I'm from Pakistan, and in school we were taught of the separation of Bangladesh and Pakistan and it was said to be due to "Indian conspiracy", it was not until university when one of our teachers told us the truth and man I was disgusted. I hate how Pakistan glorifies our army and has not even once come out to apologise and acknowledge the shit they pulled, because many Pakistanis might still believe that we were not at fault for the partition. It was truly an anti-humanitarian move on Pakistan's end, and it's unfair how its not nearly talked about enough.
Pakistan Army has apologized long ago, General Ziaul Haq visited bangladesh in the 80s, general musharaf visited bangladesh in the 2000s. And yes you have to admit the role of India in the 1971 conflict - Indians attacked Pakistan first in the November of 1971 The Indian attacks on Pakistan first are: Battle of Garibpur, Battle of Boyra Pakistan is not always wrong dear
@@hamdeath1110not always wrong . Pakis were killing and rap*ng millions of Hindus and we were suffering from millions of refugees. It was obvious that pakis should be taught a lesson.
An important piece you missed is that then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi visited nearly 80 countries to come and oppose Pakistan and USA. No one cared or dared. Finally India signed Indo-Soviet peace treaty in 1971 and Soviet Union used veto power against US, helped keep US and British carriers out of Indian Ocean and allowed India to defeat Pakistan.

I am an American with a reasonable amount of education, and I’ve never even heard this story before. Thank you for telling it so clearly. Evil is the only word I could use to describe it. I already knew that Nixon and Kissinger were terrible, but my God. What incredible horrors the people of Bangladesh have overcome, are probably still overcoming. Thank God for India’s intervention. They defended democracy while we sided with a genocidal dictator.
Look at what they are doing to the schools today? Banning critical race theory, going after abortion rights, spewing hate on the LGBT community, the list goes on. The racists seem to win over the good folk. Wish you luck that the US does not implode soon, hope the truth somehow gets out to the people and opens their eyes. For one, close down the Fox and other hate filled media, they just dump fuel on the flames.
This is such a biased story. India wanted to tear Pakistan because the Indians didn't want an enemy surrounding her from 2 sides. Then Nixon made such bad remarks about India-Indians because they wanted an war. After that the Soviet-Union ((currently Russia, Belarus, Ukraine...) supported India to win the cold war against the USA (which they failed at). When the American-nuclear-capble ship came to the coast of Bengal, soviet union sent their navy there to let India fight Pakistan a war that the USSR's seemingly ally India, would win. Then the Indians won because of the millions of Banglee-rebels helping them. India used the rebels/ Bangalees getting oppressed card to break Pakistan. Yes, Pakistan was wrong for being racist, committing a genocide, raping millions of women and kids but India and the USSR weren't angels. America was wrong just like Pakistan but so was the Indians and the Russians. There was no good side but the rebels who are now free Bangladeshis.

My grandfather was a Dhaka University professor that barely missed being taken and shot by the Pakistani army because he left ten minutes early to help my grandmother give birth to my mom. Thank you for this. Bangladesh fought so hard, for so long.
My grandfather was stationed as one of Yahya's closest bodyguards in West Pakistan. I'm grateful he resigned after my father was born. He probably couldn't take it anymore how Bengalis were treated. Had he stayed for a few more years and didn't leave by ship when things were beginning to escalate, he would've been trapped in Pakistan for good, probably would've died and I wouldn't have existed. Unfortunately Yahya Khan also named my father, and that name was passed down to me. I hate my name.
@@ayaan9646 I know, it sounds crazy. That guy probably named a whole lot of other people too, when my dad told me this story I found it a little unbelievable but my dad has my grandpa's badges from that time, letters, and a photo to prove it (that they were close). He was also born in a hospital in Rawalpindi and didn't take my grandfather's surname so it adds up. Honestly, I'm bengali so I'm not proud of this considering the kind of person Yahya Khan was and the atrocities that happened to us bengalis. My grandpa was used by him and was almost considered as a traitor from Bengladesh's side for being close to Yahya Khan (he was a very loyal man until all the realizations hit him) but was also considered a traitor by Pakistan's side when he resigned and fled after my dad's birth. edit: But Bangladeshis resentment didn't last for long and my grandpa was very respected there when they realized he had humble intentions and never did anything against Bangladesh. The story to get to that point though was a little complicated.
@@pros8389 I'm not disclosing any real names for very obvious reasons, I apologise. I doubt you'd be able to recognize any of them though, because it really wasn't that big in history it was just something that happened (btw the name that was given to my dad isn't extremely rare, I'd say it's somewhat common among Pakistanis). It could be a possibility that Yahya Khan helped my grandpa escape too, considering how my grandpa kept my dad's name after all (I doubt he would do that if he hated the man fully). There's a lot to this that I don't know, because I only heard these stories from my dad and other relatives and not directly from my grandpa himself as he passed when I was very young.

Kissinger, Hilter and Stalin were nominated for Nobel peace prize. Another fact Kissinger won the prize but Gandhi didn't. Kissinger won it for "for having negotiated a cease fire in Vietnam in 1973." But he later played role in downfall of South Vietnam.
As a person of Indian origin studying in the United States, I'll confirm that this genocide was NEVER mentioned, and I've heard of this here, first time. Our government just wants this country to look good, while at the same time, condemning other countries of educational censorship. While this is not EXACTLY censoring/redacting certain information, it's still not showing an important part of history shaping diplomacies of our nation today, such as Bangladesh and Pakistan. Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger and Winston Churchill are shown in a good light.
Three things missing here/incorrectly stated: 1. Bengali was given some recognition after the Mother Language movement of 1952**. Infact UNESCO's Mother Language day is observed in memory of this event. 2. There was an explicit targeting of Hindus during the genocide. Many people in the Pakistani military establishment were of the opinion that the Bengalis were "not following true Islam" due to "Hindus in their country" and felt that the Bengalis had become coddled due to their "Hindu blood". This is basically genocide rhetoric. 3. The USSR involvement. India was not exactly an ally of the USSR pre-1971, however they became an ally because of the event. This alliance was validated by the Indo-Soviet friendship treaty. Nehru was a complete supporter of being non-aligned when it came to world affairs and was very much committed to it. The USSR was also incredibly helpful as they sent a nuclear submarine in response to the American one off the coast of the Bay of Bengal. Other than that, great video. Edit: Quite a lot of people are thinking that I'm spreading hatred and communal division due to the second point. To make it clear, the Pakistani state elite had saw ALL Bengalis as inferior, whether Hindus or Muslims. However, they believed that the "inferiority" of Bengali Muslims came from the fact that the culture there was very syncretic, and that Bengali Muslims were practicing a version of Islam that was "tainted" by Hindu influence, as seen in the use of the Bengali script and the practice of syncretism, especially outside the elite Muslim aristocracy present in the urban centres of Dhaka. To make it clear, I am not a communal divider; I'm just bringing to light the painful fact that a good chunk of the violence was explicitly directed towards Bengali Hindus by the Pakistani state, which is a historical fact. This is not me criticising Islam, or Muslims in general. You can read the works of Willem Van Schendel where he covers the region in a great amount of detail. I have nothing against Bangladesh either, I think that they are doing very well for a South Asian country.
i am a pakistani and to you my brother i would ask that you recogniseour countries defects and faults, we did not kill bengalis we killed pakistanis at the time and we beat them to the point that there was a need for a bangldesh it was pakistans faults and was a defect of our military dictatorship under yahaya khan

The USSR should also be mentioned in this video without whom it would have been difficult for the Indian army to win this war. India was alienated by US in this war and the US and the British launched an attack against India to support the Pakistan army but the USSR came to India's aid and literally formed a barrier between India and the US, British forces and said if you attack India then that attack will be taken as an attack against the USSR. My stepmother's parents experienced the war. Grandpa fought in the war and the Pakistani soldiers were looking for him that time. Grandma had just given birth to Mom and the Pakistani soldiers came to her home and set their house on fire. They couldn't care less if there were people inside or not. One of my aunts sensed the fire and they got grandma and ran through the back door. Before they did though my aunt grabbed Mom who had just been born and made a run for it. Or so she thought. They ran a long distance till grandma said she couldn't go any further. They rested somewhere in the bushes and grandma asked "where's my child?" My aunt said not to worry as she brought Mom with her. But when she removed the cloth which was supposedly covering Mom, she saw it was a small bolster. She grabbed it in panic thinking it was Mom. And grandma began to panic. Soon my aunt and uncle decided they'd sneak back to get her. When they got there, they saw through the bushes that there were 2 Pakistani soldiers, one was holding Mom while arguing with the other on what to do with her. One suggested killing her on the spot as she's the daughter of one of the rebels. The other said to leave her to die anyway. Soon after arguing they decided to leave her to die. And they did. When they walked a certain distance away, my aunt crawled out of her hiding place slowly and grabbed Mom. She put her hand over her mouth and stopped her cries of fear. The soldiers heard this and thought she died. Then they got all the way back to grandma. Grandpa was still away at war and later got arrested. He was still in jail for some time after the war ended before being released. During his time in jail he got a letter that he got another daughter (I have more aunts than uncles). He was overjoyed and he had already decided names: If it was a boy, he'll be named Shadhin (independent) and if it was a girl, she'll be named Mukti (freedom), obviously because our country was in the process of being freed and was moving toward independence. And that's the story of how Mom got her name
What a great story. During the war my father was in orphanage. but one of his uncle got shot and killed by militery on 25th march night. He was praying Tahajjud that time.

In 1971 War, Pakistani Military killed almost all of the intellectuals and destroyed most of the economic sites of our country still We are developing day by day and our growth & development rate now is higher than Pakistan 😃
Don't forget Indians helped Bangladesh people with full force 👍🏻 we also. lost 8000 of Indian soldiers in war but anyway I hope the present day Bangladeshi acknowledge the sacrifice they seem to be pulled out of turth these days

Lets take it as you solely helped us out of the biggest corner of your hearts still you dont count your favour towards your friend and keep reminding them over it and take leverage from them by reminding them your favour. Thats not friendship or even basic decency.. Bangladesh has always supported India and helped them in many unimaginable away since independence especially your 7 sister states. You Indians are always so self oriented towards yourself in such a pathetic way. Till now (beside very few good lndians with common sense) always has treated Bangladesh as like some underdogs and always seek to take best leverage from it- " Shut up and listen to us. Remember that big favour from us where we made sure you won the war". My friend the war was fought by our own, yes, with the help of your logistics supply and for that we are grateful. Dont make it like you singlehandedly won the war. Your brave army only entered the battlefield when we secured the way by fighting day and night over 8 months yet again there were casualties in your side for which they have our respect. Lets come back to present shall we? Your borderguard military forces treat Bangladesh border as shooting range, you have denied access to Teesta river water for the sake of your priority regardless of devastating effect on Bangladesh which you didnt give a shit ( also that really didnt helped you guys either much as for that dam its proving to be an adversary now), millions of unregistered Indians works high paid salary post in Bangladesh and takes away billions of revenue but your home minister say keep saying filthy poor Bangladeshi are crossing borders to take a bite in Indian economy. Do you have any idea whats the trade ratio between Bangladesh and India? Look it up! Your companies can easily come to Bangladesh and enjoy the most lucrative deals in Bangladesh while if our company enters your market you people will slam over excessive tax fee on us because you guys just cant compete with our good quality products. Your state media are always airing how Bangladeshi are stealing away business, my friend, if we can produce good quality products with better price than you naturally the market will favour us that's not stealing thats called competitiveness in market. You dont like our military advancing and continuously strong arm it to progress. If you try to do a favour for someone than instantaneously put some clauses for your benefits then thats isnt called a favour any more. So after all of that naturally Bangladeshis doesn't like Indians the way you expect to. Heck, none of the neighbouring country of India likes India. Do you think its just a coincidence or out of jealousy? No, your foreign policy is just pure horseshit. You try to implement America's policy but you fail so miserably. Nobody like America too either at the end of the day. Your foreign policy is how to leverage from other neighboring countries and keep India better than them iso that such a huge under funded population can feel some fake induced pride of how great India is. So that they dont rise against the government for their corruption. It is because of India this whole South East region is deteriorating where as we have everything. The man power, the expensive and vital resources, natural beauty. We have the potential to be leading world economic region in the world way better than Europe. In fact, Europe became Europe from looting from us. But No keep fucking each other in order to look better to their own people while hiding corruption.

Adding some points not mentioned- 1. In 1971 when India was helping Bangladesh fight this war against Pakistan, USA & UK sent their submarines to threaten and suppress....maybe even invade India. They coerced into via the UN as well. 2. It was USSR that vetoed almost more than 5 times to help India & sent their Submarine fleet to counter. The American government is a bully. It tried to take the moral high ground when clearly it's a selfish group of people who could care less about their country. They're moral policing India even today rather than retrospecting. This' one of the many examples where Russia has stood with India. India's neutrality today has many reasons. This' one of them.
To think about it,and seeing the mindset of US and UK at that time............the Subcontinent could have been completely different from what it is now. Thanks to Soviet Union for supporting India.Otherwise, even after defeating Pakistan ,We could not have managed it well against USA+UK.
@@abhishekbhaskar6268 I personally believe that's not the reason for indian government's neutral stand (more like russian biased stand) because a similar sino russian peace treaty was signed in late 90s after the fall of ussr as international geopolitics changes from time to time ussr and china were best friends in 1950s but went on a war in late 1960s, in 1950s indio-us relations were worse like anything but now without india's support you can see how usa is keen to get indian support government's stand towards russia is because russia has been a time tested friend for india the 1971 issue can a secondary reason and also be one reason because of which the public sentiment of indians is mostly with russia but for government it's quite different as : 1. currently india's primary aim is to get veto power in unsc india is an ally of all 4 nations except china, and russia is the only country who can convince china for that 2. another aim of india is with the strategic areas of kashmir (POK and COK) for which india needs russia more than america because the current pak govt. is also anti west (which is also the reason for political instability there) and russia is one who maybe help solve this issue diplomatically 3. america is ready to give military support to india but our unfriendly neighbour has been one of the biggest ally of USA and we all know the soviet/russian defense machineries are much more efficient than the american ones (1965, 1971, 1999 and 2019 also) 4. the cryonic engine which india currently uses in it's space program is from russia 5. america has a long history of not being an ally of any country it just sees it's profits till 90s pak was biggest ally of america but now it is the one who has sanctioned pak a lot and india is probably not a fool like pakis 6. today america has become an ally of india to destroy china but tomorrow it can become an ally of any other country(like paki or middle east ones or turkey or japan) to destroy india again because of it's long history of similar behavior (against USSR and now with china) 7. the public sentiment of russians is mostly pro india also indian culture has been one of the most adapted culture by the russians indian movies are huge hits in russia so india can't let a pro india population go against it 8. most importantly if india goes against russia it will not stop russia's aggression but it will only sour our relationship with one of the biggest ally of india
Thank you so much for bringing attention to Nixon and Kissinger's role in the genocide in Bangladesh. Ironically, Kissinger is a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Yes, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who has the blood of millions on his hands. I don't know how Americans in general view him, in Bangladesh, we pretty much see him as a bastard. That being said, thank you also for bringing attention to Archer Blood. Kissinger said he had 'weak nerves', but honestly the man had nerves of steel. He did what was morally right, even if that could put his job in jeopardy. Thank you so much for your service, sir. May the world be full of more people like you.
One thing not mentioned is that India didn't just intervene in the genocide out of nowhere. They first went to the UN and sought permission to intervene as the situation was getting quickly out of control. Literally every single country in the UNSC was in agreement for an Indian military operation. The only country which was against it was the US. Every single country in the EU, NATO and even government officials in the US repeatedly implored Nixon to stop Pakistani military aid. Instead, Nixon sent Task Force 71 to threaten India with nukes. If it weren't for the Soviet fleet that blocked the Malacca Strait, the US would have been at war with India. Remember, this is when they were already losing in Vietnam. And a war against India would've surely invited Soviet response. This event was also one of the main reasons why India started it's nuclear program and (conspiracy theory time) CIA assassinated Homi Bhabha, the father of India's nuclear program. For all the talks about wanting to prevent nuclear war, the US sure came close to it so many times.
Homi Bhabha died in plane crash in 1966 ( many say CIA was behind it) . Our atomic commision was set in 1948 but our first prime minister was against it. It was when Shashtriji came to power Homi Bhabha declared he would make India a nuclear power in 18 months. Unfortunately Both Shashtriji(In Tashkent ,also CIA is alleged to be behind his death) and Homi Bhabha died mysteriously within 15 days in January 1966.
People should know about this genocide even more . I'm happy that Bangladesh has come a long way now . Love from Morocco 🇲🇦 We should spread love not hatred .
Only problem is it a myth that has just been repeated so many times that people believe it. Controversy about death figures in Bangladesh's liberation war. On 8 January 1972 I was the first Bangladeshi to meet independence leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after his release from Pakistan. He was brought from Heathrow to Claridge's by the Indian high commissioner Apa Bhai Panth, and I arrived there almost immediately. Mujib was puzzled to be addressed as "your excellency" by Mr Panth. He was surprised, almost shocked, when I explained to him that Bangladesh had been liberated and he was elected president in his absence. Apparently he arrived in London under the impression that East Pakistanis had been granted the full regional autonomy for which he had been campaigning. During the day I and others gave him the full picture of the war. I explained that no accurate figure of the casualties was available but our estimate, based on information from various sources, was that up to "three lakh" (300,000) died in the conflict. To my surprise and horror he told David Frost later that "three millions of my people" were killed by the Pakistanis. Whether he mistranslated "lakh" as "million" or his confused state of mind was responsible I don't know, but many Bangladeshis still believe a figure of three million is unrealistic and incredible. This video brought hidden genocide into limelight. I'm sure while researching they would've found out that Hindu Bengalis were the primary targets of Pakistani army . Most victims were infact Bengali Hindus and Bangladeshi separatists . But seems like they wilfully avoided mentioning it. Read this : American Consul-General and the senior US diplomat in Dhaka at the time, Archer Blood, repeatedly warned government officials in Washington about the violence and the selective targeting of Hindus: "Genocide' applies fully to naked just to calculated and widespread selection of Hindus for special treatment.Pakistani army used to strip Hindus to identity them...From outset various members of American community have witnessed either burning down of Hindu villages, Hindu enclaves in Dacca and shooting of Hindus attempting (to] escape carnage, or have witnessed after-effects which [are] visible throughout Dacca today. Blood further noted that the Pakistani military was engaged in the "mass killing of unarmed civilians, the systematic elimination of the intelligentsia and the annihilation of the Hindu population." My grandfather was a muslim scholar at that time. He hid a hindu family in a mosque and saved their lives. "It is Bengali Hindu Genocide"

In schools, it's taught of as "a small military action to crush the revolt in Bengaladesh". As a Pakistani, I long for the day we make peace with our Indian and Bengali homies but our governments will probably never let it happen :(
Right now, there is no animosity between the Bangladesh & Pakistan governments. We buried the hatchet decades ago... both Mujibur Rahman and Bhutto ended up w/ death sentences by their own people, but they made peace before their deaths. However, I would not recommend flying a Pakistan flag in public In Bangladesh... it's like a swastika there. And people also don't realize that most Pakistanis were kept in the dark by the military government in 1971, who kept claiming they were "winning the war against India"...until their army there surrendered. The public was furious about being misled... From my experience, Pakistanis are very nice people... I've lived w/ quite a few. The problem in Pakistan to this day is that unelected army leaders hold a lot of power in the country, while elected leaders scrap w/ each other... In Bangladesh, the military was disabled in the 90's after an illegal dictator General Ershad was forced out of power... Currently, the police and civilian government have more arms & firepower than the army, and army officials & personnel are strictly at the behest and payroll of civilian paychecks and orders, and kept out of power. Muslims and Hindus can get along fine. It's been proven. It's the rhetoric of leaders that pit them against each other...

Bangaldesh itself is now committing genocide against Hindus. They are now more loyal to Islam than they are to the people that have been with them all along. They were also Hindus before converting and becoming radical Islamists. Now, Bangaldesh is best friends with Pakistan and becoming an enemy of India only because Islam is thicker than all other bonds. Hindus were the most affected in the Bangladesh genocide. Hindu women were targeted by Pakistanis and their Bangladeshi supporters. Even today, this is the case which is why India was forced to enact the CAA. The Indian government should send back Muslim Bangladesh refugees only because Bangladeshi Muslims consider Islam as more important than humanity. India on the other hand is a secular republic even under Prime Minister Modi. Sporadic incidents not withstanding, Muslims in India are happier than muslims in even Islamic nations like Pakistan. India just provided some weapons and 40k soldiers. In the end, 3 lac Bangladeshis died, and thousands were raped. 25th March 1971, West Pakistan carried out Operation searchlight, which killed all Bengali nationalists and intellectuals. Many Dhaka university professors were also killed on Dec 14, 1971. Brave Bangladeshis fought hard, gave their lives fighting and slowing down Pak army, normal village people with shared their home and food to Bengali soldiers. Every Bangladeshi worked her/his best to free the country. *Indians talk as if Bangladesh had zero soldiers and zero nationalists and patriotic people, and that if India never helped, Bangladesh would have lost in minutes.* India helped Bangladesh for selfish reasons so that they are not surrounded by 2 Pakistans on both sides. @Syed Rakib Al Hasan well I have compared Bangladesh with Pakistan, to show that we are much better than them in recent times. Bangladesh is having a good time with its economy. But will u state positive facts about your country internationally or negatives? I hope u got it.
My father was a freedom fighter. West has no clue about genocide in BD. I heard from my father about famine, I born after the famine created by Kissinger. Bangladesh was a playing ground for west as it is happening with Ukraine. I have Pakistani friends in west and their new generation has no idea what their elder politician did to us.

We’ve come a long way since then, but there is still a long way to go. Let us use this moment to promise ourselves that we will do whatever it takes for Bangladesh. Let’s forget the differences of religion, race, and creed and work together to make Bangladesh, our home, all the better. From the team here at The Bangladesh Defence Analyst, we wish all Bangladeshis, home and abroad a very Happy Independence Day. Joy Bangla ... ! Another Factoid, at 6:17, in 1970, a Pakistani general reached East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) to address ne recruits in the army and he said in urdu "hum inn Bengaliyo nasle badal denge!" which translates to "We will change the ethnicities of these Bengalis." One Bengali soldier heard this and committed suicide by shooting a bullet in his mouth straight through the head.

"The Communist Purge" taking toll up to 2 million peoples death (official report 'only' 750.000) done by paramilitary organization backing up by Army and CIA, and million others are prisoner without court. This was one of many our country darkest histories
Let's not forget that when India tried to liberate East Pakistan the US threatened to level India. No one came to India's help. Until the Russians turned up with their submarine fleet and positioned it in the Bay of Bengal challenging the advancing American Naval Fleet. And the rest as they say is history and we got the independent country of Bangladesh.
Stop this nonsense propaganda. India joined the war 16days before the end of the war and they didn't give any of their weapons. Weapons and arms came from USSR to India to Bangladesh. Bangladeshis fought the whole 9 months. Indian soldiers even took the Pakistani weapons and Many other things from Bangladesh. Local people says that Indians even stole buckets from public toilets.
@@dharmapersona2084 well actually several officials were court martialed by indian army as they looted. And India did take the arms of Pak army which should've been given to Bangladesh. I hate the fact that I only know of one of the worst catastrophes of the past century because of a rock concert, Hopefully this video will educate millions of people who didn't know about this topic otherwise
this goes to show you how much you can learn from musicians who have the most integrity in fame/popularity. Of course this doesn't really apply to the modern new generation wave of so called "musicians". Some dead comedians also share this in common. Art is true philosophy and real protest. Marlon Brando and Muhammad Ali the only ones from the sports and film industry. These are the true role models of integrity. Not some phony banana sucking politicians or celebrities of today.
As an American it horrifies me that we weren’t ever taught this in school(but doesn’t surprise me) all we were taught is that Nixon was corrupt and he lied about watergate. I just learned about this from a UA-cam reel that was going over the worst moments in history per country. This was Bangladesh’s but didn’t know about it. America’s was 9/11, and as horrific as it was, it’s laughable in comparison to what we have done (and continue) to other countries. If it wasn’t for the inspiration of non-violence tactics MLK learned from Indians that we wouldn’t have civil rights in America.

America in 1971 : Bangladesh 🇧🇩 is a broken basket
America in 2021: can you join Indo Pacific
😂😂👏👏 Pakistan is our trustworthy ally. Now: it's a failed state. We aren't allies
US Government 1971: Bangladesh is basket-case nation.
2023: Please Guys make my shirt and help us in UNPKO😭😭😭
Three things missing here/incorrectly stated:

That plan was scrapped due to Nehru. That version had 3 units, India Pakistan and Bangladesh. I do however blame Jinnah for forcing Urdu on to everyone and insisting on one national language in the first place. Hell, Aga Khan even said the national language should be Arabic for some stupid reason. Even when the US warned the USSR of nuclear war the USSR stood it's ground in support of India. As an American who grew up in the 80s and 90s, this is the first that I have heard of this story, and I suppose, to some degree, I can understand why, as being complicit in genocide is nothing short of abhorrent and shameful, and to pretend it never happened is to make sure that it will happen again.

To think about it,and seeing the mindset of US and UK at that time............the Subcontinent could have been completely different from what it is now.

government's stand towards russia is because russia has been a time tested friend for india the 1971 issue can a secondary reason and also be one reason because of which the public sentiment of indians is mostly with russia but for government it's quite different as :
1. currently india's primary aim is to get veto power in unsc india is an ally of all 4 nations except china, and russia is the only country who can convince china for that
2. another aim of india is with the strategic areas of kashmir (POK and COK) for which india needs russia more than america because the current pak govt. is also anti west (which is also the reason for political instability there) and russia is one who maybe help solve this issue diplomatically
3. america is ready to give military support to india but our unfriendly neighbour has been one of the biggest ally of USA and we all know the soviet/russian defense machineries are much more efficient than the american ones (1965, 1971, 1999 and 2019 also)

Alllah hu akbarrrrrr 💥💥💥💥💥

Bengali? maybe; Indians? not anytime soon due to their current fascist movement that wants to murder every Muslim in existence.

India and Hindus must not trust Bangladesh even if they are neighbors. They can do whatever they want with China.

The fact that my school has mentioned nothing of this is sickening, we had an entire unit on South Asia and even went over the Indo-Pak war but never mentioned anything about the U.S. intervention. Goes to show how history is altered by the victor.
Historically, most republican presidencies have been the worst (some Democrat too), but before he died, Bobby Kennedy (a Democrat) opposed sending arms & aid to Pakistan. We all know Pres. Johnson (also a Democrat) was mired in the Vietnam war, but Pres. Nixon made his quagmire a full-blown disaster... Nixon's entire presidency was a scandal. Ford was no better...
Pres. Ronald Reagan & Pres. Bush Sr. were perpetrators of the worst US foreign policy during the 80's and early 90's (Iran-Contra scandal, Somalia invasion, 'war on drugs', Palestine's brutal occupation, arming the mujahideen of Afghanistan)... We all know what a disaster Bush Jr. was in the WH, selling the Iraq war in a road map being used by Putin of Russia since.
So, it matters who is the US President. I'm not saying Pres. Clinton & Pres. Obama were ideal, but they did OK for the most part. Neither fueled a genocide as far as I know. Just my opinion.
And in the case of the American South, the losers got to write history. It's pretty insane how history gets altered

*stop taking the credit for what the Bangladeshi liberation army and its lakhs of brave soldiers and their civilian allies did to free Bangladesh.*
Pakistan 🇵🇰 sent 93 thousand soldiers to stop the Bangladeshi independence movement. 2.5 lakh Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 civilians and soldiers volunteered in the Liberation Army and became soldiers.
Even if India never helped a little, Bangladesh would have won the war anyway, as 2.5 Lakh soldiers and Lakhs of civilians sharing food, shelter, weapons with the soldiers, and the entire nation of 65.53 million people united against the Pak army, would have defeated a mere 80 thousand Pak soldiers.

Who calls? And how can any indians understand any difference from Bangladeshis and indians. Bangladesh was part of india and was divided only based on religion
Another Factoid, at 6:17, in 1970, a Pakistani general reached East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) to address ne recruits in the army and he said in urdu "hum inn Bengaliyo nasle badal denge!" which translates to "We will change the ethnicities of these Bengalis."
One Bengali soldier heard this and committed suicide by shooting a bullet in his mouth straight through the head.
See the audacity of today's pakistan
@@subhashanvs3229 exactly, yet Bengladeshi youth today supports Pakistan
I was in school with alot of Bengali kids when I was little, we had loads of them here in England in the 90's and when I went to their homes and met their grandparents that lived through that period in Bangladesh, mutilated from war, it opened my eyes to the world at a very young age
There was no 'genocide' in Bangladesh.
You probably met the pro Pakistanis that were violently assaulted by Multi Bahini.
@@PG-hc7nb bro the title of this video literally calls it a genocide, and I didnt even use that word in my comment lol
@@tjae1580 You are watching a propaganda video against Pakistan I think the channel is sponsored by the Bangladesh government.
If the genocide did indeed occur where are the pictures and bones?
The Gravel Institute out with another banger once again. Thank y'all for covering the history topics our textbooks conveniently ignore. ❤✊
You haven't even watched it yet
@Pro Russia Loli (Russian Imperialist) I'd rather be a lib than be a commie
@Pro Russia Loli (Russian Imperialist) How's that ruble doing? Lol
@@thomasxl3975 Russia is more capitalist than America. And no I don't mean that as a compliment.
@@SHVRWK Well at least you are smart enough to understand that @Pro Russia Loli (Russian Imperialist) isn't a communist. As bad as the invasion of the Ukraine is, it still isn't as bad as Pakistan's genocide of Bangladesh. Your attempt to distract was pathetic.
Similar happened here in Indonesia, especially Java and Bali. "The Communist Purge" taking toll up to 2 million peoples death (official report 'only' 750.000) done by paramilitary organization backing up by Army and CIA, and million others are prisoner without court. This was one of many our country darkest histories
Act of Killing.
A great video
Do consider watching this aswell regarding the creation of Bangladesh

Thanks for the video. Not many people know about a genocide that's so big in scale. Not many videos about this on internet either.
West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Tripura got flooded with 10 million East Bengali refugees who had countless horror stories to tell.
@@raadsiddique2090 you're the one spreading fake stories. that never happened.
@@raadsiddique2090 Oh, the shame of unpaid debts burns for ever!
@@dharmapersona2084 well actually several officials were court martialed by indian army as they looted. And India did take the arms of Pak army which should've been given to Bangladesh. But In the end, India still played a big role by giving shelters and providing basic supports to bengalis. We are thankful for that, but it would be wrong to say india liberated Bangladesh. My grandpa was a muktijoddha who fought against pak army. He got his training from Meghalaya border, a camp set up by Bengali officers of Pak army. India didn’t directly help them, but indirectly, through local people.
Correct Indians appropriating our victory is annoying. I especially hate when we criticize them or their government and they hit back with bUt wE lIbErAtEd yOu 🤡
Thank you for this video. I never learned about any of this in history class. The only reason I was even aware of this genocide is because I am huge Beatles fan and I love George Harrison's solo work and his concert for Bangladesh was a favourite of mine. I hate the fact that I only know of one of the worst catastrophes of the past century because of a rock concert, Hopefully this video will educate millions of people who didn't know about this topic otherwise
Us Bangladeshis are forever grateful to George Harrison for this.
Well that was a point of the concert, to spread awareness! Glad people found out one way or another.
this goes to show you how much you can learn from musicians who have the most integrity in fame/popularity.
@Neil Bajwa exactly that what i was told by my grandfather.. i am 100% agree with you
Then that concert served its purpose :)
