    Liberalism, youth and cultural embrace of both failure and debate are all part of the Tel Aviv’s creative DNA. We are reminded that tech entrepreneurs see the world differently, finding problems that others fail to notice. And we explore the exciting scene developing amongst their neighbours in young and liberal Ramallah - despite the many hurdles standing in their way.
    FUTURE CITIES | SERIES 2 - HOLY LAND:
    The second season of WIRED’s Future Cities series takes us inside one of the world’s biggest startup nations. With the most tech startups and venture capital per capita in the world, Israel has long been hailed as The Startup Nation. WIRED’s four-part series will look beyond Tel Aviv’s vibrant, liberal tech epicentre to the wider Holy Land region - the Palestinian territories, where a parallel Startup Nation story is emerging in East Jerusalem, Ramallah and the West Bank, as well as in the Israeli cybersecurity hub of Beersheba. And we will learn how the fertile innovation ecosystem of Silicon Wadi has evolved as a result of its unique political, geographical and cultural situation and explore the future challenges - and solutions - these nations are facing.
    ABOUT FUTURE CITIES
    Future Cities is part of a new flagship documentary strand from WIRED Video that explores the technologies, trends and ideas that are changing our world. Subscribe to the WIRED UA-cam channel to ensure you never miss an episode.
    FUTURE CITIES | SERIES 1 - SHENZHEN:
    We examine the unique manufacturing ecosystem that has emerged, gaining access to the world’s leading hardware-prototyping culture whilst challenging misconceptions from the west. The film looks at how the evolution of “Shanzhai” - or copycat manufacturing - has transformed traditional models of business, distribution and innovation, and asks what the rest of the world can learn from this so-called “Silicon Valley of hardware".

      1) Education is free and _mandatory_
      2) Plenty of welfare programs for the poor and homeless
      3) Most arabs in the major cities are illegals anyway, so they can't get a job
      They mostly just sit at home, live off welfare and blame it on 'muh oppression'
      This isn't an exaggeration, I know plenty of families like this living in the outskirts of poorer cities like Ramat Gan, Petah Tiqwa and some settlements.

      carlos saenz israel has more hightech companies per capita than any other country, the biggest R&D centers (out side of the US) of all the biggest companies are in israel (apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Intel...). Israel got more capital companies investment in tech than any other country and is the biggest spender on research as a % of the gdp. so don't patronize...

    • @carlossaenz8551
      @carlossaenz8551 7 років тому +4

      +Matan Omer All of your points show nothing buddy, nice try lol I mean Boulder Colorado has more startups per capita then Silicon Valley doesn't make it more important in any sense. Tech always leads to US and it's cities one way or another.

    • @matanamar
      @matanamar 7 років тому +7

      carlos saenz it's not just the number of companies, I wrote that the biggest research centers are in israel, the technology for the mobile phone's camera was invented in israel, the technology behind Google maps, apple's and facebooks face recognition, and so much more, more noble prizes per capita in the past 20 years than any other country and by absolute numbers more than the entire Muslim world (which is 200 times bigger), israeli companies has the third biggest share on nasdaq, and israelis are signed on more patents, medical inventions and scientific discoveries than any other country... in absolute numbers israeli hightech companies are making bigger exists (total in $) than any other country in Europe... Israel has the gdp per capita higher than France's and most European countries, while suffering from terror attacks and rockets, which by every study hurt the economy by 40-50%.
      You can be proud of your safe little city all you want, but israel is doing better with much less.

      Speaking as a non-Palestinian nor an Israeli, What Hmd articulated above is simply a fact. @FIlms & Film - I think that you are the one who is completely unversed and ignorant of the historical realities within the middle East. What the Zionists have done is no different from what the migration of Europeans to the Americas during the 15th Century did - in terms of displacing and terrorizing the natives of the region at that time (the Amerindians). This whole idea that they (the Zionists) had put forth as a justification towards there oppressive and colonizing tactics, is a historical fallacy which has no roots whatsoever from any of the sources that they proclaim to withhold by.
      @ Films & Film and @ Ernesto Barros, I urge you to seriously take initiatives in reading and understanding, 'The true history of the region'; from a much more deeper academic perspective, not by buying into subjective ideas that are superimposed by an oppressing/colonizing group of people (the Zionists in this case).
      They are painting a very dirty image on the pages of history, that will never be erased and will with no doubt be a sense of shame and dishonor to the coming generations. Just like the way America painted a shameful historical image by dropping the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombs; or the way some European countries painted theirs by brutally colonizing and enslaving people all around the world; or the way Hitler painted his by butchering innocent Jews in Germany.....all these dirty, filthy, barbaric, ugly, insane events can never be erased on the pages of History.
      And mind you that....Zionists have a 'big difference' from Jews. Actually many Jews are against what the barbaric, war monger and blood thirst Zionists have been up to. The Zionists have hijacked a religion (Judaism) for their own dirty political means. 'Judaism has nothing to do with Zionism'. It's just like the way ISIS have hijacked Islam for their own ugly, filthy and dirty political means. Or the way, 'The Lord's Resistance Army of Uganda' and 'historic European colonialists and imperialists' had hijacked Christianity for their own dirty political means and rapacity. All these... (ISIS, the Zionists, The Lord's Resistance Army, historic European colonialists)....are groups of barbaric oppressors hijacking pure and rich religious traditions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) for their own filthy motives.
      So, @ Films & Film + Ernesto Barros.......Read history guys....don't get manipulated easily like that. And....Try to be more academic instead of speaking and commenting out of emotions.
