Being unable to understand all the functions of a modern camera by reading its manual, you are a great help! Thank you for taking the time to produce these essential videos; you are a great teacher!
I've had the GRII for several years now and your videos are a huge help in me being able to understand my camera better, even though it's not the most recent GR. I have a hard time understanding the written word of manuals, and always do better when things are explained in videos with hands-on examples. And the thing is, now that I've watched some of your series on the GRIII, I can better understand the written words in the manual. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, it is priceless!
I really second that, you’ve been very helpful. I’m watching the whole series now and it helps a lot. And I am not new in the photography and have a decent understanding of zone focusing and all. But still even for me your videos are very useful let alone for newbies. Thank you very much for your effort and your time!
With the latest firmware you can now switch between 1 second snap and back to your preferred focus settings by pressing a button, I set this to the FN button. Fantastic camera!
in yesterday's video (#14) I covered Snap Focus Priority. In that mode, it works as you describe: Shutter button snaps, but you can still point-focus-shoot on the touch screen.
Snap Distance Priority is Ricoh trying to introduce a new semi automatic mode like Aperture Priority. It’s for when you’re using snap focus and it will try to help you get better shots. Snap focus is a method of focusing the camera at fixed distances. It can be used in any shooting mode.

@@skuzmin thanks!
Glad to see that I'm not the only one, manuals are useless for me!
Someone finally explained it so I could understand it. Thank you.

Another tip regarding snap focus is the way you can cold the macro button and then scroll the front wheel to adjust the distance.
Nice one.
Thank you so much for making these videos! Very helpful for the new GR owner. Mine arrives today. :) Subscribed!
Congrats!
Another great one!
Thanks, clear and concise.
Great video. Thanks.
Brilliant thanks. Purchased the camera today. Can you set the screen to autofocus then shoot plus have the shutter release purely snap focus?

Really helpful, thank you.
very helpful, thanks a lot! ✌🏻📷
Hi, what's difference between Snap focus and Snap Distance Priority?
so confuse!
Thanks
Snap Distance Priority is Ricoh trying to introduce a new semi automatic mode like Aperture Priority. It’s for when you’re using snap focus and it will try to help you get better shots.
Snap focus is a method of focusing the camera at fixed distances. It can be used in any shooting mode.
thank you senpai
Thanks
I wish I could set up snap focus so that if I touched the bottom of the screen I focused close and if I touched the top of the screen I focused far.
Now that would be awesome!
Can you turn off snap focus?
Sure. Fast forward to about 5:55 where I discuss switching it off.
