to not connect them in my headcanon.
The thing is that it's confirmed that GTA 2 and 3 aren't connected
Both Claudes are the same person, but the games take place in different universes
this is not Claude from 3D universe and besides, Claude can't even talk, and I doubt that he would be screaming on mafia boss at his desk. lol 😀
its crazy to survive it should be pissed esp if emt and places are already busy w/ other stuff he did
7:31 i love this moment
I’m still waiting for someone to recreate this in a machinima-style movie in GTA 4 or GTA 5.
What an awesome idea, hope it happens

A recently found rare VHS source from last year.
As a child, I purchased gta2, I remember seeing it at bestbuy and excitedly choosing it out. Took it home and this movie changed my life. The music and aesthetic and just everything about it....I suddenly knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, hahahah. Though I would become a type or version of this character, I have long left my Claud Speed days behind me. But to this day, the soundtrack of choice turned me on to DnB and further my likening for the EDM genre as a whole.
5:50 actual recoil... meanwhile in modern Hollywood productions, with infinite budgets, they don't even bother!
yea and u can see he is blinking when shooting
It's ironic that a 10 minute short film with a small budget have better gun effects than a Hollywood film
7:30 Followed by a guy in the back trying but failing to replicate recoil 🤣
incredible. thank you for the high quality!
This is very entertaining for such a short film. And it reminds me again that movies were much better than nowadays.
There isn't any finesse anymore. Just mindless entertainment and as much cgi as they can get away with
I love so much these parts 2:12 and 2:34 the music gives that darker atmosphere, also claude in this short movie is so accurate
I'm definitely thinking of buying a BMW E39 just to get the nostalgia everyday
Can you buy me one too
Still one of my favorite live action scenes before a simple game that grabbed the late 90's and today by the balls
So aggressively late 90s I love it.
If this was made today, it would have flying bikes, jets, tanks and orbital cannons.
To be fair the only reason everybody has that stuff is because of exploits and shark cards lol. If everyone played 100% legit most people would be broke robbing stores lol.

Funny how the game intros differ in PC, Dreamcast vs PS1. In the first mentioned the assassin nails the thief but in PS1 he gets to walk away and beyond the assassin getting geared up, is never seen again.
