I Taki had written his name on Mitsuha’s hand, it would have disappeared just like their notes to each other, but writing “I love you” is protected. They both forgot each others names, but never the feelings they had.

YESSS SIRR One of the best anime movies out there, and is enough to make a grown man cry. This movie earned $358M globally box office by the way! Crazy!

They were not only switching bodies, they're switching through time. Mitsuha was in Taki's body 3 years in the future, and Taki was in Mitsuha's body 3 years before. That's why when Mitsuha went to Tokyo to search for him, Taki didn't recognize her because he hadn't experienced the switching yet. They forget each other because it was the cost of their meeting. Musubi demands the person to leave behind the most precious thing. For them, it was their memories of each other. The reason that "I love you" didn't get erased is because in Japanese folklore, the Moon Goddess who is also the Goddess of Love protects all genuine love messages. This movie is extremely well executed and presented in so many ways. You find a lot of small little details with multiple viewings.

“BOKU” ← Basically a self-proclaimed man, and if an adult uses it, it gives a polite impression. It feels a little young when a teenage boy uses it.

If you like japanim' AND emotional stuff, I recommend you to watch the all Made In Abyss series (the story is unfinished yet): season 1 , then the movie named Down Of The Deep Soul and season 2. Without spoil, it is simultaneoulsy cute and wayyyy darker than it first seems, emotionnal, sometimes psychologically violent and "hard to watch", sad... But the only fact it makes feel all those kind of emotions makes it (according to me) a masterclass serie that deserves to be watched and really is underrated. And the OST are amazing :)

@@rinhyugaa6565 well now you know. And it's ALWAYS represented in ALMOST, if not, ALL anime shows. And don't forget about the so called "BEACH EPS" in anime. Japan loves the beaches and lakes (who doesn't) that's why they insert it into whatever story made.

If you want a wholesome series that would make a person cry.. try out Sword Art online (kidding.. I’m making fun of myself lol)
For real.. a wholesome short anime that will get you into your feelings is “The Day I Became a God”. Don’t let the title throw you off. It doesn’t make fun of any religion.
A quick summary without spoilers
A boy (I think he’s in high school fixing to go into college) meets a little girl that claims to be a god (Odin from Asgard) she’s dressed as a nun. She says the world will end in 30 days. He try’s to get her to go to the police with him so she can go back to her family. He finds out she has no where to go. So she asks him to call his parents to let her stay with them. He doesn’t believe his parents will but they do say yes. She can seemly predict the rain, which horses will win in horse races etc. as the story goes on he starts to love her. Not as a life partner but as a sister. His life and his friends life’s get better because she’s with them. But on the 30th day everything changes and he goes through hell for her. And it’s not clear as your watching it if his plan will work or not.
It’s only 13 episodes but I would love for someone to watch this and come back to this post to write what they think about the anime here.
I barely cry with anime but damn this one got me. You could say it broke me with its bitter sweetness moments
