BRITISH TOY TRAIN SET SHOWS - LOOK CHILDISH ALONGSIDE PROFESSIONAL EUROPEAN EXHIBITIONS !
Unreal ! Having just been to the Friedrichshafen exhibition in Southern Germany, where every layout (virtually all club layouts) were professional, and many were very large at over 40ft. Its terrifying to see how British Model railway shows have so quickly degenerated into nothing more than Childish "Toy train set shows", like this one in Warrington. Where clearly no one seems to understand signalling, and certainly not catenary, or what the real railway outside actually looks like. Indeed British modellers don't even seem to understand how to use DCC !!!

@railwaymechanicalengineer4587 these sorts of small shows are generally to encourage newcomers into the hobby. Many are put off starting in railway modelling due to being faced with criticism of their efforts by "professional" modellers. These sorts of rivet counting individuals represent the worst of the hobby. Anyone should be able to build whatever they want. Be it totally inaccurate loop with trains running a scale 300mph . To a highly detailed prototype of a particular location. I have been to large shows where layouts are built to high standards, but the average modellers can build whatever they like with whatever skills they have.
