Two words of advice for two of these things one with the zip ties you can always look online and usually find at least white gray and brown zip ties as well. It’ll help blend it in better depending on the color that you need. Also, I hate chords being displayed, but I will say there are some parts of the house where it’s just kind of impractical or just looks awkward to me to hide the chords in which case what I did because I have a lamp that I absolutely loved is if you’re pretty handy, it’ll cost a little bit more butyou can cut off the original cord of the lamp and replace it with a pretty fabric cord. it looks a lot higher end and I just think it aesthetically actually doesn’t look bad compared to the standard plastic cords.
Nice video, but: * Wires can sparkle eventually, so don't put blankets or beds too close to them. It may cause fire. * Instead of using duct tape on furniture, consider painter's tape. Duct tape will leave glue marks, hard to remove.
I always use clear medical tape to stick chords to the backside of my furniture. It’s cheap, it’s clear and it holds really well while still being super easy to remove. And it doesn’t leave any residue or cause any discolouration. So its the perfect tool for all my cable management needs.
I like the idea of using command hooks and the macrame cord cover. Large potted plants do a great job of hiding cords. Personally, I try to go cordless as much as possible and minimalism has definitely helped.
Omg this is one of those low key annoying problems that is always there, but never quite annoying enough to address. Thanks for bringing it to the front of mind and inspiring me to tackle it!
Hi Ashlynne. Those binder clips are also great for securing open bags in your fridge or freezer. I saw my mother-in-law using plastic ones specifically for the kitchen, but then I thought: why not use what I've already got?! They work just as well as long as you fold the bag opening to the right size for clipping, and they're not affected by the freezing conditions. Perfect! I also love your macrame idea for covering cords. Have a lovely weekend. x
Thank you, Ashlynne, for these great tips and for showing how they work. We all deal with those annoying cords. Thank you for linking all of the products, too!
I loved this! It's a real life struggle. Great tips! I love the macrame wrap for the cords you just can't hide. I appreciate the effort to put out such helpful videos. 👌
I never thought cords could become an eye sore but I’ve come to the realization that they are a hassle to which is why in our household, we have a power pack for all of our cords. You have very smart and innovative tips on keeping cords from becoming an eye 👁️ sore
There are heavy duty transparent tapes that last for years. The normal cellotape/Scotch tape ages quickly and dries off. Cable ties - plastic covered wires also work particularly for looped up cords. When tying down the chords the problem is when the furniture is moved for cleaning or needing access at the back. Cables and power chords are hard enough but a lot of electronics comes with external power bricks (like laptops) and wall plug (phones, routers).
Had to stop your video to go and organize one all my cords and find some that I know are somewhere to organize cords on desk. Then I forgot I was watching this and decided to take down all my thick winter clothes to put away. Then I took all the clothes that need cleaning to the laundry because I cannot put away dirty clothes for a season. Now where was I. Oh yes listening to your video which will have to wait because someone is coming over and I have not had my bath yet. 😂 so as you can see I a, very organized used 😂😂😂. And will probably come back to your very useful video this afternoon. As it needs my full attention. 🌸
Cables, especially when charging, can generate heat. Knotting or wrapping another cord around it can restrict airflow and potentially lead to overheating. Over time, this can degrade the cable's insulation, leading to short circuits or, in extreme cases, a fire.. If you knot or wrap something too tightly around the charging cable, it could stress the internal wires, leading to breaks or fraying, which increases the risk of electrical failure or sparks. It's not recommended to knot or wrap cords around charging cables, as it can increase the risk of overheating or damaging the cable. Use solutions that don't put strain on the cable or restrict airflow (clips, velcro strips, cable organizers)...
Hi Ashlynne, Thank YOU so much for making this video. Cords drive me insane, especially in my office and living room area. I love the macrame idea and will attempt to do that. I also love the cord box. That is easy and simple for me. I will look around the house to see what big decorative items I can use to hide those hideous cords.
Hi Ashlynne good morning happy Friday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
I've used those silicone ones on my nightstand. I love the rack you can place under your desk. I will be buying that next to organize all the wires at my desk. Thanks!
Loved your short video. I hadn’t thought of the macrame or the metal clips! Thank you for sharing! Maybe you have more “out of the box” organizing tips for other rooms: bathrooms, guest rooms, garage? We’re waiting!
Super helpful tips. Thank you! Really like the idea of making a feature of the wire. Living with a vintage décor means the super sleek cable hides won't work - I have hidden speakers in wicker chests in the living room, hiding both speakers and wires, but allowing the sound. After viewing your video I am now wondering if some sort of vintage storage might work the power banks and plugs for the desk area. I see the hide box you used has air holes, so I assume care would be needed to select a suitable, safe storage piece. I am hopeful, from viewing your video I will find a solution. Many thanks 😊
Amazing! In the advent of electrified homes, such things as exposure of "modern marvels" like cords, appliances and even outlets were proudly displayed as a sign of affluence. Water heaters were even considered a kitchen appliance! Today our power sources are an unsightly decor mistake. I live in a 1915 house and my wall outlets are attached on the outside of the walls. And there are very few of them so extension cords are running everywhere. 😂
Great video, Ashlynne! Thank you, these tips are so helpful, as I'm trying to reduce the amount of visual clutter in my small, open-concept apartment!👍
Love the macrame hack. I would add labels to the clips you put on the cord wraps near the end. And maybe put the clips on so the handles are above the wire so you can hang them on a hook. No more wondering what that cord is for and throwing it away only to find it's for your expensive, rechargeable camping light a week later when you're getting ready to go camping.
I love this video and thanks so much for this initiative. Another way I use to hide chords is plants... especially ones with bigger pots and bigger and darker leaves❤
I have been searching for a cord hiding video like this! Thanks! I never thought of tape or zip ties! Love the rope trick…i was hoping you would mention the ugly internet modem and thick cords…but i will try one of your tips! All great tips!
That last clip hack, rotate the metal to the outside and they hang nicely too. I have a pegboard in my utility room that’s tucked in a corner with long bent hooks for cords. I got so tired of my family’s cord mess everywhere. Especially the backup cords, etc. Each peg has a label over it (lightning, usb-a, usb-c, miniHDMI… And any that are too big to fit in those clips, zip ties x2 keeps them super secure and changeable, like thick HDMI or coax cables.
Love your personality and ideas! What if you need to charge multiple devices on a kitchen counter where cords would be very hard to hide and they can’t be hidden behind anything or in a drawer? Does the tape remove the paint from furniture?
Helpful tips overall but your first tip is unfortunately a dangerous one, @ashlynneeaton. Power cords are not allowed to go inside the wall as they are not rated for in-wall use. Only wires like romex, installed by electricians, may go inside the wall. If that wire were to catch fire (most more fires begin as electrical failures within the wall), your homeowners’ insurance wouldn’t cover your home. As I said, all of your other tips were great. The solution to this problem is to call an electrician and have them install a dedicated outlet behind the television itself so that it meets all code requirements. Don’t feel bad, there are tons of very popular videos that show this same step. It’s equally important to use CL2/CL3 rated cables for HDMI connections as those too have been tested for in-wall use.
I'm definitely going to try those adhesive-backed wire guides and clips. I'm a graphic artist and author, and I have 4 computers in a small bedroom, each with dual monitors. Add 3 scanners and 2 printers and the cable management looks like spaghetti..
I don't really care about fashion, but instead safety & functionality. I've got a bunny to keep from chewing on cords. Plus, it's annoying having to pick up the cords so I can sweep the floor better.
I like the idea to have a power station on my nightstand but my problem with is that the cords will be constantly plugged in even if nothing is charging. I always think that this will use electricity as well. So I have to remove if I'm not charging because everything that has a red standby light uses power too - constantly
Oh no! Please don’t run your TV power cable behind the wall! It’s not rated for that use. Run cable rated for this use. Personally, I found an option on amazon that allows you to run properly rated cables behind the wall and connect them together (top to bottom) so that you only need to cut the two holes. Then run an extension cable from the connector on the bottom to an outlet
Great tips. I especially like the macrame idea. I am looking forward to the new bedroom reveal. :-) P.S. I would look into the cons of keeping your phone next to your bed.
Super helpful thanks! I have a bunch of chords I'd like to hide. I came up with a good solution for my computer chords at my desk in the middle of the room. Your idea of hiding with a basket will help!
What’s one hack that you currently use (or want to start using) to hide and organize cables in your home? 🤍
Hide behind the wall.
I love the decorative idea. It's such a good one!
The TV one for sure, but there are too many of them to say each one, so pretty much all of them.
Cord clips
Cord minimizer box
Cord clips and box

Yea..I immediately hit like because this is a REAL life problem. Thank you for this! 👌🏼
Haha absolutely!! Totally with you 🤍

Ooh that’s such a great idea!
Yeah, the wicker basket, pillow and blanket with alll those yarn fuses make a great fire starter.
yeah a 20w 2 amp cable will start a fire lol

Haha yes!! My exact feelings! Glad it’s given you inspiration to tackle it!!
I'm here because I have a pup who bites every single cable in the house so some tips are very puppy proof! Very helpful 😁
Great for bunnies too 😅
did you name the pup "cable cutter" or something?
Hi Ashlynne. Those binder clips are also great for securing open bags in your fridge or freezer. I actually do that all the time!! Binder clips are just so useful 🤍
Great job on this video! Welcome to the month of March and celebrate all women and happy International Women’s Month, Ashlynne!❤❤
Thank you so much Ervin!!
You’re welcome, Ashlynne!
Seriously this is THE single most helpful video on YT!
Haha oh my goodness thank you. So glad you found it helpful!
All of the tips were great. What I want to know is that a tv on the wall , and if so what picture did you use to make it look not like a tv?
Thank you, Ashlynne! This was full of great tips! Our house has so many loose chords and it looks so messy! This was so helpful!❤️
Oh I’m so glad to hear that!!
Don't forget the velcro ties. It is adjustable and reusable.
Thank you, Ashlynne, for these great tips and for showing how they work. We all deal with those annoying cords. Thank you for linking all of the products, too!
Yes absolutely. So glad it was helpful for you!
I loved this! It's a real life struggle. Great tips! I love the macrame wrap for the cords you just can't hide. I appreciate the effort to put out such helpful videos. 👌
Aw glad you found it helpful!!
Cords. We all have them and want to hide them! Excellent tips!
Haha yes!! Glad you enjoyed it!
I never thought cords could become an eye sore but I’ve come to the realization that they are a hassle to which is why in our household, we have a power pack for all of our cords. You have very smart and innovative tips on keeping cords from becoming an eye 👁️ sore
@Sue Sue a power pack is a pack with a four plug pack to plug up multiple items
There are heavy duty transparent tapes that last for years. The normal cellotape/Scotch tape ages quickly and dries off. Cable ties - plastic covered wires also work particularly for looped up cords. When tying down the chords the problem is when the furniture is moved for cleaning or needing access at the back. Cords the bane of my existence 😂
Haha yesss!! 🙌 They used to be mine too. Hope these tips can help you tackle them!

Hiding away those cords is so satisfying!

Incredible!!! This is what I’ll be doing my next day off, for sure. Thank you for including alternatives for those of us that rent! 🙌💃
Oh my goodness of course!! So glad this was helpful for you 🤍

Thanks for the tips. During my Spring cleaning the cords will be on my to do list.
I'm moving in a couple of weeks, this will be really useful 😀👍
So glad to hear that!
I absolutely loved this video I need them all 😂
Haha yes!! 🙌 I love it!

Oh that’s a good one! We hide our modem in a closet and use a wifi extender. 🤍
This idea deserves its own video! Seriously. 😀❤
Brilliant ideas!!!
Great tips. I hate cords everywhere!!! Have a lovely weekend ❤
Thank you, you too!

Thanks for doing this video 😊
Super video ashlynne 😊😊👍👍
Genus thinking thank you for sharing

Nice, practical tips

the makromae would be great for blinds too😊
Pets chew them so this helps. Especially with limited outlets
Is there not a fire risk of using tape and fabric on cords? I love the macrame idea but immediately wondered about safety.

Curious how you drill vertically for the first tips. Because I want to do that for my home but don’t know how to drill it vertically

Hi Ashlynne - I love the macrame idea, but am having trouble finding the link for how to do it. Can you please share it with me? Thank you!
Great video Ashlynne. Do you accept any collaborations with brands?

I always think that this will use electricity as well. So I have to remove if I'm not charging because everything that has a red standby light uses power too - constantly
So, there are hollow walls? I'm european, and my wall is half a meter of solid wall. How should I push cables through the wall?
Where do you get the 3 hole command thing?
What type of Apple Watch do you have?
Hi there sweetie pie hope you are well great ideas love from Eugenie your friend xxx 🌞🏡💕
Can you send me a link to macrama
Starts at 1:20

The phone one burned on me one time. Haven’t used it since. Be careful. Almost fried my phone
It's okay if you had a few devices. In a household things are much more grave.

Waaaaaay too long
Great tips. I especially like the macrame idea. I am looking forward to the new bedroom reveal. :-) P.S. I would look into the cons of keeping your phone next to your bed.
Yes!! 🙌 I’m hoping that video will be coming on Friday!!
This video is extremely helpful! Thank you! I’m going to have to get the cable management box for my desk for sure!
Love that!! 🙌
Super helpful thanks! I have a bunch of chords I'd like to hide. I came up with a good solution for my computer chords at my desk in the middle of the room. Your idea of hiding with a basket will help!
