Thank you Francis for an insight of the Christmas charts 35 years ago. I believe a member or two of Black Sabbath was involved in the Rock Aid for Armenia song. Ultra Nate would go on to have a huge hit with "Free" eight years later. The Sonia song, my sister sang it in a talent show when she was eight in 1996 and came third. A shame Band Aid 1989 is always neglected, as I think it's way better than 2014's effort and whatever the mashup was for this year. My favourites are Sinitta's underrated pop song, which should have been in the top 40 at least. A cute little gem. An early dance classic Stevie V ft Dirty Cash which is timeless even now in 2024. Should have been a #1 hit. Electronic's dance-pop classic with Neil Tennant on vocals. The beautiful Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes duet, Queen's "The Miracle". Freddie could sing the alphabet, it would have been amazing. Throw in Mantronix's "Got To Have Your Love".

Sally Cinnamon by the Stone Roses originally came out in 1987 and spent a long time on the indie charts, but most particularly their former label FM Revolver tried to re-release it at the end of 89. In early 1990, against the band's wishes, the label had made a video for the song which the band objected to, resulting in the band trashing the premises of their former label with paint as well as their former manager.
Such a poor quality chart. Could Have Told You So Halo James, Words The Christians and Broke Away Wet Wet Wet are all excellent songs but there is a lot of rubbish too.
I was 5 years old when theses songs were in the charts.
Thanks For Sharing!

Great video. Loved some of these records. Can’t wait for your next lot of videos.
One of my all time favourite months.
LMAO Kevin Bloody Wilson was in the UK charts! One of Australia's best comedians
Felices fiestas, Francis.

La fin d’une belle décennie musicale😊
It surprises me how such little overlap occurred between UK and American charts here.
