The level 16 frostmourne hungers talent is crazy powerful in the right matchup because the damage stacking from your quest doesn't cap out and having a second empowered attack means you double your stack generation. Definitely seemed like a rough match for poor aa Arthas but good gameplay all the same
Arthas is one of muh faves. I prefer this type of build because the damage can steam roll when the stars align and the death coil lets you choose being heal or finishing off low heath targets, but if the enemy comp looks sketchy, I go full tank and let the team know so they might build/play around that idea early. Ults depend on the map, or what your feelin' at the time.
Glad to see you doing more HOTS content. This is heavy melee focus build. I have it save on my Arthas and pick between this and a build focused on his ranged root once I see the enemy team comp.
here we go! I've used all 3 builds you've described so far. this is my favorite variation. 3 blinds? oof Edit: great game though! I would typically take this build into heavy frontline: tank + bruiser style or if they had dps that didn't have a lot of cc (especially blinds). also my internet was kind of crappy for a while. this one I could just kind of click and pray and it work out sometimes. haha. If Triple A-rthas wasn't the best would depend more on my team then theirs. For this comp I def would have gone deathcoil for more poke. but you knew that. (even commented in the vid) If my team wanted to go in. The root was for general cc and really locking stuff down. Sindy v army was also very burst v sustained damage team. (and of course the map.) but takes a lot of limit testing. I would say in general I went army in the coil build and sindy in the other two. (mostly cause I liked the visual more.) 3 great games with my most used character pally. bravo.
my go to arthas is similar eternal hunger, great mana sustain allows you to spam self Q for healing, and gives you sizable damage over the game deathlord, lets you poke early game but the best part is the reduced cooldown immortal coil, works well with poking but 50% more healing is always great either ult, they both have good situations to use them frost strike, lower cd and a sizable slow makes locking down enemies easier, and you can stack quicker frostmourne feeds, massive mana gain and you can severely punish people who get outpositioned. embrace death is good but i rarely pick that over FF usually antimagic shell, it would have been great against a KT but an ult upgrade is never a bad choice you get to have good sustain and damage, and your W and E are powerful abilities without a single upgrade, they really dont need anything to be great at restricting movement
Pally, i know it might take another 3 years, but I'd(and im easily sure others) would love deep dives into future heroes spotlighting different builds. Happy Thanksgiving!
AA builds are so much fun. They let you be more concerned with your positioning and macro during a fight rather than forcing you to move in a specific way to land skill shots.
I always go this build on Arthas. You have so much kill pressure and against tanks/auto attackers you’re an unbeatable duelist. If you don’t get focused hard you’ll heal yourself very quickly
Even with taking Frostmourne Hungers at level 1 it usually makes more sense to take the Q healing talent as you can have infinite mana while healing yourself constantly. This is especially true if they have hard to melee champions which is most of the time.
For your level 16 talent there is an important distinction between two charges of your “frostmourne hungers” and it affecting your next two attacks. You don’t get to aa reset twice. You don’t get to space them out if you want to. Edit: nvm he realized.
Frostmourn feeds doesn't give a 2nd charge, just empowers 2 autos. Having a second charge would let you tap your trait twice for insane burst. I.E. auto, trait, auto, trait getting 2 auto resets in a very short window.
Gonna be that guy in the comments, but lvl 16 talent Frostmourne Feeds isnt the same as "Trait gets an extra charge", mainly because of three reasons: -You cant space out or save the 2nd empowered Auto Attack as its own cooldown -You get back both "uses" on the same cooldown -Most importantly, the 2nd empowered AA doesnt reset your AA timer, preventing Arthas for dealing burst damage too suddenly.
Anyone else have Kel'thuzad's proper name (in Pally's voice*) play through their heads every time they see him in a match? Bliz needs to pay Pally to be an announcer option in the game.
It's really funny how the first game was great for AA Arthas and we went E build, the second game was perfect for E build and we went Q build, and the third game is arguably a decent Q game and we went AA
Thank you for the video. It seemed like you were having difficulty getting in enough auto attacks to get much health from rune tap. When you did hit the attacks they did a lot of damage though.
Tough match to have aa arthas. Gotta be my favorite build though because you are always a moment from death but never truly die (kinda poetic for a lich king). The longer you are brave for in a fight the harder you become to kill because of that e effect if you stay on them. Sometimes with this build there is nothing wrong with going to hit the tank until it dies because you will out sustain them if they don’t have enough cc. The biggest downside to this build is learning to deal with the stress of always being close to dying but never actually doing so lol. Keep calm and smackin on
GG, rough match-up for the build. Dragon may have helped engage but you probably needed the health. Recommend devoloping OCD regarding frostmourne and ghouls. If you aren't sacc'ing ghouls non-stop you're missing healing. Frostmourne being on CD means less mana, a lot less with this build, as well as damage output. Even baseline it's a good chunk of damage for better than free. The quest for it also doesn't cap on damage. You were hitting for over 450 with it at lvl20 and you only had ~16 stacks.
Personally I love his Death coil build. It lets you both do fairly good chip damage as well as great self heal. How ever due to the lack of coil talents I know I went hungers for sustain and basically just so long I can hit something, I on paper would never have to back
is it even necessary to go trait build with rune tap? the talents don't interact in any way aside from lower cooldown on D giving you slightly more auto resets sometimes. You'd already have max attack speed on your second trait hit though. And blinds don't destroy you completely
Is there a group of regulars running around who like to queue together? I've been getting back into Hots (bad) but I'm getting like 10+ minute queues...I've heard it's better with squads but all the chill people I used to play with don't log on anymore.
Def my favourite Arthas build to play, but with the death coil talents at 4 and 7. Just gives a nice mix of consistent self-heal and poke, with hard-hitting melee and mana regain.
I enjoy the AA Arthas, but you are so slow, and as soon as you get CCd you can't do anything. Even when you do get into melee it seems like the enemy team often has enough damage to blow you up - and of course you have no escapes!
Here I am, watching the last of these games. I am going to miss seeing more HoTs, but the game is slowly dying more, and more each day. Maybe I can catch up with Pally playing more League, or he could possibly try playing something else. Like Smite, or even Predecessor.
Why try so hard so get that reset basic in trail in early game? In late game sure is understandable but in early isn't better do just stack your trail? Especially match like this

Anyone else excited by the trend of patches coming to HOTS recently?
It seems weird that some small patches rolled out
Not really, there is better stuff in life to get excited.

There's been a long while since I last watched you Pally. You are so freaking good on your job, dude! Amazing!
My unwavering enthusiasm for the return of pally HotS videos and the potential return of HotS itself continues.
Glad to see you doing more HOTS content.

Fun game, I love Stack-Attack Arthas. You need to spam your R more when you have ghouls out there.
Now i have something to watch at bus 🙏thank you !!love this
Watched this live on Twitch but still enjoy watching it again.
I remember playing Q + army of the dead. Arthas gets so hard to kill.
my go to arthas is similar
eternal hunger, great mana sustain allows you to spam self Q for healing, and gives you sizable damage over the game
deathlord, lets you poke early game but the best part is the reduced cooldown
immortal coil, works well with poking but 50% more healing is always great

A variation of this is my favorite way to play Arthas. Makes him feel like a tanky brawler with nice CC and actually decent dmg
YOURE BACK TO PLAYING HOTS! Unfortunately, i stopped playing HOTS due to work =\
AA builds are so much fun.

Rhime tends to even out the health bar spikes a little but then you lose the quest on your D which loses a lot of potential dps. YMMV

Thhe opposing team needed Johana and Artanis for the ultimate blind challenge
This is the best ARAM build

OMG yes! We need Pally as an announcer in game!
I still hear him scream Nazeeeeeebo every time myself lol
That last engagement was clutch! Great game!
This is the arthas gameplay i wanted, so much fun
It's really funny how the first game was great for AA Arthas and we went E build, the second game was perfect for E build and we went Q build, and the third game is arguably a decent Q game and we went AA

I feel like Icebound Fortitude is such a required talent pick at 7 if you are going to be tanking as Arthas. Great video. Bring back A-Z

Rune tap tends to be really bad, even when not going a coil build, healing on coil is so nice
Auto attack build requires anxiety meds.
This game needs to come out on steam asap
This is my fav arthas build but rarely works for me
Incredibly engaging.
He has needed more sustain for a while now. I find it difficult to be main tank with Arthas.
is it even necessary to go trait build with rune tap? the talents don't interact in any way aside from lower cooldown on D giving you slightly more auto resets sometimes. You'd already have max attack speed on your second trait hit though. And blinds don't destroy you completely
pally "I'm fine."

Good old rune tap+army of the dead. Giving enemy teams aneurysms since the game's release.

Why not anti-magic shell at 20 vs the KT combo?
low key such intense fights lol
Mai is very balanced i love her
Def my favourite Arthas build to play, but with the death coil talents at 4 and 7. Just gives a nice mix of consistent self-heal and poke, with hard-hitting melee and mana regain.
Want that HOTS action
Bruh, I love this content streak! Is this going to be the template for every hero like A-Z? Coz that's gonna be a FUCKTON of videos HAHA
imo Q build is the best build for arthas, sustain and poke. i think it's just by default good obv the others deal more damage tho.
it´s a good generalist build, your not gonna get punished for it but also your not gonna make huge plays using the things it gives.
Believe, believe, believe!
